Chapter 1 - The Awakening Nightmare

It was the day of weekend. I was heading to the mall with my friends, enjoying a normal day. We took the elevator to our destination, but just as we arrived, a loud commotion erupted from the ground floor's main area. Curious, we rushed to see what was happening from the third floor.

What we saw was neither human nor zombie—it was something entirely different, a species unknown to us. In an instant, the peaceful mall descended into chaos. People screamed and ran in every direction, desperate to escape. Fear gripped us, and we hurried into a nearby store, locking ourselves inside.

After some time, the noise outside faded. Believing it was safe, we decided to leave the mall, but what awaited us was beyond imagination. A strange, grotesque substance covered the walls and floors. It was unlike anything we had ever seen—disgusting and unnatural. Bodies lay scattered everywhere, lifeless.

Summoning our courage, we made our way to the elevator, hoping to escape. As we stepped outside, the world was unrecognizable. Buildings collapsed, airplanes plummeted from the sky, crashing into structures, turning the city into a scene of pure apocalypse.

Realizing we had left some of our friends inside, we rushed back into the mall. Taking the elevator up, we barely had a moment to think before something emerged from the corner of the lift. It was one of those creatures—distorted, horrifying. It lunged at me. I struggled, barely managing to break free from its grasp. We ran, but it pursued us relentlessly. The faster we ran, the faster it followed.

And then... my memory goes blank. No matter how hard I try, I can't recall what happened next.

All I remember is that, after what was likely a desperate fight for survival inside the mall, we set off toward Greenforest. We had heard rumors that some survivors had built a shelter there. It was our only hope.

I saw us moving through the forest, fear gripping every step we took. But after that, everything went blank. The next thing I remember, we had reached the village—but the situation there was far from safe.

Those creatures roamed freely at night, and during the day, an unstoppable storm would strike without warning. The weather was beyond comprehension. One day, as we were exploring the area, a violent gust of wind—faster than anything we had ever seen—rushed in like a force of nature. We struggled to make our way back to the shelter, barely managing to get inside. The buildings somehow withstood the storm, but then, horror struck.

One of my friends was still outside.

As we rushed to help him, the sky darkened, consumed by an ominous black cloud. I saw his eyes, filled with tears, silently pleading for help. I reached out my hand, and he extended his. Our fingers touched—just for a moment.

And then, in an instant, something unknown took him.

One second he was there, the next he was gone. The only thing left in my grasp was his severed hand.

It was devastating. The memory felt so vivid, so real, as if I had truly lived through it. But the terrifying truth?

It was just a dream.

Or at least… it was supposed to be.
