Chapter 1 - moonlit Awakening

Chapter 1: Moonlit Awakening

The full moon cast an unholy glow over the jungle, illuminating the crumbling facade of a lone restaurant, "The Midnight Kitchen", like a specter's lantern. Vines and creepers snaked around the structure, as if attempting to reclaim it. The wind whispered macabre secrets through the shattered windows, its icy breath stirring the dust and debris within. Amidst this desolate landscape, Asher Reed lay unconscious, his raven-black hair tangled with dirt, twigs, and the faint whisper of decay. His chest rose and fell with slow, deliberate breaths, the only sign of life in the oppressive stillness.

As the moon reached its zenith, Asher's eyes flickered open, like two dark stars emerging from the void. He blinked once, twice, his gaze drifting across the unfamiliar surroundings with an unnerving calmness. Confusion etched his pale, chiseled face, but his expression remained detached, as if observing the world through a veil of indifference.

Asher's slender fingers brushed against the dirt as he sat up, his movements economical and precise, like a predator unfolding from a crouch. His eyes, an unsettling shade of green, scanned the area with an unblinking intensity, taking in the restaurant's decrepit sign, creaking in the wind, and the jungle's oppressive, emerald-green darkness. His gaze lingered on each detail, as if committing them to memory with an unnerving thoroughness.

A faint frown creased his forehead as he tried to recall his identity, his past, and the events leading up to this moment. His memories seemed shrouded in a thick, impenetrable fog, refusing to yield to his probing. Asher's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in a subtle display of frustration, yet his overall demeanor remained tranquil, like the stillness at the eye of a malevolent storm.

With a quiet deliberation, Asher rose to his feet, brushing off the dirt and debris from his black, tattered clothes. He stood tall, his eyes fixed on the restaurant's entrance, as if drawn to it by an unseen, malignant force. The wind stirred, carrying the whispers of the past, and Asher's gaze seemed to bore into the heart of The Midnight Kitchen, as if searching for answers to the questions swirling in his mind like a maelstrom.

And then, without a word, Asher stepped forward, disappearing into the darkness of The Midnight Kitchen, leaving behind only the faintest whisper of his presence.
