Chapter 5 - The seminar

Emeka always wait in school to read and do his assignment during the closing hours. For this, he is well recognized. Emeka goes home only when the school principal is ready to go so as not to be locked in the school compound.

Emeka always work hard to become the best in his class. One of the things that inspired him to wanting to become the best was the seminar that was conducted in his school by a young instructor called Mr. Adeokin Raphael Afolabi who was invited to inspire the pupils and students to become great men and women who will do exploits in the world.

The young instructor told them a story about the Lion and the Gazelle. Every day, when the Lion wakes up, it strategizes on how to feed. It then walks to the hunting ground to look for a Gazelle which it would feed on. When the Gazelle wakes up, it also strategizes on how to feed. This then triggers it to go hunting for grass.

The Gazelle has known that the Lion would come hunting it but because it needs to feed, it would take the risk to still go hunting for grass in other to survive. If the Lion failed to strategize, definitely, it would fail to kill a Gazelle which it would then have to suffer by being hungry for the day. And if the Gazelle failed to strategize, it would get eaten by the Lion and then fail to survive.

The young instructor went ahead motivating the pupils and students to set a vision if they must become great in life.

Vision is a mission for the future. Everyone one on earth has visions but not everyone sets even a vision. When you don't set a vision, you plan not to have a better future because; vision is the strategy of a man's life. Just like the Lion and the Gazelle in the above story, you need to strategize on becoming great by setting a vision.

The young instructor started answering questions from the students and pupils immediately after ending the seminar.

Why do we need to set a vision? Adesuwa a pupil in primary 5 asked.

You need to set a vision because; it is your vision that would determine the way you want your future to be.

Do students from poor background also need to set a vision? Gabriel a student in JSS 1 asked.

Yes! My friend, students from poor background need to set a vision in other to become wealthy. The poorest man in the world is not one without money but one without a vision. If you don't want your background to put your back on the ground, you must set a vision now.

Is it too late for SS3 students to set a vision? Biola, the head boy of the school asked.

No! My friend, it is never too late to set a vision but it is right to do what is right at the right time.th young instructor answered.

Can we wait till we graduate from secondary school before setting a vision? Emeka asked

The young instructor smiled for a while and then answered; no! My boy, because procrastination is the natural assassin to opportunity. The longer you wait, the more it expires. It is only an egg that is well incubated that would bring forth birds. A Lion can feed only when it strategizes and A Gazelle can survive only when it strategizes.

The most painful thing on earth is not Death but a life that fails to fulfill its purpose and potentials. For you to fulfill your purpose or potential, you must set a vision. And please don't forget that setting a vision is setting your future. He said before leaving the podium.

The proprietor, principal, teaching staffs, non teaching staffs, students and pupils accolade him as he left the podium.

Of a truth, the seminar is indeed an inspiring one which would definitely make people great in life just as it has really inspired all pupils and students of the school to become great people in life and which also earned Emeka the Accolade as the best student of SS3.
