Third party pov.
In a quaint café, a young woman is engrossed in reading her own stories while enjoying a salad and a glass of lassi, a traditional Indian beverage. Her glasses, which she seldom wears, are slipping down her nose. She have long straight hair that nearly reaches her waist. Her eyes resemble those of an eagle, and she has a petite, button-like nose. The graceful curve of her upper lip enhances the fullness of her lips. Her face is elegantly oval-shaped, complemented by a modestly prominent forehead.
Her phone begins to rings, she bends her neck and sees the caller through the papers. She picks up the phone. "Hey buddy, how are you doing?" she asked.
Jay chuckles and remarks "I'm attempting to recover from the hangover."
" why you have to drink so much?" she asked.
"Ahh.. girl, you cannot imagine the sense of tranquility that washes over you when you hold short in one hand and a beautiful lady in the other" he responds with a chuckle.
" sorry.. not interested in knowing" she replied.
" I know girl, that's why we never force you".
" and thank you for that" Metty says with appreciation.
Metty is from India. She came to New York a year ago. She writes her own short stories for kids. Two years back, she started to write short stories online to overcome her overthinking but she never expected that her stories would attract large numbers of viewers. She started to write books for kids under a big Indian publisher's company.
Her writing is generally in English, so, it started to attract international attention. A company called Kid's Imagination based in NY called her and asked if she could write few stories for their publications.
They are providing a good amount of money and working with international clients can bring her writing career a different peak, so she talks to her publisher and asks about his opinion. Her publisher knows that she has a great talent and she needs to explore the international market, so he wishes her good luck.
She was raised by a single mother and she has one elder sister and one younger brother. She has a family she could ever wish for. Her mother had done everything she could have done for her kids' dream and Matty always wanted to pay her back, and finally she is doing it. her contract will be over in one week and in two weeks she will be home with her family.
"Girl, remember I gave you a pouch of ring two days ago" Jay asked.
"Yes, I have it" she said, looking at her ring finger. "OK great, I will get it back tonight" he said with a sigh.
Jay was born in NY, but his family came here from India. His grandfather started his jewelry business here and it's run down the line. Jay is a nice guy, although he is more of a party and girl type. Unlike Metty, he is a good human being. Jay and Metty met accidently when she was searching for an apartment and he was searching for his friend called Ramond. He also likes the apartment she lives in, but it's small for his friend and he rejects it but by luck Metty came to see the same apartment and it's her type so she gets it.
After two days she met them in a café near her apartment. They recognized each other and then shared the same table. She came to know that his friend had found his apartment two blocks away from her apartment. After that, they started to hang out together.
As Metty was going back to India and she already started to pack her things up when Jay gave the ring to her . The ring is in a very different type of pouch which looks ancient and expensive also. It has golden layered designed on both bottom and the top, and it gives the vibe of someone's possession. The ring looked uniquely crafted and way more than she could afford, so she decided to wear it on her finger instead of putting its somewhere in her apartment, which she might lost due to packing.
While wearing it, she saw the size of the ring. It looked the perfect size for her ring finger and without any second thought she wore it. A clicking sound could be heard from it but she didn't think much about it.
She check the time and it was time to meet the publisher for her last story, which she had just finished reviewing.
