The strike missed—
And the cleaning lady had fully transformed into a monstrous green-furred abomination.
She let out an excited, guttural "Hoo-hoo!"—
Her dislodged eyeballs twitched in their dangling sockets, their pupils locking onto Mu Chenyi and Wang Zichen, who were scrambling away on all fours.
The two barely managed to roll a short distance, temporarily escaping the creature's grasp.
"Hoo-hoo! Three sheep! Three little sheep…!"
The green-furred monster drooled vile, slimy saliva from its slackened jaw.
Its shoulders rose and fell unevenly as it staggered forward, slowly closing the distance between itself and the two men.
The air went deathly still—
A chilling, suffocating tension spread through the grand hall.
"You motherf—!!"
Wang Zichen, still reeling from the shock, turned scarlet with rage—
"You dare ambush me, you bastard?! I'll fucking kill you!"
In one swift motion, he ripped a pistol from his waistband—
Aimed it straight at the monster's head!
"DON'T SHOOT!"
Mu Chenyi, still slumped on the floor, was gritting his teeth to endure the searing pain on his back.
The moment he saw Wang Zichen pull out a gun, he shouted with all his might—
"DON'T SHOOT! YOU'LL ATTRACT EVERY MONSTER AROUND US!"
His warning cut through Wang Zichen's battle frenzy like a blade.
A flicker of rationality returned to Wang Zichen's face.
Click!
He shoved the pistol back into his waistband, but his gaze remained locked onto the approaching abomination.
Under the bright chandelier lights, the creature's nightmarish form was laid bare before them.
The cleaning lady's uniform was still clinging to its massive frame, though most of it had been shredded apart by its grotesquely bulging muscles.
Fragments of torn fabric dangled from its torso.
The only trace of humanity left was the patchy, withering strands of yellow hair atop its head.
Apart from that—
It no longer resembled a human in any way.
Step by step—
It lurched forward.
Its eyeballs, still dangling from their sockets, quivered with excitement!
Mu Chenyi's heart pounded violently against his ribcage—
As if trying to burst out of his throat!
He forced himself to remain calm.
His eyes darted around the room, desperately searching for a way to break free from this desperate situation.
The strength of this monster—
He had already witnessed it firsthand in his three Death Visions.
This thing was utterly beyond human ability to defeat!
The cooldown for Death's Eye was still over twenty minutes away—
There wasn't enough time!
Was the death scene he saw in his visions about to play out before his eyes?!
"THERE— IN THAT ROOM— COLD WEAPONS!"
At the critical moment, Wang Zichen shouted at Chen Wan'er, who was paralyzed with fear.
He pointed toward an inner room—
At the same time, he grabbed an expensive porcelain vase from a nearby table—
And hurled it with all his might at the monster!
CRASH!
Chen Wan'er snapped out of her daze and dashed toward the inner room.
The porcelain vase shattered against the green-furred monster's body—
Completely ineffective!
Fragments of ceramic and dirt scattered across the polished marble floor—
But the creature merely stepped over them, completely unfazed!
Though the vase had done no damage—
It had at least delayed the monster for a brief moment.
Seeing this, Mu Chenyi also grabbed a vase nearby—
And with all the strength he could muster—
He smashed it toward the monster's head!
CRACK!
A sharp sound echoed through the room—
Yet, there was no splash of blood.
The green-furred monster reacted at an inhuman speed—
With a single slap, it sent the vase flying aside—
And in the same motion, its iron-blue claws lunged toward Wang Zichen's throat!
To the monster, Wang Zichen was clearly the greater threat.
Seeing that he was the primary target, Wang Zichen gritted his teeth—
And, with unexpected agility, he yanked off his belt—
Then whipped it violently toward the monster!
SWISH!
The belt lashed out at high speed—
But in the next instant, the monster's claw snatched it mid-air!
A surge of immense force pulled at the belt—
The green-furred monster was reeling Wang Zichen in!
Clearly—
Even a Seven Wolves leather belt was useless against this creature.
With no choice, Wang Zichen let go of the belt—
And, while holding up his pants, bolted backward!
"Chen Wan'er, do you have the weapons yet?!"
He roared, his voice rough with urgency.
"Got them!"
Chen Wan'er emerged from the inner room, carrying two katanas—
She tossed one to Wang Zichen—
And the other to Mu Chenyi.
The moment Wang Zichen caught his katana, he exhaled in relief.
He unsheathed the blade in one swift motion—
One hand gripping the katana's hilt firmly—
The other clutching his waistband tightly to keep his pants from falling.
Then, with all his might—
He slashed at the green-furred monster!
SHING!
Both katanas were razor-sharp—
Their gleaming edges sliced through the air with blinding speed!
The monster noticed the incoming attack—
Its instinct told it to raise its arms to block—
But just before it could react—
Its lifeless, dislodged eyeballs suddenly flashed with an eerie glow!
For a brief moment—
Its arms failed to move!
And in that instant—
Wang Zichen's katana struck the monster's throat!
SLASH!
The blade embedded itself halfway into the creature's neck—
Its flesh was so unnaturally tough that the sword couldn't cut all the way through!
"GIVE ME A HAND!"
Wang Zichen roared.
Mu Chenyi immediately unsheathed his katana—
And thrust the blade into the monster's throat as well!
SQUELCH!
The katana's tip pierced into the monster's neck—
But Mu Chenyi's strength was lacking—
Only the tip of the blade went in, leaving most of the sword still exposed outside.
"Hoo-hoo-hoo…!"
At that moment—
The glowing light in the monster's eyeballs faded—
It let out an agonized howl—
Its limbs flailed wildly—
And its iron-blue claws gripped the katanas, attempting to yank them out!
Seeing this, Wang Zichen reacted immediately—
He and Mu Chenyi both tightened their grips on the hilt—
And, with all their might—
They forced the blades deeper into the monster's throat!
"PFFT!"
The katana completely pierced through the green-furred monster's throat—
Skewering it entirely!
The monster's struggles ceased—
Its dislodged eyeballs lost all light—
And its massive body collapsed onto the ground with a thunderous thud.
Mu Chenyi and Wang Zichen finally released their grips—
Both katanas stood upright in the monster's corpse—
Like flags planted on conquered territory.
Seeing this—
The two men glanced at each other—
Then, simultaneously slumped onto the floor, gasping for breath.
"Good thing that monster suddenly stopped moving…," Mu Chenyi muttered tiredly, "or else it wouldn't have been ripping a toilet apart—it would've been ripping us apart instead."
Wang Zichen didn't respond—
Instead, he turned his head toward Chen Wan'er, who was also sitting exhausted on the floor.
His eyes narrowed as he asked,
"Chen Wan'er, that monster suddenly freezing—was that your skill?"
A skill?
Mu Chenyi's eyes widened—
He turned toward Chen Wan'er, surprised.
She didn't even fight—why does she look so exhausted?
"Mhm," Chen Wan'er nodded.
"My skill lets me control non-human creatures."
Her voice was drained, as if she had expended a tremendous amount of energy.
"But that thing was too strong—I couldn't hold it for long.
Luckily, you two managed to kill it while I had it restrained."
Hearing this, Mu Chenyi was amazed—
But his curiosity quickly shifted—
He turned to Wang Zichen and asked,
"Fatty Wang, what about your skill?"
"I noticed you didn't seem to use any abilities during the fight—what exactly is it?"
