Chapter 1 - chapter 1 : is he really saying the truth

Sharanya's fingers trembled as she flipped through the wedding album in front of her.

The woman in the pictures had her face, her eyes, her smile—but she had no memory of ever wearing that white gown or standing next to the dangerously handsome man beside her.

Her husband.

"Do you remember anything now?" His voice was cold, yet beneath the ice, there was something else—pain, maybe?

Sharanya looked up at the man sitting across from her. Naksh Malhotra. Billionaire CEO. One of the most powerful men in the country.

And, apparently, her husband.

"I…" She hesitated, her mind blank. "I don't remember you. I don't remember this marriage."

Naksh's sharp jaw clenched, his dark eyes scanning her face, searching for something—a lie, an act, a betrayal.

"How convenient," he muttered, leaning back against the leather chair. "You remember everything else—your name, where you live, your basic habits. But your husband? Your marriage?" His gaze turned ice-cold. "All gone."

Sharanya flinched at the bitterness in his tone.

"I was in an accident," she whispered. "I lost my memory… I don't know why, but I feel like—like something is missing."

Naksh let out a humorless laugh. "Something is missing? Sharanya, you vanished from my life two years ago. No calls, no notes—nothing. And now you expect me to believe you just lost your memory?"

Sharanya's stomach twisted. Two years?

She had no idea where she had been for two whole years.

"I'm telling the truth," she said softly.

Naksh didn't reply for a long moment. Then, he stood up, adjusting his suit. "Fine. Then let's put your words to the test."

Sharanya looked up at him, confused. "What do you mean?"

He leaned down, his face inches from hers, his scent wrapping around her like a storm waiting to consume her.

"If you really lost your memory, let's make a deal." His voice was dangerously smooth. "You will stay with me for one month. As my wife."

Her eyes widened. "What?"

"You said you don't remember our marriage," he said. "Then let me remind you."

Sharanya's heart pounded. Was this a test? A trap? Or something worse?

Before she could protest, Naksh placed a single key on the table in front of her.

"One month, Sharanya. Either you get your memories back… or you walk away forever."

And just like that, her life was no longer hers to control.
