Chapter 1 - Velvetblade

The saddest reality of betrayal is where it comes from; it never comes from enemies but from people you love. Such profound betrayal hurts the soul, for it is the very same individuals you love and trust with your entire being who possess the power to hurt you the most. It is in the intensity of trust that the pain lies, and the strongest betrayals are the ones shrouded in the guise of love.

"Betrayal cuts deepest when it wears the mask of affection, revealing that the heart's most trusted can also be its greatest tormentors."

In a dark room, a man lay bedridden and spoke this phrase to his son, urging him to remember it as his final lesson. Just as he finished speaking, he took his last breath. As the boy left the room, he was confronted by his father's most loyal servant, Madrich. Drawing his sword, Madrich shouted for the boy to run, for the entire country was after him.

However, the boy stood firm. "The Reinfire family doesn't know how to run from ants. Instead of giving ourselves to the enemy, I will die fighting alongside my country's army." With fierce determination, he clashed swords with the charging enemy soldiers, cutting them down one after another. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain as Madrich stabbed him in the back. Despite the blood pouring from his wound, he fought on, wielding another sword with both hands.

As enemy soldiers continued to advance, he was ruthlessly slain by his father's loyal vassal. His lifeless body lay on the ground like a doll torn apart by a playful dog. This horrifying scene unfolded before his wife, who was too shocked to utter a sound as she watched her husband be slain.
