Chapter 1 - The Demon Child

The air in the demon realm was thick with the scent of blood and decay, a place where the strong devoured the weak, and mercy was a forgotten concept. Deep within the ruined outskirts of the Abyssal Wastes, a lone child sat atop a pile of bones, his crimson eyes staring at the endless sky. His name was Kael, a boy raised among demons but never truly one of them.

He was human.

Yet, from the moment of his birth, he carried an aura so unnatural that even the most vicious demons hesitated in his presence. They feared him—not because he was one of them, but because he was something else entirely. Something that even they could not comprehend.

Kael had no parents. He had no real family. The only ones who ever cared for him were a handful of demons, especially one—a demon friend who saw him not as prey, but as a companion. His name was Raihn, a noble-hearted demon in a world where kindness was a weakness.

But kindness had a price.

One day, Raihn was torn apart before Kael's eyes. Killed by his own kind for being 'too weak.' Kael never forgot. His heart, once capable of warmth, hardened like stone. He hated demons.

Yet, despite his hatred, he had no love for humans either. In his mind, no human was ever as good as Raihn. No human had ever fought beside him, bled beside him, or died for him. So why should he trust them?

But all of that changed when he set foot in the human world for the first time.

Kael's arrival in the human world was unceremonious. One moment, he was standing in the demon realm, watching the moonlit sky, and the next—he was falling.

Through a portal of swirling darkness, he crashed into the middle of a bustling city. Lights, sounds, and unfamiliar scents overwhelmed his senses. He barely had time to adjust before he heard the panicked screams of people running in every direction.

Kael frowned. Are they scared of me?

No.

Something was wrong. The stench of blood filled the air, but it wasn't his.

A massive creature—twisted and grotesque—emerged from the shadows, its many eyes glowing with hunger. A Lesser Nightmare, a beast from the demon realm that had somehow followed him through.

Kael sighed.

He had been here for less than five minutes, and he already had to fight.
