Chapter 1 - Rebirth

Chapter 1: The Fall of a Legend and the Rise of a Nobody

The roaring crowd in Orion Stadium echoed like a thunderstorm. Tens of thousands of fans chanted his name, waving banners and scarves in admiration. The name "Kazuki Takahashi" shone in golden letters on the massive digital scoreboard.

Kazuki stood at the center of the pitch, holding his sixth Golden Ace Trophy. The floodlights reflected off the golden sphere, illuminating his sharp features and jet-black hair. He was Japan's pride—the greatest footballer the country had ever produced.

"This one is for my fans, my country, and the game I love!" Kazuki declared, raising the trophy high.

His teammates surrounded him, celebrating his achievement. His career had been nothing short of legendary. From humble beginnings in Tokyo's streets to playing for Astral FC, he had conquered the football world. He was called "The Magician" for his otherworldly dribbling and vision.

But fate had other plans.

That night, as Kazuki drove home through the rain-slicked streets of Nova City, his mind buzzed with excitement. He had just received an offer from Titan FC, his childhood dream club. A chance to redefine his legacy.

Then it happened.

A blinding pair of headlights. A deafening crash. Then, darkness.

Kazuki woke up to an intense migraine, his body aching all over. His limbs felt weak, as if he had been drained of all energy.

'What… happened?'

He forced his eyes open, expecting to see a hospital ceiling. Instead, a dingy, cracked ceiling greeted him, accompanied by the faint scent of mold and sweat.

'This isn't Nova City…'

He sat up abruptly, his body feeling… different. His once muscular frame was scrawny, his arms and legs frail. Panic surged through him as he stumbled toward the cracked mirror on the wall.

The reflection wasn't his.

A sixteen-year-old boy with disheveled black hair and pale skin stared back at him. The eyes, though sharp, carried a dull lifelessness.

'This isn't me! What the hell is going on!?'

Memories flooded his mind, two lifetimes colliding at once.

The boy's name was Riku Nakamura, a third-year student at Shibuya High School. A failed footballer, a benchwarmer at best. Once a promising talent, but discarded as "useless" after failing to grow physically.

'No way… I've reincarnated into this kid?'

Kazuki—no, Riku—clutched his head, his mind spinning. He had gone from being the world's best footballer to a nobody. A football reject.

'Is this some kind of twisted joke?!'

A sudden knock at the door snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Riku! Get up! We have training in thirty minutes!" came a voice from outside.

The name Haruto Tanaka surfaced in his mind—his best friend, the only one who still believed in him.

Riku sighed, his grip tightening.

'If this is my second chance… I'll make sure I rise again.'

No matter what, Kazuki Takahashi would reclaim his throne—this time as Riku Nakamura.

Shibuya High Football Club Training Grounds

The field was a patchy mess, barely maintained. Compared to the lush pitches of Orion Stadium, it looked like a forgotten playground. Riku stepped onto the field, his legs feeling lighter than before.

"Oi, Nakamura, why are you even here? Gonna warm the bench again?" sneered Kaito Shiranui, the academy's arrogant midfielder.

"Ignore him," Haruto muttered, giving Riku a light shove forward. "Just focus on the game."

Riku exhaled slowly. His past self, the old Riku, had cowered in moments like this.

But he wasn't that Riku anymore.

Today would mark the beginning of his new era.
