After meeting the private detective, Cecilia returned to the hotel in the early morning, exhausted.
However, she found an unexpected guest in the lobby, waiting for her.
Samuel Kingsley.
He came to the hotel she was staying at, but it was closed to the public since the owner’s son was currently here. Thus, he had to wait in the lobby.
It was hard to ignore Cecilia’s stunning presence wherever she went, so he noticed her the moment she appeared.
Lamenting his past poor judgment, he approached her with a flower bouquet in hand.
"Welcome back, my fiancée."
Cecilia frowned in confusion.
‘What’s he up to? Isn’t our engagement over? Did he get amnesia?’
Ignoring him, she walked toward the hotel quickly.
However, he blocked her path again.
Her gaze turned frosty, her patience running thin.
"Move aside."
Unfazed, Samuel chuckled and approached her.
"Cecilia, I know you're angry with me, but we’re still engaged. You shouldn't be mad."
She sneered. "I've canceled it. Your fiancée now is Sophie Morrison, so don't act foolish in front of me."
Samuel, undeterred, continued, "Sophie and I weren't engaged. She tried to seduce me, and I got bewitched. You’ve always been my only fiancée, Cecilia."
She stared at him, struggling to hold back from laughing.
Of course, it wasn’t because he had impressed her. As Sophie had been trying so hard to marry him, the thought of seeing her reaction to his words amused her.
On the other side of the lobby, Steven lounged with one leg crossed over the other, watching the laughing pair with visible disdain.
Zane frowned as he said, “Mr. Lawrence, it was one thing for Miss Morrison to try and use the young master to climb her way up, but now she’s even engaged I think we should get rid of her as soon as possible.”
Steven's voice was icy. “Investigate her thoroughly.”
With that, he got up and left.
Her stunning smile wasn’t meant for him alone. Therefore, he wanted nothing to do with it.
Meanwhile, Samuel grew more confident seeing Cecilia’s smile.
"Cecilia, trust me, if you marry me, I wouldn't mind that you've conceived before."
He scanned her from head to toe, his eyes gleaming lustfully.
"But honestly, you don't look like someone who's given birth before."
Cecilia’s smile vanished at his words.
How dare he talk about that?
She struck him across the face with a swift motion.
Slap!
The sound echoed crisply.
Samuel was left frozen, his smile completely gone.
"You're unworthy of mentioning my child. Get lost!"
With that, she left quickly.
Samuel grasped his burning cheek, gritting his teeth in fury.
“You’re just a whore acting pure! Just you wait. I’ll make you come back crawling, begging to marry me!"
Back at her room's doorway, Cecilia overheard laughter and chatter inside.
Emma's antics never failed to surprise her.
"Okay, let's do this—your dad will be my dad, and my mom will be your mom. How about that?"
"Okay."
"So, you're now my little brother. Call me 'Big sister'."
"No."
"Why not?"
"Just don't want to."
Cecilia was bewildered. She left for just one night, and this little girl had already claimed a father for herself.
And a brother, too.
But who was the child Emma was talking to?
