Chapter 1 - 1. Prison Arch. Chapter 1: Encounter.

The story began in the Middle Ages, which had both magic and human greed. He was the son of an ordinary farmer. His day started with waking up to the cocks crowing and ended with the sun setting. Throughout the day he helped his family with many chores, from milking the cows to driving to town for tools and medicine. He lived in a village near town and was 17 years old. Just a little younger than the age that all the noble young men of that kingdom were waiting for.

This sweltering summer day began normally with tending to the animals and continued on to the field where the crops were being sown for the autumn. Sa'rkont, as his name was, was on his way home from the field and on its outskirts he met Di'rtalt, a young blond-haired, blue-eyed man, a little shorter than Sarkont, who had russet hair and green eyes, unusual for a commoner, and perhaps that was why they became friends. Hugging each other, they started a conversation:

— Hello Sarkont, it's been a long time since we've seen each other.

— Hello, yes, work leaves no time for rest, but what brings you here?

— I just went for a walk, I'd be lying if I said so, you know that all the boys of our age are worried and thinking about the next month, about 21.07, the day of admission to the School of Magical Arts and Spiritual Research, among the locals - to the School of Magic, I was looking for you to ask your advice as someone close to me, how can I better prepare for admission? Even if you are a nobleman, you may not be accepted or expelled for failure, and the training consists of 6 years: the first 4 years in our city school, and the next 2 years in the higher school in the capital.

— Yes, I can see that you're quite anxious about getting in...

— Of course I am! It's important, Sarkont! It's a shame you can't get in, if they knew your current skills, they'd take you right away.

— Don't say that, and my skills are very modest, what did you want my help with?

— This air magic spell, I can't seem to get it right...

— Lifting and holding an object is levitation.

— Show me how you do it.

Dirtalt began to draw the seal of the spell in the air diligently and concentrating, and then to say the words, a little bit of wheat under his feet began to rise into the air and then fell sharply.

— See, it's not working, I've been trying for days!

— I think you're overdoing it with the air magic, try to be calmer and more relaxed, forget about enrolling for a while.

Next, the two friends practised this magic for a few hours and succeeded in the end.

— Yes, you are truly talented, Sarkont, why only you can't get into the school....

— Dirtalt, you know it's only for nobles, they won't be happy about a commoner using magic.

— But you love it!

— I don't understand, I showed you magic and you learnt it in a couple of hours, it's amazing.

— Maybe it is, but there's another problem, my parents will have a hard time feeding our whole family without me, after all my siblings are still very young.

— That's how it is, well okay, what can I do, though...(whispering)

By then the sun was already setting and it was time for the guys to head home. ' I'll walk you out,' Sarkont said. And they walked together towards the city walls.
