Emma Carter had precisely three things going for her: a caffeine addiction, a questionable sense of humor, and an undying crush on Lucas Sinclair—the CEO of Sinclair Enterprises and arguably the most untouchable man on the planet. The problem? He didn't know she existed. Yet.
"I'm just saying," Emma mused, adjusting her phone camera as she prepared for yet another ridiculous video. "If Lucas Sinclair were my boyfriend, I'd never let him wear a suit twice. I'd burn them just for an excuse to see him in sweatpants."
Her best friend, Zoe, groaned from across the room. "Emma, you do realize you sound insane, right?"
"Shh! Genius at work."
Emma pressed record and launched into a full-blown, totally not embarrassing reenactment of what life would be like as Mrs. Lucas Sinclair.
It started innocently enough: a morning routine where she dramatically woke up beside an empty pillow, sighed wistfully, and pretended to text her billionaire boyfriend.
"Good morning, love. Did you sleep well?"
Cue Emma throwing herself onto the bed, flailing like an actress in a soap opera before switching angles to 'reply' as Lucas:
"I only sleep well when you're in my arms, darling."
"Ugh, I'm going to throw up," Zoe muttered, stuffing a pillow over her face.
Emma ignored her and kept filming.
The video escalated quickly—complete with fake romantic dinner montages, Emma swooning dramatically at stock images of Lucas, and a slow-motion scene of her 'fainting' after reading one of his fictional love texts. By the time she was done, Zoe was on the floor, clutching her stomach from laughing too hard.
"This," Zoe wheezed, "is the dumbest thing you've ever done."
Emma smirked as she hit post. "Or the smartest."
