"Sister Xiao Mei, the little witch is looking for you again"
I dropped the tablet on my mahogany desk, turning around immediately to make sure nobody was close enough to hear what she said.
"Liu Xin Yi!"
"What?"
"Don't call her that!" I chastised softly but the brunette just looked at me and scoffed loudly.
Stomping over, she sat down on my soft leather sofa crossed-legged, not caring in the slightest about the stain she would leave on its pristine white.
With a sigh, I stood up and sat beside her.
"Why? That's what she is. Everyone in here calls her that except you and that's because she's family. She doesn't even treat you like one" Xin Yi mouthed
"Xin Yi don't say that. Xiao Ling is not that bad when you get to know her, besides, she is my sister so I don't see anything wrong." I said softly trying to make her understand.
Xin Yi barked out a laugh and stood up
"Sister Xiao Mei, you're my senior but at times, you are as naive as a child. Xiao Ling makes you do all her work while she goes around, flirting with big shots. She hasn't created a single design and only steals yours. Your designs brought this company to the length it is now, not her." she complained
"Xiao Ling brought the designs to life, I only sketched them." I replied getting up from the sofa.
Xin Yi stood up too and looked at me with a frown on her, then with a huff, she brushed by me and left my office. Not forgetting to slam the door shut hard to show her annoyance.
I rolled my eyes at her dramatics and also left my office to go to Xiao Ling's, closing the door quietly.
On getting there, her office was left open and I learned that Xiao Ling was big on her privacy, the hard way.
I walked towards it with the intent of shutting it and knocking but stopped because of the strange sounds coming out from her office.
"Ahh!"
"Faster!"
I covered my mouth with my hands in a gasp.
Xiao Ling was bedding someone in her office, but why did she call for me if she knew she was about to do something shrewd, I thought.
"Chen Kai!"
It all became clear when I heard who she called.
I pushed the slightly open door ajar and barged in.
My eyes watered as I took in the position the two very naked pairs were in.
Xiao Ling was on Chen Kai's lap and he was sitting on her table with all my sketches on the floor and Xiao Ling's legs in their place on the said table.
This position put her in direct eyeline with the door which was exactly why she was looking at me with a smirk on her face and my blood ran cold.
Xiao Ling never smirked.
She had a lovely smile which made people chastise me for not smiling more but this shrewd image before me was a complete contrast to her persona.
And suddenly I understood everything. Xiao Ling was a white lotus.
Her kind, composed personality was a sham. This was her true personality, which made me realize that she had been pretending all her life.
She was smirking at me while helping my boyfriend cheat on me.
Ignoring the sudden burn in my chest, I yelled out
"So this is what you do behind my back?!"
In shock, Chen Kai stood up and dumped Xiao Ling in his previously occupied position, turning to me.
His face paled when he realized I was the person who caught them.
"X-Xiao M-Mei it r-really is you. What are you doing here?"
Chen Kai stuttered while running a hand through his messy brown hair.
I stared blankly at him, refusing to give him an easy way out of the mess he created.
Realizing that I wasn't going to respond, Chen Kai cleared his throat.
"Listen to me Xiao Mei, it really isn't what you think. You believe me right?"
he chuckled awkwardly and I couldn't help the scoff that left my lips.
"Chen Kai, I really can't believe a word coming from your mouth while you look like that." I paused and looked at him.
He was totally naked, his body a sweaty mess and his usually calm grey eyes were glassed and running wild.
"At least have the decency to put on your pants before you can start lying to me even though I caught you and Xiao Ling naked and alone in her office. Not forgetting the fact that you had her on your laps"
He immediately scrambled around, looking for his pants to put on.
Not sparing him another glance, I turned to Xiao Ling who was still smirking at me with a glint in her doe-shaped eyes.
Unlike Chen Kai, she was clothed from her waist down and her upper body was bare, showcasing her fair skin.
"Xiao Mei you really can't blame me for this. You never wanted me to touch you and you're too independent. I want a woman who can depend on her man and be submissive." Chen Kai uttered
Noticing Chen Kai was facing us, Xiao Ling's smirk was wiped clean and she immediately wore a look filled with regret.
I scoffed again suddenly feeling a strong headache.
"Chen Kai, do you hear yourself? Are you trying to say you cheating on me with my sister is my fault?" I asked incredulously
"I'm not saying it's your fault but look at it this way, your actions pushed me to do this and-"
"Chen Kai!" I yelled out, interrupting his gaslighting and blame shift.
"Ahh, Xiao Mei you can't be mad at brother Chen, it is my fault," Xiao Ling said, her voice taking a shaky tone and her eyes watered.
This act made me realize I really hated Xiao Ling. With that realization, I faced her entirely.
"Xiao Ling" I called out
"Hm?" she responded
"You disgust me. In the future, let's not act like we're sisters. From henceforth, you're just my aunty's daughter and that's it." I spat and she suddenly burst into tears.
"Xiao Mei! You really can't speak to your sister like that, apologize now" Chen Kai chastised while hugging Xiao Ling to his side and I laughed at his audacity.
"Chen Kai, I'm breaking up with you. You can date Xiao Ling since she is your standard. You both should have a happy and long life together" and with that, I turned to leave.
"Xiao Mei it hasn't come to that extent. We can work this out. Xiao M-"
Seeing Chen Kai was about to follow me, Xiao Ling immediately cried out.
"Brother Chen, you really must stop Xiao Mei. She just took a photo of me"
"What? Xiao Mei get back here this instant! You are not about to ruin your sister's life because of your selfishness" Chen Kai yelled
I didn't pay them any mind and walked out of the office.
Noticing I wasn't listening to him, Chen Kai yelled out again
"Security! Go after her!"
and like a terrible nightmare, I watched in shock as three buff men came prowling towards me and I had no choice but to run.
I raced through the empty office corridor lit with white bulbs and quickly pressed the elevator open and shut it even as one of the men stretched out his hand and nearly had his hands through it.
"Take the stairs, now"
I heard them yell and quickly pressed the number pad to take me straight to the grand floor where I could make my escape through the lobby.
Immediately it pinged open, I quickly raced through the spacious lobby filled with people who were there for an interview I was supposed to conduct.
Pushing past them to get to the glass door, I saw the men racing down the stairs and running toward me in the swarm of people.
While I was having little difficulty in getting the people to move out of my way, the men made way with their guns held threateningly at anyone in their way, and my face whitened.
I quickly pushed through the door, not caring to pull the silver door knob, and raced down the buzzing streets of Shangai while looking for an escape route. Suddenly, my eyes landed on a limousine across the streets with its door wide open.
Not looking, I crossed the streets, ignoring the frantic horns blaring at my risky movement, and quickly entered the car not stopping to question its oddity. Then I closed it shut with a bang.
I sneaked a glance back and realized the thugs were coming at me and one of them seemed to have dragged an old man from his grey Camry with the intent of using it to pursue.
"Go go! move the car, now!" I yelled out but my urgency was met with radio silence.
With the intent to know why apart from the obvious reasons that I was technically hijacking a car, I turned back but was met with a black-haired kid holding a tablet firmly on his lap and staring at me curiously with big brown eyes.
He was sitting across from me but his chubby legs couldn't reach the floor, so they were left hanging.
Despite my predicament, I managed to flash him a smile.
He stared at me blankly for a short while and when I thought he wouldn't return the smile and I would be caught by the men, he flashed me a small smile then turned on his sit and knocked once on the divider separating us from the driver, immediately, the car moved.
I looked at the boy in shock realizing he understood my state and made the driver move the car without asking any questions.
I felt my eyes water slightly and I smiled at him gratefully.
Not wanting to let the kid see me ugly cry, I discreetly wiped under my eyes and then turned to him with a huge smile.
"My prince charming" I cooed and it seemed to bring a huge smile on his face which made him lower his head down while fiddling shyly with the hem of his shirt.
Noticing his expression, my heart seemed to lighten and I found myself scooting forward.
"So what's this little prince's name" I asked and he looked up at me.
Yet again, I thought he wouldn't respond but he shocked me delightfully when he said softly
"Wu Xiao Long"
"Wow, such a beautiful name. Little Long is such a brave kid" I praised and watched in amusement as a little pout appeared on his lips.
"I'm not little" he softly opposed and I found myself grinning at his cuteness
"Really?"
He nodded vigorously
"But there's nothing wrong with being called small. You're Xiao Long and I'm Xiao Mei. I'm also little, see?" I said and watched his face lighten and his fat cheeks color red in a blush.
My hands itched to pinch his adorable cheeks and before I could help it, my hands were stretched to carry out my intrusive thoughts.
"It would be in your best interest to keep your filthy hands to yourself if you don't want to lose it"
I turned to my side and then screamed at the figure beside me
"Aah!"
