2095, Tokyo Japan
A man hunched over at a computer slowly straightens his posture as he reads a message. He quickly stands up and bolts out of a little dingy apartment he calls home and rushes straight outside, a manic grin present on his face. He was currently wearing a loose t-shirt and shorts with slippers, yet he didn't care.
His black hair flows backwards from the sprint, and his eyes with clear, heavy eye bags gleam with excitement.
'We finally did it.....WE FUCKING FINALLY FINISHED THE DAMN THING!' He thought as he approached closer to the sky-high skyscraper where his lab was.
As he was about to enter, a hand stopped him. He looked up with a scowl and grabbed the hand that was blocking him. "Move it"
"Sorry, can't let you go in without ID,", The bodyguard said.
'Of all the times to leave it at home...' he thought bitterly.
"C'mon, please! I'm Uriel! Yknow, head scientist?" The man, Uriel, was clearly in a rush.
"HAHAHA! Ah, you know how many people come here trying to proclaim they are Uriel? Seriously.....at least try a little." The bodyguard pushed him a little as he said that.
With all his power, he barely manages to stay upright; strength is not his strong suit.
Ticke off, he breathes in deeply and shouts at the top of his lungs,
"YYYOOOOOKKKKOOOOO!!!!!!!!"
Everyone around them started staring at the man who was acting insane.
"You damn bra-" "What is going on here?" A girl with red hair and a suit appears right behind the bodyguard, interrupting him. She was quite a bit smaller than the bodyguard and yet had a lot more presence. She was the secretary of the Uriel, though now she was more of a team secretary rather than Uriel's.
She glanced around for a while before looking directly at Uriel's eyes, her eyes widened. With a smirk, Uriel approaches her, "Yoko, tell these bastards who I am"
"Don't know him" She says while looking at him in anger.
"Well, I would know him if he had bothered to show up here in the last...she checks her watch 2 AND A HALF YEARS!" She said with clear rage in her eyes.
She grabbed his ear and twisted it quite violently, his cries of pain only making her happier before she finally let him go
Begrudgingly, she sighed and told the bodyguards, "Let him in. He is, believe it or not, the head scientist "
His eyes widened, he bowed respectively and muttered apologies to Uriel.
Uriel, who didn't really care, dismissed it with a wave of his hand. "Yeah yeah can't really blame you for not letting me in." He walked in with Yoko and headed to the staff-designated elevator.
At first, she was quiet, but she sighed. "So? Why exactly are you here?"
Uriel looked at her funny, "you haven't heard?"
"Heard what?"
"The project's done"
"..."
"..."
"WHAT?!" She screamed in his ear. "Those.... Those fucking bastards didn't inform me?"
"Hahahaha! Fucking loser, get recked, bozo." Uriel teased her and laughed at her.
"You be quiet!"
Uriel didn't listen and soon these two were punching and kicking each other, yet no one was hurt, considering they both were about as strong as a 2-year-old child
When the elevator opened, an old man was standing there, watching as the head scientist and secretary walked out of the elevator with rustled clothes and heavy breathing
"Tsk, tsk, young people these days..."
Uriel's pov:
"So? What are you gonna do now?" Yoko said while fixing her clothes, "The reason you took that 2-and-a-half-year-long break was that you wanted to finish the damn thing. So what now, you finally gonna start owning her and actually working?"
I looked into the distance while sighing. "I... Don't know. Honestly, with how many hours I put into that thing, it practically consumed my life whole, now that it's done I'm feeling kinda empty"
Yoko rolled her eyes, "Oh please, you're barely 22, you've got your whole life in front of you. Mr Uriel 'God brain' Rhinehart"
"You know how much I hate that clingy ass nickname"
"That's why I use it"
Our banter continued back and forth until they finally reached the door. I looked with pure glee and excitement, about to combust.
Yoko looked at his side profile and then huffed, "Seriously...." She whispered quietly before shoving me in there.
Finally, at the door, I look around, and see it, and them, his team.
Akira Takahashi.
A tall lanky dude with a curly dirty blonde head of hair. His eyes were bright green, with a look of wisdom few could match. He had bags under his eyes, the same as the rest of the team.
Hiori Takahashi
The wife of Akira, they both got together because of science and they still aren't sick of each other. Her bright orange hair and brown eyes could make any man swoon.
Mana Fujimoto.
A short glasses-wearing girl with light blue hair and purple eyes. She has thick-rimmed glasses.
I looked around and saw a mirror and, by extension, myself.
Uriel Rhinehart.
I am a little short black-haired dude with black eyes. Although I don't like saying it, I am extremely smart. Extremely smart. I am the youngest person in history to not only win a Nobel prize but win 4 of them as well.
I.... Lived my life for physics and nothing but physics... My genius-level intellect was noticed when I was young, and I literally did nothing else but study and do physics and other sciences. I'm the best at physics but I can rival the top scientists of the other fields as well. I stare into the mirror and look at my dead, black eyes before I turn again and see it.
A giant machine with countless amounts of wire hooked into it. A giant circular frame with nothing inside.
"You guys said it worked?" I address the rest of the team without looking at them.
"Yeah, it was a real tough son of a bitch. We physically couldn't have done it without you, so we decided to turn it off to give you the pleasure," Akira said as he led me to a big red button.
I looked around and saw that both Hiori, Yoko and Mana gave me a small but curt nod, their eyes glowing happily as well.
I look down at the button and smash it.
...
...
.. whizzzzzzz.....
Krrr....krrr....kkrrrr
The humming came and the electric currents made everyone's hair stand up. The giant machine's hollow insides started filling up with a magical pinkish hue before it burst into life and made a small shockwave.
"As much as I hate to admit it, your theory was right...." Mana started to talk, "The quantum tunnelling did work, and it caused the atoms to collide with each other and created it.....
A portal to another world!" She said with a smirk on her tired face...
Years.... It had been years since I started this project; I walked towards it.
"Careful, we haven't tested it yet for life compatibility". Hiori said
I nodded and simply stared at it... And tears started falling out of my eyes.
The others started to look at me with soft gazes.
I turned around and looked at them with a tear-filled smile.
"I'll treat you guys to some real good food," I said, getting a chuckle out of the team; outside the door, Yoko looked at them fondly.
"Don't worry, I doubt it will dent you walle-".
Shing...
The sound of a knife piercing someone could be heard. We all turned around and saw a person dressed in black stabbing Yoko.
My eyes widened as I screamed "YOKO!"
"Capture the leader, kill the others," the person said as he pointed at me.
There, another two people came. One of them went to my team and the other straight at me.
'Shit, there's nowhere to dodge or go! Except...shit shit! Yoko.... Fuck I can't think properly! Why...' I looked around and saw that my team was handling it. They were holding the assassin off, but they couldn't last.
'I need to escape!' I think as I try to run but the assassin caught me and hit me on my head.
'Shit, that hurts' I tried dodging but...
I tripped.
I fucking tripped.
There was nothing I could do at this point. My centre of gravity was too far out, and I was physically unable to do anything due to my weak build...
I tripped.
In the corner of my eyes, I see a bluish hue approaching... 'The... portal?' That was my last thought I could consciously think before the back of my head touched the portal. Then I passed out.
Third person pov:
The team looked as my head touched the portal... And the portal began vibrating as it threw the body of Uriel away. It began vibrating faster and faster, the machine started producing a humming noise. The sensors started going haywire.
'Shit' Akira thought.
"Everyone! Run the fuck away! It's about to explode!!" Akira said as he landed the final kick to an assassin's stomach.
He busted through the assassin at the door and picked Yoko up, he started applying pressure to the wound and looked behind.
Both Mana and Hiori, on Hioris's back was Uriel's body. They were following him...good...
Yet so were the two remaining assassins.
'Tch! No time for that!' He thought as he sprinted out of the floor into the Comms room.
He picked up a mic as he began talking, "This I not a drill. Please evacuate the building. Potential explosion! I repeat Not a drill, and explosion may be occuring soon!" And with that, chaos ensued. Everyone was escaping.
A couple hours late and the assassins were apprehended. They were probably spies hired by another country to get Uriel. They couldn't go to his house; that place was rigged with traps and protection. So they waited at this opportune moment to get him. Or so Akira thought.
Nobody had died, but the building was gone. The explosion evaporated an entire tree rooms and the shockwave and heat tore the entire building apart. A lot of them had injuries, but thanks to Akira, none of them died.
He was in the hospital waiting room, waiting for the doctor to come out. He was with Hioris and Mana, both of whom were really down.
Just then, a doctor came out looking quite confused and shocked.
All three of them went to the doctor.
"Uhm, so I have... Good news. And.... The bad news?" The doctor said in a questioning tone.
"Good news, the girl, Yoko, survived. She will have to be hospitalised for quite a while but she will live without any major concerns"
All of them smiled a little before Akira asked, "...what about Uriel"
"That's the problem. We... Don't know."
"What do you mean you int know?!" Hiori asked, a little impatient.
"As you know, since Uriel is such an important figure not only to us, Japan, but the world, doctors from all around the world tried to help. But.... None of us can figure out what is happening to his body. His heart is beating, his organs are working fine... Yet he has no brain waves!" The doctor emphasized.
"What?...what does that mean? Is he in a coma?" Mana asked, worry quite evidently etched on her face.
"No, even coma patients have some form of brain activity, to tell the organs to do something or to get the body going, even during a coma. In his case, there are literally zero brain waves. Yet his body is alive. This has never happened before in the recorded history of humanity.....it's almost as if.....
His soul is not there"
Uriel's pov:
Strange...I feel strange. I don't feel my body..... It feels like I'm floating... Am I dead? Was I wrong, is there an afterlife? Does god exist? I start to wonder before I feel like I'm being tugged by...an unknown force? I try going against it but I can't. I...I'm getting dragged!
I reach out to grab something, anything and then
*Gasp!* I gasp out as I stare at...a chubby hand? I look around, 'where....this isn't a hospital....' I look at my hand....' this.....isn't my hand.' I glance around quickly and see a mirror, I run over to it and find... Someone else's face?
Ah
I'm in someone else's body.
I....
I.....
"Fuck.... I transmigrated"
