[Congratulations! You have been chosen as the new Dungeon Master of a brand-new dungeon!]
[You were selected thanks to the game Dungeon Master, created by the gods in your world!]
[Do you accept?]
"What happens if I refuse? Will you just force someone else?"
[You will be sent back to earth, forgetting everything. For transmigration to work, the person must willingly accept; otherwise, the process fails.]
"I accept!"
After all, I had no one on earth. I was an orphan, and my friends were practically nonexistent. The only thing I ever did was play video games. And Dungeon Master was my favorite.
[The gods chose you because you truly enjoyed the game. You weren't necessarily looking for the best strategy but rather countless ways to create a dungeon and fully immerse yourself in it!]
[The gods will resurrect you if you die, but after several centuries. Moreover, if you die too often, you will be reincarnated back on earth.]
[It is possible for you to become the new Goddess of Dungeons if the gods deem you worthy.]
A blinding light surrounds me, then darkness swallows me whole. When I open my eyes again, I find myself in a room with a floating yellow crystal at its center.
This is the dungeon's main chamber. That crystal is the dungeon's core—if it's destroyed, the dungeon collapses, and I die.
A translucent window appears before me. This is the dungeon system. In this world, everyone receives a system at the age of sixteen. Moreover, to use magic or any other skills, one must purchase them via this system. For example, if someone wants to cast a fireball, they need to acquire it first—otherwise, it's impossible to use.
I check my system display. I have 10,000 Dungeon Points, and I need to choose my race. The selection is massive: monsters, demons, angels, elves, dwarves, humans... The most expensive options cost 10,000 points, including races like dragon, high demon, or high angel. On the other hand, the most basic option, a simple slime, costs only one point.
After reviewing all the races, I make my decision… Slime!
[Are you sure?]
"Yes!"
[Race: Slime]
[Racial Abilities]
[Absorption Space]: Allows you to store objects inside your stomach with a limited capacity. Be careful—overloading it may have negative consequences.
[Puddle]: Enables you to transform into a puddle and take on the appearance of any liquid.
[Do you confirm your choice?]
"No!"
I take a moment to check the abilities of other races out of curiosity. Once satisfied, I return to the slime option.
A new window pops up: Dungeon Type Selection. There are countless choices. The ideal type depends on the environment—for example, in the middle of the sea, a ghost ship dungeon would make sense, whereas in a plain, a forest or rocky dungeon would be more suitable.
"Show me my location."
A map appears, indicating that I am inside a cave. If that's the case, I know exactly what kind of dungeon to pick!
"I choose a labyrinth dungeon!"
My points decrease by 400. A labyrinth forms around my main chamber, roughly the size of a basketball court.
Next comes the selection of spawner monsters and treasure chests.
Spawner monsters are creatures, more or less weak, that can give birth to an unlimited number of monsters.
For spawner monsters, I pick:
One Normal Slime Queen (10 points)
One Acid Slime Queen (50 points)
Never underestimate slimes! They share my racial abilities, and the acid slimes can spit acid! The queens will continuously produce normal slimes and guardian slimes.
Guardian slimes are three times larger than normal slimes. Plus, slimes don't fight each other, even when evolving. That means a normal slime can absorb another slime and launch it at an intruder. A guardian can even hold another guardian inside itself! In short, they're unpredictable and numerous.
And if the two slime types combine… No need for me to explain. Any explorer who doesn't pay attention won't be coming out alive ~
I place the slime queens in a large room. I take the opportunity to plan their movements. The guardian slimes mostly stay with them, packed with normal slimes and even other guardians inside their stomachs. If things get too crowded, they can spread into the labyrinth. The normal slimes are free to roam wherever they want.
For treasure, I select:
Gemstones in a chest, with five possible random locations (200 points).
Trapped chests that explode upon opening, placed in the same random spots as the gemstone chests (300 points).
If explorers aren't careful, they'll end up seriously injured... or worse. Hahaha~
I have 39 points left, but that's fine for now. All I have to do is wait for adventurers. According to the game, they should arrive soon.
In the meantime, I approach the dungeon core and activate Absorption Space.
My mouth opens, and I swallow the crystal whole! It takes up almost all the space in my stomach, but at least it's safe. That's why I chose to be a slime! To destroy the dungeon, they either have to kill me or have a special skill that can strike directly into my stomach!
Next, I test Puddle, transforming into a puddle of water. If I don't move, I look just like a simple puddle! Perfect.
After playing around a little, I explore the rest of the Dungeon System.
[Profile] [Map] [Dungeon Points Store] [Dungeon Monsters]
I open the map and see my dungeon displayed in both 2D and 3D, just like in the game. That's a good sign.
Then, I decide to test the Dungeon Core's abilities.
It allows me to move the dungeon's walls, but at the cost of a huge amount of mana.
Can I still use it from inside my stomach? The answer is yes!
I try shifting a wall... but I can only create a small hole, half my size. Fortunately, with my slime body, I can slip through easily.
The problem is that my mana takes forever to regenerate… Oh well! New objective: create a bunch of small tunnels to escape if needed!
A week passes. I can tell thanks to the date and time displayed in the dungeon system.
Finally, someone enters!
[Bandit – Rank G]
Ho ho ho~ Finally!
