Chapter 29: The Void Bringer's Wrath
---
The atmosphere in the city had grown tense. Rumors of the Void Bringer's imminent arrival spread like wildfire, casting a shadow over the once-vibrant streets. The people were terrified, unsure of what was to come. Fear rippled through every corner of the realm, and the council's efforts to calm the masses seemed futile in the face of such an ancient terror.
Michael stood in the council hall, staring out of the large windows that overlooked the city. The world outside appeared peaceful, but he knew better. The calm before the storm was always the most deceptive.
"You're thinking about the people, aren't you?" Seraphina's voice broke through his thoughts. She stepped beside him, her expression somber. "I can feel it. You're wondering if they'll survive this."
Michael turned to her, his expression hard. "I'm wondering if any of us will."
She placed a hand on his shoulder, her touch grounding him in the midst of the chaos. "We'll fight with everything we have, Michael. You've led us through battles that should have torn us apart. This one... This one will be no different."
He nodded, his gaze hardening. "We have to be prepared. The Void Bringer isn't just an enemy; it's a force of nature. We'll need more than just strength to defeat it."
Kael's voice came from behind them. "You're right. That's why I've been working on something." He stepped forward, holding up a small, glowing orb. "This is a fragment of the Void itself. I've been studying it for the past few days, trying to understand how we can use its energy against the Void Bringer."
Michael raised an eyebrow. "You're sure this won't backfire?"
Kael's eyes narrowed with determination. "It's risky, but it's the best chance we have. If we can harness this energy and channel it through the Dragon Hosts, we might be able to create a weapon strong enough to oppose the Void Bringer's power."
Michael felt a spark of hope ignite within him. "How soon can we begin?"
"Immediately," Kael replied. "But we'll need all the Dragon Hosts to be present. The more energy we can gather, the stronger the weapon will be."

The Gathering Storm
The council wasted no time. The Dragon Hosts were called upon, their strength and unity the key to their survival. One by one, they arrived in the heart of the city, each bringing with them their unique powers. The Fire Dragon Host, with its blazing flames; the Water Dragon Host, with its command over the seas; the Wind Dragon Host, whose mastery over the winds was unmatched; and, of course, Michael, the Thunder Dragon Host, whose power had only grown since the battle with General Karl.
The council set up a central chamber within the city, a place where all the Dragon Hosts could come together. The orb of Void energy pulsed faintly in the center of the room, surrounded by runes and incantations designed to protect them from the dangerous energy they were about to wield.
Seraphina, ever the strategist, stood beside Michael, her eyes scanning the room as the Dragon Hosts gathered. "This is it. If this ritual works, we may stand a chance. If not…" She let the words hang in the air, but Michael understood the implication.
"We'll make it work," Michael said, his voice firm. "We can't afford to fail."
Kael began the incantation, his hands moving fluidly as he called upon the energy of the Void. The orb in the center of the room pulsed brighter with each passing moment, its energy crackling with power.
The Dragon Hosts joined him, their powers beginning to resonate with the energy of the orb. Michael could feel the electricity in the air, the charge of magic and raw power building to a crescendo. It was as if the very world itself was holding its breath.
The wind began to howl, the flames flickered erratically, and the ground beneath them shook. The energy was growing stronger, but so too was the strain on the Dragon Hosts. Each of them was channeling their life force into the orb, trying to direct its power toward the weapon that would hopefully be their salvation.
"Hold it together!" Kael shouted. "We need more—just a little more!"
Michael's heart raced as he poured more of his Thunder Dragon energy into the orb, pushing himself beyond his limits. He could feel the power coursing through him, a violent storm of energy that threatened to tear him apart. But he kept going, determined to see this through.
The orb erupted in a flash of light, the power surging outward in a shockwave that rattled the very foundations of the city. The Dragon Hosts staggered back, exhausted, but there was no time to rest. The weapon had been created—but it wasn't ready yet.
"We need to test it," Michael said, his voice strained.
But before they could do anything, a deafening roar echoed across the skies, followed by a shadow falling over the city. The Void Bringer had arrived.
---
The Descent of the Void Bringer
The ground trembled beneath them as the skies darkened, casting a shadow over the entire city. The clouds swirled, and the air grew heavy with an oppressive, suffocating force. The Void Bringer had made its presence known.
From the swirling darkness above, a figure descended. It was impossible to make out its form fully; its silhouette was a shifting mass of shadows, constantly changing shape. Its presence alone was enough to send waves of terror through everyone who saw it.
Michael's heart pounded in his chest as he stepped forward, his Thunder Dragon trident in hand. "This is it," he said, his voice cold and steady. "We fight now, or we lose everything."
The Void Bringer's voice boomed, echoing like a thousand whispers in the wind. "You are all insignificant before me. This world will fall, as all worlds fall. You cannot stop the inevitable."
Michael's eyes narrowed. "We'll see about that."
With a sudden roar, the Void Bringer's dark tendrils shot out toward them, the ground splitting as they lashed out, destroying everything in their path. The Dragon Hosts surged forward, their powers combining to create a barrier of elemental energy that held for only a moment before it shattered under the Void Bringer's assault.
The battle had begun. The world's fate rested on the shoulders of the Dragon Hosts, and Michael knew that no matter how powerful their weapon was, they would need more than just strength to survive this. They would need every ounce of courage, every scrap of hope they could muster.
