...
Seconds later, the man's jaw dropped and his breathing became erratic as he stared, eyes wide, at Aiden, who had just risen from the couch to shove his hands into the pockets of his black pants.
He felt the dragonfly push his body back, grabbing him roughly by the collar. He screamed angrily as he brought his face closer to the other's, who showed no reaction at all.
"What did you do to my wife, you bastard? I swear, if you dare to touch a hair of her, believe me, you will have a hard time with me!"
"You should be threatening Eric, not me. He's the one who kidnapped your wife to mess with your head."
"What?" He unconsciously loosened his grip and stared blankly around the room.
"If you help me, we can get rid of Eric and get your wife back. Then I'll catch the kidnapper, or you can get your own revenge."
Aiden gave a little smile as he waited for the other to react, but he was taken aback when the dragonfly swooped down and squeezed his neck so hard that he couldn't breathe. He let out a gasp as he heard the Dragonfly's angry words.
"What makes me trust you, what makes me believe you, what proves to me that you had nothing to do with this?"
Aiden grabbed his wrist, trying hard to get his fingers off his neck, and yelled. "If you don't believe me, I'll help you get your wife back, and if you find out I'm deceiving you, I'll gladly give myself up for you to kill me!"
The staring match was only for a few seconds before the dragonfly removed his hands from Aiden's neck, which was red from the pressure, and addressed his servants in a really angry voice.
"Even if he's hiding under the ground, find him and bring him to me! If you don't bring my wife back to me, I'll cut off all your heads, you useless idiots! Move!"
Then he pointed at Aiden and said, "Put him in any room in the palace and keep him under guard so he can't get away."
"Why are you doing this? Shouldn't I be accompanying you?" Aiden shouted angrily as he struggled against the burly man who grabbed him by the arms to drag him out.
"Did you really think I'd trust a cop?" Said the dragonfly before walking away with a smirk on his face.
...
"Why are you ignoring my questions, you stupid servant? Don't you know who the dragonfly's wife is? What do you have to gain from kidnapping me? You want money? You want jewelry? You want women?"
"Shut your mouth and damn it, you're giving me a migraine!" The man with the hazel hair snarled impatiently at the woman who kept kicking the driver's seat with her foot from behind so hysterically that Taylor's body shook with every kick he received.
Her heart skipped a beat when she heard his loud voice, which made her cover her face with her shaking hands and start crying. This made Taylor curse his bad luck and sigh heavily as he rested his head on the back of the seat. "Please don't cry."
He grumbled, a tearful expression on his face as he continued in a low, anxious voice, staring at the screen of his phone, which he held close to his face, waiting for a signal from his friend.
"Where the hell are you, Aiden? I'm starting to get worried, and that stupid plan of yours is really getting on my nerves!"
"I won't stop until you tell me what you want from me, you shameless, evil servant! Not only will you pay for my kidnapping, but you'll also pay for my phone that you threw out the window with all my memories on it, you stupid piece of shit! "
He bit his lip angrily, then turned to her and said calmly, trying to stay composed. "First, I'm not a servant, and second, I'm not going to hurt you, so don't worry, I'll free you as soon as the plan works."
The woman quickly stopped crying and looked at the young man with a strange expression that made him frown doubtfully.
"What's wrong? I told you I'd take you back, so don't worry."
She narrowed her eyes and said in a darkly dramatic tone, "I just want to know how you did it. I mean, how did you break into the palace to get me without making anyone doubt you?"
He was silent for a while, pursing his lips, then smiled slightly and answered. "It's called being an idiot."
...
Flashback;
"I've got a plan." Aiden said before wetting his dry lips, and he swallowed nervously, knowing that what he was about to do was extremely dangerous and reckless.
Taylor didn't realize what he was doing until he was dragged towards the gate by his legs. He stared at the palace entrance, cursing his luck every two seconds and cursing himself for agreeing to this crazy idea, especially how Aiden had been able to convince him.
He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out how to get into the palace without arousing suspicion. He slid his eyes around the corners to find the camera mounted in the corner of the wall next to the gate.
He stared at it, thinking, then stepped closer and stood on his toes, making his face more visible to the guard in the surveillance room. The guard arched his eyebrows as he stared at Taylor from behind the screen. Taylor started making stupid grimaces.
"What is this fool doing, making fun of me?" The guard slammed the table with his hand in anger and stood up from his chair, rushing to the exit door. He made the door open so abruptly that it made Taylor flinch and stop making that stupid expression. He smiled nervously before slowly raising his eyes to the guard's face, terrified because of their height difference.
"I didn't know the gatekeeper was taller than the gate itself."
Taylor could only feel the man's angry breath hitting his wheat skin, and his eyes widened as he stared in panic at the fist the man had formed with his huge hand to aim directly at his face. Luckily, he was able to dodge it at the last moment, and the punch became airborne.
He ran without thinking to climb a tree, quickly found a tall branch, and clung to it with both arms and legs, wrapped tightly around it because he was afraid of falling. At the time, he was just thinking about how his life was in danger and that he had to find a way to save himself from the situation he'd put himself in.
"You're messing with me, kid? Don't even think about going down because you're going to die."
He gave a sly smile that made Taylor close his eyes and whisper in a panicked voice. "Oh my god, his voice is so creepy and disgusting."
The guard narrowed his eyes and smiled sideways when he heard the branch break, which couldn't hold Taylor's weight anymore. He let out a panicked scream as the branch split in half, and he fell straight on the guard standing below, who lost his balance but not to the point of falling, because Taylor kept clinging to his body like chewing gum.
"Get off!"
He had his arms wrapped tightly around the man's neck, almost suffocating him.
The young man took advantage of the situation and pulled out Aiden's gun from the pocket of his cyan-colored pants, then used it to hit the back of the guard's head with enough force to make him fall unconscious on the side of the road. At that point, the only sound that could be heard was Taylor's groans of pain from the huge body on top of him.
"Damn, you're heavy! " The young man said in a strangled voice, trying his best to push away the mass of flesh stuck to him and succeeding after kicking it with his foot to roll the body away from him... He quickly got up from the ground to shake the dust off his black shirt, staring thoughtfully at the body on the ground.
"What am I going to do to you?"
He was silent for a few seconds, smiling slyly before turning his head in all directions to make sure he was completely alone.
But the sudden barking of the huge dog, which had stuck its face against the fence and was trying to pounce on Taylor, made his heart skip a beat, and he approached slowly, moving his arms randomly in the air and saying in a low voice, trying to stop the dog that was about to expose him if he kept barking.
"Shut up, you sweet, stupid, silly dog!"
He bit his lower lip in fear when the dog kept barking, then grabbed his shoe and slid his arm under the fence to shove the shoe into the dog's mouth, which had just stopped barking, and then began to rip it off as Taylor stared at his shoe with a frown on his face.
He went up to the guard, grabbed him by the legs, and dragged him. It wasn't easy because the guard was so heavy. He wiped the floor with the guard, then let go of his legs. After he hid in the bushes on the side of the road, he rubbed his lower back. He looked like he was in pain.
He looked at the man lying on the ground with a mean look on his face and whispered with a sideways smile. "Can I borrow your clothes, sweetheart?"
...
He was walking through the halls of the palace with his head down, avoiding eye contact with the Dragonfly's followers, who kept staring at him suspiciously because of his strange gait.
Basically, he was dragging his feet a bit because his shoes were too big for him.
Luckily for him, the clothes fit him almost perfectly.
He lifted his head to remove suspicion and unbuttoned the top buttons of his white shirt to reveal his thick collarbones before adjusting his black suit jacket, giving him an unusually elegant look. Strutting his stuff to give the illusion that he was one of them, faking a smile at everyone who passed him by.
He let out a sigh of relief and looked around the palace, searching for his target.
He stopped in the middle of a long hallway and stared at the room at the end of it, rolling his eyes as he looked at the burly guard standing by the door, keeping even flies from entering.
His legs carried him towards the guard until he was right in front of him. He licked his lower lip to prepare to speak before rubbing his nose lightly with his index finger and pointing it at the guard, who interrupted him before he could even utter a word.
"The lady doesn't want to be disturbed."
"So, she's here," he said, grinning. He realized the guard had already answered him without even asking.
He stood up straight, held his hands together behind his back, and said in a firm, confident tone. "I'm here because the boss sent me. If you don't want to face his wrath, open the door right away."
He arched his eyebrows at Taylor, who kept staring at him with a sharp stare that caused the other to quietly open the door.
...
"Please accept my apologies for the interruption, madam. However, the boss has requested your immediate presence."
The man with the hazel eyes spoke to the woman on the leather couch, one leg crossed over the other, her long white dress falling off her floor-length body.
She raised an eyebrow and exhaled deeply before placing her coffee cup on the glass table. She had been enjoying the bitterness of her coffee without sugar.
"What does he want from me? He will probably offer a diamond necklace to silence me, and I will go back to my room alone, as usual."
She crossed her arms and stared into space, not saying a word. Then Taylor spoke up after his headlamp lit up.
"That is not correct. I will be your new chauffeur. The boss has specially assigned me to drive you to a place of his choosing to meet you there."
The girl blinked a few times and looked back at the young man, who nodded softly, confirming his words, or rather, his imagination.
"Is it true what I'm thinking? Is he setting me up for a romantic dinner?" The girl asked, her voice excited and a smile almost reaching her ears, clasping her hands together in drama.
"It's a surprise. He would like you to explore the place on your own."
She quickly stood up and hurried to the dressing table after hearing his answer that confirmed her thoughts, and he laughed a little at her unexpected naivety.
End flashback;
...
He bit his lower lip to stifle a sarcastic laugh as he imagined the sight of the naked guard searching for him everywhere.
On the other hand, her mouth was open, and she couldn't believe what she had just heard from the guy she kept calling stupid. She corrected herself and added, looking at him doubtfully in the car's front-view mirror, "Are you a spy, a cop, a federal agent, or a gang member?"
"Neither."
She stretched her lower lip, shrugged her shoulders, bit into a big biscuit, and sipped the juice from a straw, enjoying the food Taylor had specially bought for her to fill her empty stomach.
"At least take a look at my useless bodyguard. He might have suffocated in the trunk."
She frowned when he ignored her and crossed his arms, staring silently at the trees through the windshield. Then he smiled faintly as she crossed her arms and said angrily.
"Or do you only know how to use a gun to knock people out and disarm them like you did with those two guys?"
She swallowed, nervous, as she stared in horror at the gun he took out of his black jacket pocket and pointed at her. "Maybe I should use it for something else. If you don't shut up, what do you think?" he said.
"No, please! Okay, I'll stop talking!"
She nodded her head a few times, and he lowered his gun to put it back in its place. Then, the silence fell again.
"You look pretty comfortable for a kidnapped person." The young man spoke up to break the silence and then rested his head on the back of the seat.
"Because I felt that you couldn't belong in this filthy environment. And I bet you that my husband will take me back into his arms before sundown tonight and then kill you, tear you apart, throw your limbs to stray dogs, and then..."
"Okay, I get it. Shut up." He cut her off, staring with a frown at her face in the rearview mirror.
After a few minutes of silence, he finally spoke in a calm tone, answering the question she had been asking all day.
"I'll tell you why I kidnapped you."
The girl stopped biting her nails, nervous, waiting for him to speak.
"You've heard of Eric Turner, right? Your husband works with people like him."
She let out a quiet sigh and turned her head to the window next to her. Gazing longingly through the glass at the lined trees and thick grass, she said, "Yeah, I know him. That bastard."
She gritted her teeth and clutched her dress, as if she was remembering painful memories that weren't supposed to ruin her already crummy day.
Taylor raised his eyebrows at her silence and turned around to check on her, noticing her tears running down her cheeks.
"Are you okay?"
The girl just ignored his question and finally said something that made Taylor's blood freeze in his veins and his tongue unable to speak. All his shocked mind could comprehend was that Celine was in danger, or rather, it might be too late to save her.
"That bastard's into kidnapping and trafficking girls to make money, and each girl becomes a slave to her master for life."
