Chapter 1 - The griping secret.

Ivy's pov,

The morning sun pricked through the window, mirroring into my lock up eyelids, awakening me with an obnoxious throbbing in my muscle.

A little yawn crept onto my lips as I stretched my body, hitting the figure beside me.

"Oh!" I gripped for my carelessness. Actually, It was due to my tiredness.

"You wake up?" the figure asked without a movement.

Absolutely, he couldn't move, not even an inch. He was Dexter, my disabled husband.

"Yeah. Ready to work," I mumbled, shaking off my muscle, then passed him a little wink.

Despite my tiring state, my body rose from the bed.

I gulped with a shock grin, catching the time. "Oh! Late for work!" I mumbled.

And that sounds more pressing trouble from my egotistical boss again.

However, I blushed and blushed him up, bath and bath him too, cleaned myself and cleaned him up with a warm deep towel and dressed and dressed him up too.

Everything to do, I could do his too, even cooking and feeding him. It was my regular routine and I couldn't get tired of him or my duty as a wife.

Minutes later, I was on my way to work with a tiring smile. I would return at noon to repeat the same routine and it was always five times routine things daily.

I was in the taxi when my phone rang. It was Kim, my best friend at work.

"Ivy, come, I need you!" Kim's voice rang desperately.

My face flinched with a confusing grin. "Kim," I called, but her phone went off unexpectedly.

What happened? I wished to ask.

My thoughts corkscrewed into a hectic muddle. It was unlike Kim to be so desperate. Something might have happened which made her seek my help.

"Can you increase the speed," I murmured to the cab man.

"I can't. It is against the law," the cab man defended himself.

I kept my calm. My calmness seemed to hurt me more. Kim was my friend and she meant so much to me.

I couldn't sit still, inaudibly words kept slipping out of my lips.

Finally, the car screeching stopped in front of the bar where I worked and I couldn't linger, hurrying out of the car without a second thought to pay the cab man.

"Miss…" he called, but I ignored him, pushing the glass door of the bar open.

The spring Fridays were always full of activities and the bar wasn't excerpted.

I scrambled through the full bar avoiding the daring glare of my boss who would be at the bar, supervising business. Luckily for me, there was no encounter with him.

I sneaked into the kitchen where I and Kim always made all the meals and I met her groaning on the floor.

She was covered in flour as if scale full baking flour was sparkled over her, tears streaming out of her eyes.

"Kim!" I called, reaching for her.

"Ivy, I twisted my ankle. It hurts." She lamented, her sob gave way into a sneeze.

I cowered over her and examined her ankle. Her ankle seemed to be in bad shape. "Why can't you call the rest to take you to the hospital?" I asked, confused, wondering why none of the workers had found her.

"The boss will be annoyed if he sees me like this. And also I don't want him to know you are yet to arrive. I was trying to cover you up, meeting up various orders for both you and I and then I twisted my ankle shuttling from the two duties," she wailed.

"I am sorry. It was my fault. Huh, I woke up late." I sighed disappointed with myself. "Well, I will get you to the hospital. Just give me a few minutes to talk to the boss," I said and left her.

Some minutes later, I sat on the hospital patient seat lost in thought. I knew Kim's hospital bill would cost a lot and none of us would afford it with either our salaries or savings.

Should I return to the past or get a loan from our boss?

Besides, I had a disabled husband who needed more money too.

My phone rang and when I checked the caller, it was Ben, another friend and colleague.

"Hi, Ben…"

"Hi, Ivy. I heard what happened to Kim. How is she now?" Ben asked, his voice was calm and concerned.

I stood up from where I sat, trying to avoid eavesdroppers and walked out of the hospital to talk with him.

"Dunno yet. She is being attended to,"

"Will be there soon," he said and I frowned, confused.

"And your boss will let you go?" That was quite impossible. Having three staff out of work on a spring Friday could cause Mr. Kinsley a heart attack.

He could never accept his staff being absent from work. We had a little fight before I stubbornly left with Kim and I knew already I could be sacked. But, I wouldn't allow Kim to face a similar fate as mine. I could do everything to fix her back to her work.

"I quit. Got another better offer," He divulged.

"Really? Sounds impressive."

"Yeah., with one Werewolf pack. Salary triple. Sorry, I will be leaving in two days time,"

"That sounds like your dream coming through," I said smiling.

"Yeah. Happy birthday, Ivy,"

Was today my day? I couldn't even recall my day. Huh!

"Woah! Thank you,"

"We sent you a birthday cake and other gifts, delivered to your place. I am on the way to the hospital. Will meet you there." he said and hung up.

A smile crept on my face, smiling to myself. It would be the first day I had my birthday out of the pack and getting a cake from my colleagues left a smile on my face.

Walking back to the reception, I couldn't stop feeling happy.

Today would make a difference. I could set up candles and celebrate it, sharing everything with Dexter, both the cake and memory of my lifetime.

It was actually my first birthday with him. We got married eight months ago and he was my world, my mate and my cherished.

I was about to step into the reception when out of the blue, a wild familiar scent permeated into my nostrils.

Dexter! That was him smelling like bacon and strawberry, a smell only I could identify as long as I was his mate.

Unforgettable, I knew I left him behind in the cabin locked up in his disabled state.

'How did his scent get here?' I grumbled within me.

My eyes surveyed as I stepped into the reception and I saw him.

What! My brows almost dissolved on the scene before me.

He was with a pregnant woman, sitting at the exact spot I sat before I went to pick Ben's call, his side turned to me.

Shock engraved me and a goosebump rubbed over me.

He wasn't like my disabled husband who couldn't stand, nor sit neither walk, he was a completely healthy man, sitting and had his arm tightly around the woman's huge waist as if she could slip out of his grip.

Oh! He wasn't also clothed as an omega I knew him to be. He was clad in an expensive blue suit with his features exuded as a complete Alpha!

His hair was blushed backward and retained the shiny texture more than I always applied on it.

I couldn't believe this. I couldn't believe it was him. My doubt flickered against my chest.

It wasn't him or had I fallen into delusion? My omega husband couldn't possibly be a completely changed man in a twinkle of an hour.

I had heard a lot of crone human beings, was he one of them? Or was it some science reaction twist about two people looking for identity?

I quite believe the latter. He couldn't be my Dexter and that couldn't stop me from delving to find out who he was and make a joke out of it with Dexter about him being a twin.

My curiosity made me eavesdrop on them. Fortunately, they sat just some stone throw and I could hear them quite well.

The pregnant lady clung into the guy's body like snow, sending some strayed feeling into my vein.

His possession kept marveling me. How I wished my Dexter could just move and stand up one day and hold me like that. I knew it was a dream out of nowhere.

With their closeness, it was obvious they were in a relationship.

"Dexter, how many nights will I wake and won't find you beside me? Isn't it time for you to get this over … you should return to the pack?" the pregnant lady groaned, sulking, resting her head against the man's chest.

What?! His name was also Dexter!?

My body tensed, froze. The revelation of his name gripped my heart and made me speechless.

The man was my husband, my mate and my Dexter!...
