Chapter 1 - Prologue

The fading sunlight seeped through the cracks of dust-laden windows, casting long shadows on the creaking wooden floor. Inside the building, forgotten by time, the scent of old paper and damp wood filled the air. Clara, her curiosity boundless, stepped cautiously into the abandoned library. Her cloak trailed softly on the dusty floor, but her eyes sparkled with intrigue, brimming with an insatiable thirst for discovery.

She had always loved books—every page, every story contained within them felt like a tiny world waiting to be explored. And this library, though neglected, held the promise of ancient secrets yet to be uncovered. For years, no one dared to set foot in this place. People said there was something strange about it, something unseen yet ever-present.

Clara dismissed those stories. To her, this library was a treasure trove waiting to be unearthed.

"This is it," she whispered to herself, her fingers grazing the tall, dusty shelves as she searched for something more than just ordinary pages. But her steps faltered as her gaze landed on an old door at the far end of the room—a door that was never mentioned in any records about this library.

With her heart pounding, she approached the door. There was no lock, only a peculiar seal etched in the center, a symbol she had never seen before. Her curiosity overpowered any fear or doubt.

Her hand reached out, touching the seal.

Without warning, the seal began to glow faintly, and slowly, the door creaked open. A cold gust of wind rushed out, brushing against Clara's face, making her step back in surprise. Beyond the door lay something—something far older than the library itself, something that was meant to remain sealed.

She didn't know what she had just done, but the faint rumble emanating from the darkness made one thing clear: she had opened something that should never have been opened.

And from within the shadows, the Gate of 1000 Worlds began to stir.

Clara took a few steps back, her breath caught in her throat. The ancient door, hidden beneath layers of dust and shadow, now stood wide open before her. A faint light glimmered from within, beckoning her to step closer. Yet amidst the burning curiosity, a deep-seated fear tugged at her heart.

From the threshold of the door, there was something different. The still air now swirled gently around her, carrying faint whispers in a language she could not understand. Clara glanced around, searching for some kind of explanation, but the empty, silent library offered nothing but more questions.

She stepped closer, examining the symbol on the door again. There was nothing familiar about it. Yet, the old locket hanging around her neck—a gift from her late mother—began to tremble softly. For the first time, it reacted to something—whether as a warning or an invitation, she could not tell.

With trembling hands, Clara lifted the locket, studying it carefully. Before she could ponder further, a voice whispered softly in her ear—a voice from nowhere.

"You have been chosen..."

The words sent chills down her spine. Yet her curiosity was too strong to ignore. Swallowing her fear, Clara stepped across the threshold. Darkness enveloped her instantly, but within that darkness, she could sense something vast, something waiting—and somehow, she knew that once she entered, her life would never be the same again.

As her foot touched the ground beyond the door, there was a faint clicking sound, like a seal being released. Before Clara could process what had happened, the world around her began to shift.

The creaking floor of the library vanished beneath her feet, replaced by howling winds and an infinite expanse of space. Before her stretched the Gate of 1000 Worlds—a gateway to the unknown. Clara stood frozen, her heart racing, as shadows in the distance began to move, slowly drawing closer.

And that was when it all began. Her accidental discovery had unlocked a doorway to worlds she had never imagined. Without realizing it, Clara had set into motion a journey that would test every ounce of her strength, every choice she made, and every part of who she was.

Her destiny was now inscribed among those worlds—balanced on the edge between light and darkness.
