Chapter 1: The End of an Obsession

Pain. Cold. Silence.

Evelyn Ravenshire lay on the marble floor of the Sterling Enterprises Annual Gala, her vision blurring as whispers filled the air. The grand event hall, once filled with music and the clinking of champagne glasses, now stood in eerie stillness.

A crowd had formed around her, but all she could see was him—Adrian Sterling.

The man she had spent years chasing.

He stood over her, his silver-gray eyes locked onto hers with nothing but disgust.

"You brought this on yourself," he said coldly.

A weak, bitter smile formed on Evelyn's lips.

Yes. She had.

She had tried everything to make him love her. Manipulation. Lies. Even ruining Serena Vale, the woman he cherished.

And where had it gotten her?

Her family, once one of the most powerful business empires, had crumbled. They had spent everything trying to protect her, only for Adrian to crush them under his power.

Now, as the crowd whispered about her disgrace, she realized—this was how it all ended.

She wanted to laugh. She had spent her life obsessing over a man who never wanted her, only to lose everything.

As darkness swallowed her vision, a final thought burned in her mind:

If only I could go back… I would never love you.

And then, everything went black.
