Chapter 1: The Goat That Shook the Heavens
The world was ending.
At least, that was the only logical conclusion Ren could come up with as he bolted through the dense, shadow-choked forest. The sky, once a tranquil sea of blue, was now a battlefield of crimson lightning and swirling black clouds. The air itself felt thick, humming with an eerie energy that prickled against his skin.
What the hell is going on?!
Ren wasn't the kind of guy to believe in omens or divine wrath, but when the ground beneath you trembles like a living beast and the sky bleeds red, it's hard not to think the universe has it out for you.
A deafening boom rattled his bones. He ducked just in time as an ancient tree, its bark glowing with unnatural energy, split apart and crashed inches from where he had just stood. His breath came in ragged gasps. His legs burned. His mind screamed at him to stop, but fear pushed him forward.
I have to get out of here!
And then, as if mocking his desperation, the world went completely still.
No rustling leaves. No howling wind. Not even the distant chirp of an insect. The unnatural silence coiled around him like an invisible predator.
Then he saw it.
Standing in the clearing ahead, bathed in the pale glow of the eerie twilight, was a goat.
Not a monster. Not a beast from the abyss. Just… a goat.
White fur, two little curved horns, and golden eyes that gleamed with an unsettling intelligence. It chewed lazily on a patch of grass as if the world wasn't collapsing around it.
Ren's breath hitched. He had no idea why, but something about the creature sent a chill crawling down his spine.
And then, the system notification appeared.
[Congratulations! You have obtained an SSS-Rank Familiar: "???"]
[Please name your familiar.]
Ren blinked. His body was still shaking from adrenaline, but his mind latched onto one thing—this was a system prompt. A goddamn system prompt.
His heart thundered.
I have a system?!
In an instant, all the fear, all the exhaustion, was shoved aside by a tidal wave of excitement. He wasn't just some helpless guy stuck in a hellish nightmare. He had a system.
But… why a goat?
Ren took a hesitant step forward. The goat stopped chewing and tilted its head, observing him with eerie calm.
A second prompt flashed before him.
[Warning: Unnamed familiars may not recognize their masters.]
[Failure to name your familiar in the next 10 seconds will result in forced contract cancellation.]
Wait, what?
His brain scrambled. He didn't know what would happen if the contract was canceled, but he wasn't about to lose an SSS-Rank familiar—whatever that meant.
With barely a second left on the timer, he blurted out, "Uh… Goaty?"
A moment of silence stretched between them.
The goat stared at him.
The system beeped.
[Familiar successfully named: "Goaty the Calamity."]
Ren frowned. "Wait, what?"
[SSS-Rank Title unlocked: "Calamity's Herald."]
[Passive Ability unlocked: "King of Beasts."]
The air trembled. A heavy pressure slammed into him, making his knees buckle. It was as if an invisible force had acknowledged his existence, marking him as something greater—something terrifying.
And then the goat moved.
It took a single step forward.
The world exploded.
The trees within a hundred meters of them were obliterated in an instant. The ground beneath Ren's feet cracked like fragile glass, sending spiderweb fractures across the forest floor. The sky itself seemed to ripple, as if recoiling from the mere presence of the creature.
Ren could only gape in absolute horror.
"What the hell are you?!"
Goaty let out a simple, unimpressed baa.
And the heavens answered.
---
The Goat That Defies Logic
Ren didn't move. He didn't breathe. He didn't even blink.
He just stood there, his mind desperately trying—and failing—to process what the hell had just happened.
One second, Goaty had taken a step. The next, the entire damn forest had been annihilated.
The trees? Gone. Reduced to splinters.
The ground? Fractured beyond recognition.
The air? Vibrating with an invisible force that made Ren feel like he was standing on the edge of an active volcano.
And Goaty?
Goaty just stood there. Chewing grass. Unbothered. Unimpressed. Completely oblivious to the absolute destruction it had just caused.
Ren swallowed hard. His hands were shaking. His legs felt like jelly.
He had seen overpowered protagonists in fantasy stories before—characters who could shatter mountains and split oceans with a wave of their hand. But this? This was beyond anything he had ever imagined.
A simple step.
Just one step from this goat had done this.
Ren sucked in a breath and forced himself to move. He took a careful step backward, slowly raising his hands as if he was trying to calm a wild animal.
"Hey, buddy..." His voice was barely above a whisper. "Let's not destroy reality again, okay?"
Goaty's golden eyes locked onto his, and for a split second, Ren swore he felt something ancient staring back at him.
Then the goat let out another baa.
And the sky rippled.
Ren's stomach dropped.
Oh, come on!
Before he could react, another system notification slammed into his vision.
[Passive Ability Activated: "King of Beasts"]
[All creatures within a 10-kilometer radius recognize you as their superior.]
A distant roar echoed through the air.
Then another.
And another.
The ground shook as something massive began to move in the distance. Trees snapped like twigs. Shadows slithered through the mist.
Ren felt cold sweat trickle down his back.
What... what did I just activate?
Then, from the ruined remains of the forest, they appeared.
A pack of wolves—no, not wolves. These creatures were at least three times the size of normal wolves, their fur crackling with blue electricity. Their eyes glowed like molten gold, and their fangs gleamed under the blood-red sky.
Behind them, a towering bear emerged, its muscles rippling with unnatural strength. Its claws left deep gashes in the earth with every step.
And further back, lurking in the shadows, something bigger moved.
Ren's breathing turned shallow. There were too many.
Too fast.
Too strong.
And all of them... were staring directly at him.
He clenched his fists, bracing himself. He didn't have any weapons. He didn't have a plan.
If they attacked, he was
The creatures suddenly bowed.
Ren blinked.
The wolves lowered their heads in submission. The bear knelt, pressing its massive paws against the ground. Even the unseen beast lurking in the shadows let out a deep, rumbling growl before lowering itself.
It took a full five seconds for Ren's brain to catch up.
What... what just happened?
Then he remembered.
[All creatures within a 10-kilometer radius recognize you as their superior.]
A nervous chuckle escaped his lips. He took a shaky step forward, and the creatures did not move to attack. They remained kneeling, waiting.
Ren swallowed.
He had just become the king of monsters.
10 Minutes Later…
Ren sat on a broken tree trunk, staring blankly at the army of beasts surrounding him.
The wolves had formed a protective perimeter. The giant bear was seated next to him, its breathing deep and steady. And in the distance, more creatures were approaching—each one larger and deadlier than the last.
He rubbed his temples.
"This... is a lot."
Goaty, still chewing grass, let out another casual baa.
Ren shot the goat a glare. "Oh, don't you act like you didn't just break the world. This is your fault."
Goaty blinked at him.
Then yawned.
Ren groaned. "Great. My SSS-Rank familiar is an overpowered menace with the attitude of a housecat."
Another notification popped up.
[SSS-Rank Title Unlocked: "Beast Emperor"]
[Your authority over monsters has increased.]
[You can now issue telepathic commands to your subordinates.]
Ren nearly choked on air.
He could command them?!
He hesitated, then focused on the closest wolf the one crackling with blue lightning.
He thought of a command.
Jump.
The wolf instantly leaped 30 feet into the air.
Ren's eyes went wide. Holy shit.
He tried again.
Crawl.
The massive, deadly predator obediently lowered itself to the ground and slithered forward like a submissive dog.
Ren exhaled slowly.
This was real.
He wasn't dreaming.
He wasn't hallucinating.
He had just been thrown into a world where he had an SSS-Rank Goat of Doom, an army of mythical beasts, and enough power to turn reality into his playground.
A slow, almost terrified grin spread across his face.
"...I think I just became a walking disaster."
Goaty let out another unimpressed baa.
Ren sighed.
"Yeah, yeah. I get it. You're the real boss here."
The goat flicked its tail.
Ren shook his head, his mind racing.
He needed answers. He needed to figure out where he was, what the system wanted, and how deep this rabbit hole went.
But most importantly...
He needed to not piss off his goat.
Because if one step had obliterated a forest…
He didn't want to know what would happen if it ran.
