The king of seasons, spring, was in full swing. Trees were welcoming the new leaves like their children, plants and flowers were trying their best to show their beauty. In this season, the whole of nature wears a colorful sheet. Flowers become the clothes of the trees and the intoxicating wind of the Malay mountain swings them. Mahua flowers bloom profusely in this season. The entire forest was getting intoxicated with the smell of Mahua.
The villagers used to come to the forest only occasionally, but for the last five years, he has been crossing that forest every day to come to Guru Kan for weapons training.
Birds were chirping on the trees. Rabbits were hopping like cotton balls and running away on hearing the sound of Vidhan's footsteps.
Just then the cuckoo chirped. Vidhan also chirped in response. The cuckoo immediately joined the competition and chirped even louder. Vidhan chirped again and again to tease it and the conceited cuckoo chirped louder every time.
This chirping competition continued till the end of the forest came. Vidhan declared the cuckoo the winner on his behalf and moved on. There was a huge sugarcane field ahead, crossing which Guru Karan's Monastery started appearing.
He imagined that when he would reach the Monastery, he would find Guru Kan sitting in meditation in front of the sacrificial altar placed in the middle of the Monastery as usual.
He would touch his feet and sit in front of him. When Guru Kan would open his eyes, he would act like him and he would do this until Guru Kan would get angry, then he would listen to his stories.
Whenever asked, the Guru would avoid the question as to how he suddenly appeared in this village five years ago, but this time he would not be able to avoid it because he had promised that he would tell his story at the time of Guru-Dakshina.
He became happy after drinking the sweet nectar of imagination.
The main route to the Monastery was from the border side of the field of Sugarcane, but that route was very long, so he used to make a route through the middle of the field. Like every day, he broke a sugarcane stick so that if he encountered jackals hiding in the field, he could scare them away.
He entered the field with a sign of happiness on his face. Today he was going to the Monastery after a week. Guru Kan had said that he was having some spiritual experiences, so he wanted to stay in solitude for a few days.
I wonder why spiritual experiences start to strike in old age, Vidhan thought to himself. He was very surprised that not even a single jackal came in front of him today. After some time, when he crossed the field and saw the view of the Monastery, his surprise vanished and anger took its place.
