Chapter 9 - NEW ROOM, OLD TENSIONS

Titi returned to his room, his mind still lingering on his conversation with the sisters. I just hope this school won't make things even harder for me, he thought, sighing. He tried to push the thought aside, but as soon as he remembered the dream, his mood darkened again.

Shaking it off, he headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. The cool water did little to clear his thoughts, but at least he felt refreshed. Changing into fresh clothes, he grabbed his strap bag and stepped out—he had errands to run. His room was still too bare, and he needed essentials: a mattress, pillow, window blinds, gas burner, and some kitchenware.

An hour later, he returned in a shuttle, arms full of his purchases. As he struggled with the load, his neighbors—James, Obi, Sharon, and Femi—came out to help. The twins, Taiwo and Kende, trailed behind them, calling out, "Be careful! Don't let anything fall!"

With their help, everything was quickly moved into his room. Titi nodded in appreciation. "Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it."

As he spoke, his eyes flickered to the back of the group, where David stood with his arms crossed, wearing an expression that was anything but friendly.

Titi frowned internally. Who be this one abeg? Wetin be him problem?

Brushing it off, he thanked everyone again and stepped into his room. It was going to be a long day—he still had to set everything up.

.....

Outside, by the Villa Entrance

Taiwo and Kende turned to face David, unimpressed.

"What is your problem?" Taiwo asked bluntly.

David scoffed. "What are you talking about?"

Kende folded her arms. "Everyone was helping our new neighbor, but you just stood there watching. What was that about?"

David rolled his eyes. "I'm under no obligation to help him. Besides, you guys had it covered."

Obi, who had been standing nearby, chimed in. "David get point sha. We already had enough hands. His extra help wouldn't have changed much."

Sharon, James, and Femi nodded in agreement, but Taiwo and Kende weren't convinced. They exchanged glances, scoffed, and walked off.

David watched them leave, his jaw tightening. Ever since that bastard came here, things with me and Kende have been off—especially Kende.

Sharon, Obi, James, and Femi shared knowing looks before Obi shook his head and muttered, "David, even if you no like the guy, you no suppose show am like that."

David turned on him. "Why I no go show am? Who he be? He be God?"

Obi clicked his tongue and lowered his voice. "Guy, calm down na. No dey fight another man because of woman. E no make sense."

Sharon raised a brow. "For real."

David scowled. "Abeg, make una no put mouth for my matter," he snapped, turning and walking off.

The others exchanged amused glances before James chuckled. "Omo, this guy dey fuck up o. Obi, talk to your roommate."

Obi sighed. "I don talk to am already."

Everyone just shook their heads.

Titi moved around, unpacking his things. He tore the plastic wrapping off his new mattress and arranged his gas burner, plates, and other essentials neatly. Stepping back, he took a moment to look at his room. It was still far from fully furnished, but at least now, it looked like a place someone lived in.

He sat down on the floor, resting his back against the bed, deep in thought. Tomorrow is Monday... that means I'll probably start classes. Maybe the school library has some information on him.

His fingers tapped idly against his knee as he set his next goal—to visit the school library and find out more about Sango, the god of thunder.
