Synopsis
The apocalypse started out of nowhere, monsters erupted, and a tower appeared out of nowhere to contain all of that. People who awakened any ability were forcefully teleported into this Tower City from across the world. Some people believed it was a blessing, a gift, calling it The Tower of Salvation. However, the Rankers believed it to be absolute hell and called it The Tower of Damnation.

Chapter 1 - The Returné Player

[Scenario #069]

[Type: Compulsory]

[Status: Failed]

[Penalty: Death]

'I should've known better than to do this by myself.'

Keres looked at the sky. His body was almost a meat paste on the charred ground—well, a roasted meat paste if you'd like to be technical about it. Staying alive even after losing approximately ninety percent of fundamental organs and failing to prevent his blood vessels from exploding was a miracle on its own.

Dreaming of beating this scenario in his condition was like a blind man dreaming to reach his destination in the next city.

Thus, Keres has given up any chance of his own survival. The penalty was absolute.

Or so he thought until that moment.

[Scenario #???]

[Type: Sponsored]

[Status: Pending]

[Prize: Survival]

[Penalty: Death]

[The Sponsor is extending his hand to you. Accept this proposal in order to gain a chance to survive, reject it and succumb to the darkness of death]

'What?'

The words appeared in front of Keres' blurred vision, yet they were clear enough to the point of shocking the young man.

A scenario without a code was never seen, but what made Keres think that the haze of death was wrapping around him in the form of visual hallucination was the type of this said scenario and the vague content.

Sponsored Scenarios were the rarest to be seen, and only people who accepted a contract with one of the Sponsors from the Celestial beings would get it.

'I didn't sign a contract with any of them…'

Despite his confusion, those words remained clear.

One corner of Keres' lips twitched upward, he thought about it for a second before rolling his eyes.

'Why should I bother so much? The worst would be death, and I'm already heading toward it.'

Having nothing to lose, Keres lifted his finger.

[Accept]

[Reject]

With a faint tap on the air, Keres clicked .

After that everything went dark.

Keres didn't open his eyes for what seemed to be an eternity afterward, however, when he got enough strength to do so, the young man found himself standing in an entirely different place.

"Holy fu-"

[Ranker Keres had accepted the Sponsored Scenario]

[Ranker Keres received the title ]

[The is pleased with your decision, an addition reward was granted]

[The item was granted]

Keres looked around, his eyes darting back and forth between the room he was in—especially the pictures on the cupboards—and outside the window.

The words of the Tower System echoed in his head and yet, his eyes didn't register it. Keres' main focus headed toward the calendar which was pinned on the wall.

"The first of May, year 2025…"

His lips quivered as the words left them and soon enough, he barked a laugh and collapsed to his knees.

"This doesn't make sense, this shit is absolutely insane, what do you mean it's 2025?"

Keres laughed and laughed until tears gathered at the corner of his eyes.

"This was four years ago.. Four damn years ago…"

[The is extending his sponsorship once more. The moment you accept, the would guard you]

With full disregard to Keres' state, the system spoke once more, informing Keres about the latest update of his situation.

Keres, the weakling D-Ranker who had been good for nothing for six years since he was forcefully teleported to this Tower City, was offered a sponsorship for the first time ever.

Not only did this Sponsor save him, he also sent him to the past and offered him a lifeline.

[Accept the sponsorship of the ]

[Reject the sponsorship of the ]

As much as Keres was in disbelief, he had no intention of kicking away this chance that he got. His hand swiftly slammed the floating option.

Naturally, he accepted it. And the response of the was amazing to say the least.

[The is pleased with your decision]

[The is offering you a gift as his Player]

[The item had been added to your inventory]

"Ha, so generous, aren't you?" Keres scoffed while supporting himself on one arm and pulling himself to sit on the sofa.

Once he did so, Keres' fingers hovered in the air, tapping the half-transparent windows and opening his inventory.

As he was doing that, he spared a look outside his window where he could find the tower standing tall.

As imposing and as suffocating as ever, there stood the Tower of Damnation in all its repulsive glory.

'Everything is the same, yet different.'

Taking a deep breath, Keres moved his gaze back to his inventory—only to realize it was empty, save for the two items he had received from the .

'Fortunately, there was nothing important in my inventory that I could lose. Actually, there's nothing more important than my life so losing everything was worth it.'

Keres summoned the item

It was a simple ring with a colorful diamond with seven colors spinning inside it.

"Item activation."

Paaat.

With a bright glow of light, the diamond projected a half-transparent sphere with multiple orbs inside it of different colors.

Before Keres could start asking for anything from the system, the Tower System provided a brief instruction on how to use the ring.

[Misdelight Ring]

[A ring that could be used as some sort of lottery, with multiple penalties and prizes inside of it]

[To activate this ring, the user must be a Player or a Ranker, each of them is given a certain amount of trials per day. In order to initiate the lottery, the user must say the words ]

"Ha. Sounds too good, I should try and see what I win."

Keres looked at the words which appeared under the sphere of the ring—

[Trials per day: 20]

—which appeared to be a lot, but Keres needed to use the ring to know better.

"Misdelight Spin."

[Please confirm how many trials you would like to use. For first timer, we recommend using all what you have in order to win a special prize]

Sound shady and scammy? Keres agreed, but most of the deals related to sponsored items sounded like that. Of course, they all were proven to be legitimate.

Thus, Keres followed the suggestion.

"All in."

'Wow that feels like I'm gambling on poker—'

Before Keres' thought ended, the orbs inside the sphere rolled around and slammed into each other until one of them rushed outside the sphere and directly above him.

BAAM.

The crimson orb exploded atop of his head and a young girl dressed in loose fur clothes pinned him to the floor.

"Hello, Master! Nice to meet you!"

"What on earth—"

Keres was dumbfounded.
