Chapter 4: The Mark of the Moon

The night was restless. Even after the shadowy figure disappeared, Aria and Leo remained hidden under the bed, their breaths slow and shallow. Neither spoke, afraid the whispering voice might return.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Aria crawled out first, helping Leo up. The air in the room was cold, unnaturally so. She rubbed her arms, glancing at the window. The pale blue eyes she had seen were gone, but the feeling of being watched remained.

Leo swallowed hard. "Do you think it's… gone?"

"I don't know," Aria whispered. "But whatever it was, it knew me. It called me **'child of the moon'.'"

Leo frowned. "That means something, doesn't it?"

Aria bit her lip. "It has to. But I don't know what."

She moved to the window, pressing her palm against the glass. The village of Eldoria looked the same as always—quiet, peaceful, untouched by whatever darkness had visited her. But deep inside, she knew that things had already changed.

A sudden burning sensation shot through her hand.

She gasped, jerking it away from the window. Her palm glowed faintly, a silvery symbol appearing on her skin.

Leo's eyes widened. "Aria… your hand."

She turned it over, staring at the mark that had just appeared. It was shaped like a crescent moon, shimmering under the dim candlelight.

"I've seen this before," she murmured.

Leo blinked. "Where?"

She hesitated, then whispered, "In the old temple ruins. On the walls."

Leo's face paled. "The temple of the Moon Goddess?"

Aria nodded. That temple had been abandoned for decades—no one dared go near it. The elders warned of spirits, curses, and things better left forgotten.

But now, she had no choice.

If she wanted answers, she had to go there.

Tomorrow.
