"Onii-chan! You're finally awake!"
"S-Sakura?!" I blink, looking around. "Where are we? What happened? Weren't we just—"
And then it hits me. The last thing I remember, we were crossing the street when—yep. Truck-kun.
"Oh no…" I groan, sitting up. "Don't tell me… we died?"
"Mhm." Sakura nods, way too cheerful for someone who just got isekai'd. "But don't worry! A super nice goddess brought us here. She said it's a fantasy world with magic and everything!"
Fantasy world… magic… I look around. We're in some kind of medieval-looking village. Stone roads, people in cloaks, a guy selling potions… Yep. This is totally an isekai setting.
A spark of excitement ignites in my chest. This is my moment! I'll get a legendary power, go on epic quests, and become the hero of this world! Finally, my protagonist arc begins!
I turn to Sakura. "Did the goddess give us any special powers?"
She tilts her head. "Oh, yeah! She gave me a bunch!"
"Wait. You?"
"Yup!" She smiles, holding up a hand. A giant ball of fire instantly appears above her palm.
I freeze. "W-Wait, you can use magic?!"
"Uhm!" She flicks her wrist, and the fireball transforms into a swirling tornado of ice, then crackles with electricity before disappearing. "Oh, and I also got super strength, instant healing, and, um… something about 'absolute destruction'? I wasn't really listening."
I gape at her. What kind of broken skill set is that?!
"S-So what did I get?" I ask, a little nervous now.
Sakura blinks. "Oh. The goddess said you're… normal."
"…Excuse me?"
"She said you don't have any special abilities. But that's okay, Onii-chan! You have me!" She puffs out her chest proudly. "I'll protect you forever!"
I feel my soul leave my body. This can't be happening. My little sister got all the cheat powers?!
This is the worst-case scenario! I was supposed to be the overpowered protagonist, but now I'm just the background character in her story?!
I rub my temples. "Okay, okay. No big deal. I can still be an adventurer, level up, and...."
"Oh! You don't need to worry about that!" Sakura interrupts. "I already took care of everything!"
"…What do you mean?"
She points behind me. I turn around—
—and see a MOUNTAIN of gold and treasure.
"Where did you get all that?!"
"Oh, I just defeated the Demon Lord real quick!"
"You WHAT?!"
Sakura tilts her head. "Was I not supposed to?"
I stare at her, my entire isekai dream crumbling. In less than an hour, my little sister has already beaten the final boss, collected all the treasure, and become the strongest being in the world.
Meanwhile, I'm just… here.
I sigh. "Okay, fine. At least let me get a girlfriend."
Sakura's cheerful smile instantly vanishes. Her aura turns dark. "Onii-chan… you don't need a girlfriend. You have me."
I gulp. I have a bad feeling about this.
My isekai adventure… might already be over.
