Chereads / Dialogue with a Stranger / Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

I see the bus stopped nearly from our house. I see it from the window here in our living room. At first, it looked like that passenger bus I always see, the one frequently that passes. But the further I read the letters written in the back of it made me think that's new!

That bus is a university bus. Weird. I rarely see it like right now. I assume that there is not much of a college students in our area but that is something new, really. Given that the area is covered with mountains and curvy roads. I've seen that bus but not here in our area.

"You're staring outside for too long. What do you see? Something fascinating?"

Jonathan joined me here in this living room. He was eating the cookies that was nearly burned. We're still waiting for Andy and Floriece. Where are they now anyway? It had never taken them this long.

"I see the bus from one of the top universities! It momentarily stop for a while and then it started its engine and drove away."

"Hmm, I see nothing." He tried to look back outside where the bus could not be seen because it was gone, taken its chance to only reveal itself to me and not to my friend.

A knock from outside the door had me jumping up from my seat. I race to the door handle and opened it.

Two smiling faves creeped me out. Andy and Floriece never smiled like that.

"Woah, what's with that face?"

"Is that Andy and Flor, Lav?"

Shouted Jonathan.

"Yes they're here!" I shouted back.

The two lifted the shopping bags. They each have their own.

"We have some good news Lav!" Andy screamed. I had to put my hands in my ears to protect it.

"Ssh. Your voice Andy, come on Lav, help us with this bags. This aren't light you know."

I helped Flor with one from her four bags. I don't know where she'd get the money to buy all this when I think this are all branded items. The ones they always show on television advertisements.

Flor put all the bags on the blanket. Near the sofas from the living room. My Mom offered the cookies to Andy and Flor and Jonathan look at those bags with confusions too.

"Where did you get all that?" Jonathan asked.

"Don't worry. I didn't convince my mother to give more money than I could ever have. This is from a scholarship! I pass the university entrance exams and Flor got in too!"

"Woah, are you for real? I haven't heard from the university I've applied and you two already got accepted?"

The two nodded. That explains the bus from earlier, right?

My thoughts drown me so deep that I forgot they were talking to me and now they're looking at me. All of them.

"Lav, do you hear us?"

"Hello?" Flor jokingly waved her hands at me trying to steal me from my train of ideas.

I snapped and ask her what she just said. "Sorry, what did you say?"

The three of them slap their forehead.

I laugh.

"Sorry, what is it?"

"Have you opened your mail? Maybe you got some acceptance letter from a university too."

Univeristy. Admissions. Letter. Digital or written?

"I haven't check yet but I will later. Now, what's inside these bags?"

Andy grab her lemonade. I made it for her. She prefers healthy drink from unhealthy ones. Flor is sipping on her black coffee. While Nathan drinks his colas.

"They're rewards because we are the top of our class last year. They've given us incentive to do better at school and purposely-driven which I find cool."

Flor nodded and took the cup to the kitchen.

"We bought materials for our picnic today. I know right, I know the plan is not to bring that much but hey, this will be our last summer together."

"Why do you sound like we're not gonna see each other in ten years?" I asked. She's really using words that are hard to comprehend. Its either she's kidding or she's not.

"You know we are going to be busy starting this year. We applied for different universities and..." Andy's eyes widened like she just figured out something.

"Wait... did you? Did you also applied from our university?"

I don't know what she's talking about. She haven't yet revealed the school she's pertaining.

"Well, tell me first which university is it?"

"Its Hansford"

Nathan and I gasped. Really? If they pass the exam there then the chances of me getting into that school is impossible. And even if I pass I could not handle the school fees.

"They have scholarhsips? Is it still available?" Nathan sat next to Andy to inquire further.
