Chapter 1 - At least the food is Edible

Crane has been on a journey—a journey to find a hobby. He's played video games, built Legos, and consumed all sorts of media, but the only hobby that ever stuck was…

Horror.

It influenced his life choices; he started working for Spirit Halloween, making costumes and animatronics for them. He liked his job. His parents, on the other hand, wanted him to be a chemist or a therapist like them. He tried that, but he didn't like it.

Life was going well for Crane. His grandmother had recently died, so he was on his way home to celebrate

Until he saw a crow standing menacingly in front of him. Crane took a step back in fear—he had never had a good relationship with crows. They were one of the two animals he feared: crows and bats. They always attacked him. Instantly, he booked it and ran the other way.

"Oh shit, a crow! Not today… I thought today was finally going to be a good day! Why now?!"

Crane ran down the sidewalk, pushing people away from him, not caring how old or young they were. He heard it "CAW! CAW! CAW!

Crane looked up and saw at least 50 crows on the streetlamps and flying in the sky. The crows flew toward him and started attacking him. Crane tried to defend himself by covering his head, but he was overwhelmed by the crows. He started running, disoriented by the crows all around his head. He ran into the street and managed to grab one crow that was biting his left eye. As he yanked the crow away, his eyeball popped out of its socket.

He heard a SCREEEECH, and the crows flew away. The last thing he saw was a truck.

Darkness. Fear. Silence.

That was all he felt until he saw a bright light.

Crane awoke, gasping for air and panting as he moved his red hand over his face. Wait… red?

Wait, huh? He looked down and noticed that not only was he red, but his body was also small, covered in dirt, and smelled like shit.

He looked around and realized he was in a rundown alleyway.

His heart started pounding as he lifted himself up from the ground. He glanced at the industrial alleyway and kept walking toward the loud noises of people. As he walked, he noticed something dragging behind him, slowing him down. He looked back and saw a red tail, its sharp, barbed tip slithering across the ground like a snake.

Crane tried to control it.

Why won't it budge? I barely made it twitch. Crane just picked up his tail with his hands and tucked it into his pants. Now it looks like I'm packing, but at least I can walk.

Crane walked out of the alley and saw tall industrial buildings with pipes and steam coming out of them. Still confused, he looked around and saw a blue fish-man? making food.

"Huh, I remember that guy. What was his name again? Eh it Doesn't matter."

Crane paused.

He recognized this place.

Even though he liked horror, he still watched other stuff, like Arcane. He particularly liked the emotions and fear the characters went through throughout the show, but that didn't mean he wanted to go through that.

I thought this green, smog-filled city was the UK. Turns out I'm in fucking Zuan.

He had reincarnated into Zuan.

His eyes gained some color, knowing it was Zuan, not the UK.

"At least the food looks edible here."
