Chapter 1 - Intro.

This work is AU from the time when Lucifer and Chloe had their so-called date when the detective dumped Kinley's vial into his glass. The rest of seasons 4, 5, and 6 do not exist in my universe. I also delayed Eve's arrival so that there was no mention of her at the time of the date. I came up with a slightly different role for her in my story, so I have to put the other pieces on the chessboard before I can bring her into the picture.

You should know that this is not my first story. I wrote another fanfiction in which my main character was older and more mature. This story came about because I still had some plot bunnies running around in my head, stirring things up. The other story has since grown into two full novels, over 1800 pages, and I am quietly working on the third part of what appears to be a trilogy. (I took that story offline temporarily to change some minor things but will have it back online soon). Apparently I have enough room in my brain to maintain a spacious plot bunny ranch filled with those fluffy critters in all the colors that reflect their characters. Some are wistfully sweet in a sparkling rainbow color (which Lucifer hates, due to his expensive tailored suits and perfectly groomed hair and glitters being sticky; he learned the hard way through Trixie). Others are dark and gritty and represent chapters where my characters get dark and have no problem going Old Testament.

I put the first seven chapters online without much thought. It was just a run-out for some of the wild plot bunnies and what was going to be a simple, fun little story. After rereading it a few times, however, I decided to put a little more time and energy into it because the various characters seemed to deserve it, and because I found that I actually had a lot more to say than I first thought.

Personally, I feel that the writers of the show missed the ball considerably after the end of season three and Chloe's flight to the Vatican. All the elements were there to work with the supernatural. I felt there was more to it than just making it some kind of sitcom about a dysfunctional family. That they missed the opportunity to give the story more depth. But again, that is personal taste.

The story picks up, as mentioned, just before Chloe can dump the vial into Lucifer's glass and focuses more on the supernatural without losing sight of the characters and their relationships with each other. Some of the characters from the later seasons, such as Michael, Gabriel, and God, also make ample appearances but in a different form and with different motivations. I made Trixie a bit older than she would have been in canon because…well you will have to read to find that out. This is AU, so almost anything goes.
