Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Fragments of a forgotten flame

It began with a kiss—a fleeting moment under a silvered sky that promised both a beautiful end and a haunting new beginning."

"I never believed in déjà vu—until the day I first saw him. Wandering the campus corridors under a sky that seemed to hold secrets of its own, I felt a magnetic pull, as if unseen forces were stitching fragments of another life into my heart. There was something familiar in the way he looked at the world, a depth of memory I couldn't grasp, yet it stirred echoes I didn't know I possessed. I couldn't explain why every stolen glance and lingering smile ignited a resonance deep within me, as though our souls were once intertwined in a past I had forgotten. In that moment, amid the hum of everyday campus life, I sensed that our meeting was no random chance and I couldn't understand why"...And I just stood there looking at him confused, until my bestfriend Lexi came behind me startling me back to reality." I can see that someone finally caught your eye," She said giving me a smile full of mischief. "Of course not,"I replied my cheeks betraying me with a faint blush..."lieees....just admit that the guy caught your eye,let me start saving up for your wedding then," she teased. I knew Lexi wouldn't let this moment slide and would use this against me for the rest of the week and in order to get her off my back I suggested that we should rush to class as we were getting late still wondering why I couldn't dismiss the magnetic pull I felt towards that guy...or maybe it was just because he was cute I told myself. There was just something inexplicable about his eyes. They were the most arresting feature, deep and reddish like the shards of twilight fire. They glimmered with an almost hypnotic allure and burned with this mysterious glow. Anyways what was I thinking. With exams around the corner I couldn't afford to get distracted by a guy out of everything in the world that could distract me. Luckily we managed to arrive just in time for the Trigonometry class with the fact that Lexi insisted on getting our daily morning iced coffee before going to class.

After the guy left my mind, I forced myself to focus on the professors words on "Angles of infinity " as he scribbled some equations on the board but my eyes kept drifting to the window hoping to get a glimpse of the uncanny, deep reddish eyes. Anyways the class was soon over and the lecturer hall empties into a golden afternoon glow. I gather my scattered notes and head outside with Lexi for a little downtown at our favourite spot in campus.

As we strolled along the familiar pathways, a sensation that I had felt since childhood, crept over me. The feeling that someone or something was watching over me and odd almost electric-sensation crawling all over me. And it wasn't just a feeling , it was as if every inch of my skin whispered secrets, a quiet awareness that something unseen was peering into the depths of my thoughts. I paused my heart skipping as the feeling intensified for a moment And when I turned to look...there—a jagged, shifting silhouette darted along the edge of the cobblestones, sending a spike of terror through me. My breath hitched, and for a moment, I convinced myself that something sinister was stalking us. Before I could fully register the fear, Lexi's voice cut through the tension.

"Are you okay?" she asked, eyes wide with concern as she stepped closer. Almost immediately, she launched into her familiar rapid-fire monologue about her latest boy drama. "I swear, Jace did the absolute worst today—left me hanging at the coffee shop like I was nothing more than background noise! And then, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, he texted some half-assed excuse that barely even qualified as an apology. Can you believe it?" Lexi rattled on, oblivious to the residual tremor in my voice.

I blinked and finally managed a shaky laugh as the mysterious shape resolved itself in my peripheral vision—a crumpled, rustling plastic bag caught in a sudden gust of wind. The tension evaporated into a ridiculous mix of relief and amusement. My heart was still pounding from the scare, and for a moment, I wondered if my imagination was running wild again. But as Lexi continued to tell me every infuriation of her latest heartbreak, I couldn't help but smile the tension fading as amusement took it's place
