Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Everything That’s Mine, I’ll Take It All!

[This is a cup, it is slightly damaged.]

[This is a tube of toothpaste, it has 30% left.]

[This is a mirror, it is clean.]

...

[This is a fool, his money was spent by his girlfriend, and he was killed by her. Now, he has been reborn.]

Benjamin rushed into the bathroom, his hands gripping the sink as he stared intently at his reflection in the mirror.

Everything in sight came with a prompt.

The prompt on his reflection was particularly ironic—and painfully true.

He was indeed a fool!

He had worked tirelessly to earn money, handing over his entire salary to his girlfriend, Mia.

And she had spent it all!

Every time she cried and coaxed him, he would soften and not break up with her, continuing to give her his money!

Later, when the apocalypse arrived, he had done everything to protect her, only to be pushed into a horde of zombies by her!

The feeling of betrayal, being devoured by zombies, watching death approach, the terror, despair, and agony—he would never forget it for eternity!

If someone said he wasn't a fool, he wouldn't even agree with it himself!

Fortunately, he had been reborn just before the apocalypse.

Not only did he bring back the backpack that could store infinite items, which he had awakened just before his death, but he also gained a special ability—the ability to see hidden prompts on everything and everyone.

Since he had been reborn,

he would never allow the tragedy of his past life to repeat itself!

He wouldn't die at the hands of his girlfriend, nor would he perish in the apocalypse!

He was going to live well.

There was only one month left before the apocalypse arrived.

After the apocalypse began, various disasters would occur: freezing temperatures, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, extreme weather, and the zombie crisis.

In his past life, although he died early, he had witnessed the devastation of the apocalypse.

Within just three years of the apocalypse, the population plummeted, with a mortality rate of over 95%.

Most of those who survived lived in misery, fighting tooth and nail for a bite to eat, abandoning all dignity and morality.

Time was of the essence,

he had to prepare immediately.

"Benjamin, why are you here?"

Mia had returned at some point.

She hugged him from behind like a koala.

Benjamin's body stiffened, and a surge of overwhelming anger rose in his heart.

This ungrateful wretch—he had treated her so well, yet she had plotted to take his money and his life!

However, now was not the time for reckoning!

He pretended to be calm and said, "Just looking in the mirror."

"Are you amazed by how handsome you are? Hehe." Mia playfully stuck out her tongue, only to notice that Benjamin wasn't even looking at her.

"Hey, why aren't you being affectionate with me?" Mia pouted, deliberately pressing her softness against him.

She knew her most valuable asset was her impressive figure.

Every time she went out, she turned heads.

Benjamin did turn around.

But he didn't look at her softness.

He only glanced at her once before looking away.

"Benjamin..."

"How much of my money do you still have?"

Mia had just started speaking when Benjamin interrupted her.

"Uh... a few thousand," Mia stammered, her eyes darting nervously.

"How many thousand exactly?"

Benjamin suppressed his anger and asked gently.

Mia forced a smile, "I forgot, I've saved it all."

"That's good. Give me the deposit slip, I'll go withdraw it now," Benjamin said.

"I..." Mia hesitated.

The deposit slip?

Where would she have a deposit slip?

She had already squandered all of Benjamin's money, and saying she had saved it was just an excuse.

She never expected him to press her for it!

"Go get the deposit slip. If you forgot where you put it, I'll go with you to get a replacement," Benjamin said indifferently.

Mia forced a smile, "Why are you in such a hurry? Isn't it better to keep it saved and earn interest?"

"No, the interest is just a pittance. Investing in business can earn much more," Benjamin rejected her suggestion without hesitation.

"That's true," Mia said with a strained smile.

"If it's true, then go get the money," Benjamin insisted firmly.

Mia trembled as if struck by an electric current.

She stammered, trying to change the subject, "I..."

But Benjamin cut her off.

"Are you lying to me again? Saying you've saved it, but actually spent it all?"

"Of course not, my girlfriend has only lied to me twice. How could she keep lying to me? If she kept cheating and deceiving me, wouldn't that make her a fraud, and not a girlfriend at all?"

As he spoke, Benjamin pinched Mia's cheek, but his eyes were cold.

Mia shuddered, panicking.

From Benjamin's tone, it seemed that if she didn't produce the money, he would dump her!

No matter how she tried to coax him or play the emotional card, it wouldn't work!

"Hehe, your girlfriend isn't that bad, right? I just remembered, I didn't deposit it in the bank. The money is in my card, a few thousand. Wait a moment, I'll get it for you now."

Mia forced a calm expression as she made up a flimsy excuse, then fled to the bedroom, locking the door behind her.

She let out a long breath and quickly sat on the bed to borrow money from her parents.

She had to give up a little to keep the big fish. It seemed she had to cough up some money to get through this.

Only then would Benjamin continue to hand over his salary to her.

Benjamin handed over over twenty thousand a month—she couldn't afford to lose this cash cow!

After borrowing the money, she hurried out of the bedroom.

As soon as she stepped out, she heard Benjamin's cold voice, "Where's the money?"

"Here, I have over eighty thousand. I'll transfer it to you."

Mia reluctantly transferred the money, and Benjamin accepted it instantly.

Mia had thought Benjamin would be happy after getting the money and would treat her as he had before.

But Benjamin still wore a stern expression, and even his smiles were forced, making her uneasy.

"Still too little. It seems I'll have to sell the old house quickly. Too bad it won't fetch two million. If it were to be demolished, it'd be worth at least three million."

At Benjamin's words, a glint of greed flashed in Mia's eyes.

That's right—Benjamin had an old house that was due for demolition, and the compensation would be at least three to four million.

If her family spent one or two million to buy the house, they could make a profit of over a million after the demolition!

As for where her family would get the money?

Part of it came from the 1.2 million they received from demolishing their old house,

and the other part?

Of course, it came from Benjamin, the fool!

Since Benjamin handed over his salary, she had been transferring ten thousand a month to her family!

They had been together for two or three years—that amounted to over three hundred thousand!

Her brother wasn't married yet, and the money had been saved for him, along with some savings for his wedding.

Raising one or two million would be easy.

Thinking this, she immediately clung to Benjamin's arm, cooing, "Why sell it to someone else? Why not sell it to my brother? He doesn't have a house yet."

Benjamin took in the greed in her eyes.

This gold-digging, brother-obsessed wretch!

All she cared about was money and her brother!

It was laughable how blind he had been in his past life, only realizing the truth after she had killed him.

Suppressing his rage, he pretended to be swayed by her words, smiling as he said, "Alright, since he's your brother, I'll sell it to him for 1.5 million."

"Really? Honey, you're so good to me." Mia's face lit up with joy. "I'll tell my brother right away and get this settled as soon as possible!"

Mia was overjoyed.

This fool was such a pushover!

He was selling a house that could fetch three to four million in demolition compensation for just 1.5 million—and to her brother, no less!

And he didn't even feel like he was losing out!

He even handed over his entire salary!

Such a fool was hard to come by!

After they got married, she would make sure to squeeze him dry, leaving nothing behind!

Afraid Benjamin might change his mind, Mia hurried to the balcony to call her brother, even closing the balcony door behind her.

Benjamin glanced at Mia's back, then pulled out his phone from his pocket.

As soon as he took it out, a prompt appeared on the screen.

[This is a phone, the password is 112688.]

He unlocked the phone and opened a photo.

It was a family photo of Mia.

A family of four, all together.

Each of them had hidden prompts.

The prompt on Mia's brother stood out.

[This is your girlfriend's brother, Zhou Haiyang. He will die tomorrow at 11:30 AM in a home robbery.]

Seeing this prompt, Benjamin smirked.

Mia probably had no idea her brother was about to die, did she?

He remembered in his past life, just before the apocalypse, Mia had suddenly been unable to contact her brother.

She had even reported it to the police.

But no one knew that her brother had already died.

When Mia had gone to the bedroom to gather the money earlier, he had learned about it through this family photo.

And thus, he had devised a perfect plan to swindle 1.5 million from Mia's family!

Yes.

He had no intention of selling the house to Mia's brother at a low price!

He just wanted to reclaim what was his, with interest!

Not only that, he was going to take even more from Mia's family!

He would make Mia's family bankrupt, paving the way for his preparations for the apocalypse!

All of this was the price they had to pay!

Thinking this, a cold glint flashed in Benjamin's eyes.

In his past life,

Mia had taken his money and his life.

In this life,

he would take it all back—with interest!
