### Chapter 3: The Golden Sphere
The crimson sun sank further into the horizon, casting long shadows that seemed to creep toward Kael with every step he took. The grass whispered faintly underfoot, each blade swaying as though alive. Vrix darted ahead, his glittering body catching the fading light. Kael's nerves were frayed—every rustle of grass, every distant howl felt like a predator stalking him through this strange, alien landscape.
"So," Kael began, trying to keep his voice steady, "this Golden Sphere... what exactly is it?"
"A relic," Vrix replied without slowing down, his eight legs scuttling across the terrain effortlessly. "A very *important* relic tied to the Threads of this realm. The System has locked it away, of course, because nothing valuable comes easy. But if we're lucky—or foolish—it might just let you claim it."
Kael scowled. "And what happens if it doesn't?"
Vrix let out a chittering laugh. "You don't want to know."
Comforting, Kael thought grimly. He tightened his grip on the codex, its glow faint yet persistent. His mind raced with questions—about the Infinite Web, about the System, and most of all, about what the Threads had in store for him. But for now, all he could do was follow the spider and hope for answers.
The terrain began to change as they pressed onward. The endless grassland gave way to jagged outcroppings of black stone, their surfaces slick and glistening as though perpetually wet. Strange, luminescent plants clung to the rocks, casting a pale blue glow that illuminated the path ahead. The air grew cooler, and Kael felt a shiver run down his spine.
"We're close," Vrix said, his tone uncharacteristically serious. "Stay sharp, kid. This is where things get... complicated."
Kael opened his mouth to ask what he meant, but the words caught in his throat as the landscape shifted before his eyes. The jagged stones receded, giving way to a massive clearing dominated by a colossal golden sphere suspended in midair. The sphere pulsed with an otherworldly light, its surface etched with the same intricate symbols as the codex. Threads of glowing energy extended outward from the sphere, connecting to the surrounding rocks like a vast, cosmic web.
Kael felt his breath catch. The sheer power radiating from the sphere was overwhelming, pressing down on him like an invisible weight. It was beautiful and terrifying all at once.

[ **INITIATING TRIAL…** ]
"Trial?" Kael repeated aloud, panic creeping into his voice. "What trial?"
Before Vrix could respond, the ground beneath Kael's feet trembled violently. The glowing threads connecting to the sphere began to vibrate, emitting a high-pitched hum that made Kael's teeth ache. The air crackled with energy, and a new screen appeared before him.

[ **REWARD: THREAD-WEAVING CLASS ACTIVATED** ]
"Guardian?" Kael's voice rose an octave. "What guardian?"
As if in answer, the golden sphere flared brightly, and the air around it shimmered. From the light emerged a massive, hulking figure—an amalgamation of stone, metal, and glowing threads. Its eyes burned with an intense blue fire, and its fists were the size of boulders. The ground shook as it took a step forward, its gaze locking onto Kael.
"Ah," Vrix said, scuttling back a few paces. "There's your guardian. Good luck, kid."
Kael stared at the monstrous figure, his heart hammering in his chest. "You're joking, right? How am I supposed to fight *that*?"
The System's voice echoed in his mind, calm and unyielding. "The Threads respond to your will, Kael Draven. Trust in the Web, and it will guide you."
Kael clenched his fists, a mix of fear and determination surging through him. The guardian let out a thunderous roar, its glowing threads vibrating with deadly energy. There was no time to think, no time to second-guess. If he wanted to survive, he had to act.
Raising the codex, Kael focused on the glowing threads that stretched between him and the guardian. They pulsed faintly, as though waiting for his command. Gritting his teeth, he extended a hand and reached for the nearest thread.
The moment his fingers touched it, a surge of power shot through him, searing and exhilarating all at once. The world around him seemed to slow, the threads glowing brighter as they responded to his touch. The guardian hesitated, its movements sluggish and disoriented.
Kael's mind raced. He didn't know what he was doing, but the System's words echoed in his ears. *Trust the Web.* Taking a deep breath, he pulled on the thread with all his might.
The guardian roared again, but this time it staggered, its glowing eyes flickering. Kael could feel the connection between them, the energy flowing through the threads like a lifeline. He didn't understand it fully, but he didn't need to—not yet. All he needed to do was survive.
With a determined shout, Kael pulled harder, weaving the threads together in his mind. The guardian's movements grew weaker, its form flickering as though it were coming undone. Finally, with one last desperate pull, Kael severed the thread connecting him to the guardian.
The massive figure let out a final, guttural roar before collapsing into a heap of glowing shards. The ground stilled, the air fell silent, and the golden sphere pulsed softly once more.
[ **TRIAL COMPLETE** ]
[ **THREAD-WEAVING CLASS UNLOCKED: INITIATE WEAVER** ]
Kael fell to his knees, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. The codex glowed faintly in his hands, its symbols shifting to display new information. Vrix approached cautiously, his many eyes glinting with what almost seemed like approval.
"Not bad," the spider said, his tone grudgingly impressed. "For a rookie, anyway."
Kael let out a breathless laugh, the adrenaline still coursing through him. "What happens now?"
Vrix tilted his head. "Now? Now the real weaving begins."
