Chapter 2 - Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [2]

Gardevoir—Elias's ideal choice for his destined Pokémon.

Psychic-type, powerful, and most importantly—an absolute stunner, the perfect embodiment of dancing on the edges of XP preferences.

Fake breeders: Treat Pokémon as their best companions.

True breeders: Treat Pokémon as their wives.

Sure, even a Golem wasn't entirely out of the question, but Gardevoir? Now that was a choice one could embrace wholeheartedly.

[Age 1: Despite being abandoned by your parents, you remain optimistic in the orphanage. However, your maturity sets you apart from your peers, creating an invisible gap.]

[Age 2: You begin to sense a strange energy within you, though you don't yet understand how to use it.]

[Age 3: The energy inside you grows stronger. If you don't find a way to channel it soon, you fear it may overwhelm you.]

[Age 3: While wandering through the city's marketplace, you meet the local Psychic-type Gym Leader. He has a newborn daughter named Sabrina.]

"Sabrina? The future Saffron City Gym Leader?"

Elias now had a rough idea of the current timeline.

But rather than worrying about his potential connection with Sabrina, his immediate concern was his body.

If he ended up dying in this simulation because his own psychic energy burst him from the inside out, that would be the ultimate injustice.

---

[Age 4: After an examination from the Gym Leader, you learn that the energy inside you is psychic power. However, judging by his furrowed brows, you suspect your condition is far from normal.]

"Elias, your psychic energy is extremely dangerous," the Gym Leader said with a grave expression.

As a Psychic-type specialist—and a psychic himself—this was the first time he had encountered such a case.

"Normally, a person's psychic power has a fixed limit. Once it reaches a certain level, it stops increasing."

"But… in your case, it seems there is no such limit."

As the Gym Leader explained the severity of the situation, Elias absentmindedly entertained baby Sabrina with a plush toy.

The tiny girl, just over a year old, giggled and cooed, her chubby cheeks making her look even more adorable.

"Is there a solution, sir?"

What surprised the Gym Leader wasn't Elias's condition—it was his reaction.

Most children his age would have panicked, maybe even broken down in tears.

But Elias's voice was steady, as if he were discussing something as trivial as the weather.

"…Sigh."

The Gym Leader let out a deep sigh, somewhat frustrated by Elias's lack of concern for his own life.

He genuinely liked this polite and gifted child—enough that for a brief moment, he even considered adopting him as a son-in-law.

Quickly dismissing that absurd thought, he continued, "There is a solution."

"But… it won't be easy."

"Oh?" Now, Elias was intrigued.

He glanced at the Gym Leader—thick beard and all—and was genuinely surprised that the man actually had a method in mind.

Seeing Elias's interest, the Gym Leader explained, "Since your energy is psychic in nature, the logical solution is to find a Psychic-type Pokémon."

"They are natural experts in handling psychic energy, and unlike humans, their bodies are built to withstand it. They don't face the risk of being overpowered by their own abilities."

"In theory, if a Psychic-type Pokémon were willing to absorb and channel your excess energy into itself, your problem would be solved."

Finishing his explanation, the Gym Leader took a sip of water.

It was a lot to take in, but he trusted that Elias—who was far more intelligent than most children his age—would grasp the key points.

Sure enough, after a brief moment of thought, Elias looked up at him again.

"So the real issue is… finding a Pokémon willing to let a foreign psychic force invade its body?"

That made perfect sense.

For Psychic-type Pokémon, their bodies were already saturated with their own psychic energy.

Letting in someone else's power would be like allowing a complete stranger to violate their entire being on a microscopic level—down to every single pore. No Pokémon would willingly accept that.

"That's exactly it."

The Gym Leader sighed again, feeling even more regretful for Elias's situation.

"I'll keep an eye out for Psychic-type Pokémon. Thank you for your help, sir."

Glancing at the sky, Elias gently placed the now-sleeping Sabrina back into her crib before taking his leave.

---

[Age 5: After learning the possible solution, you begin searching for Psychic-type Pokémon and asking for their help.]

[Unfortunately, even a Drowzee recoiled in horror at your request. The idea of exchanging psychic energy seemed to be an unspoken taboo among them.]

[Though disappointed, you don't push the issue.]

[Same year: Your intellect continues to surpass your peers, and by now, your knowledge level exceeds that of an average high school student.]

[Achievement unlocked: The Child Genius Next Door! (Effect: You learn new skills at twice the normal speed.)]

This was his first achievement, and Elias was pleasantly surprised.

The effect seemed quite useful—at the very least, it would make researching Berry formulas much easier.

But that wasn't the real issue here.

The real issue was—

Where the hell was his Gardevoir?!

The simulation was supposed to give him a Pokémon wife, but after all this time, he hadn't even seen a Ralts, let alone Gardevoir!

"System, do you know where's Gardevoir?"

Forcing the system out of its pretend-to-be-dead mode, Elias frowned in confusion.

[Haha… Sorry, I kinda blacked out there. You've been simulating for quite a while, huh?]

[Honestly, Gardevoir doesn't even matter anymore. You picked the gambler's trait and the beauty-seeker's trait, and on top of that, you won't even live long. Host, just restart.]

The system's voice was weak, as if it had already foreseen the inevitable doom of this simulation.

[I need to go reread the system manual. Just consider this run a warm-up.]

[As for Gardevoir… The timing of your destined Pokémon's appearance isn't fixed—it depends on your own luck.]

With that, the system muttered something about how "ratings don't even matter anymore" and disappeared.

Elias, realizing that his wife simply hadn't arrived yet, let out a sigh of relief.

Alright then. The simulation continues!

---

[Age 6: This year, you successfully use psychic power for the first time.]

"Monster! A monster!"

The bank robber collapsed to the ground, eyes wide with terror.

Just moments ago, he and his crew had effortlessly blown open the bank's doors and subdued the security guards with their Pokémon.

Everything was going exactly as planned—this was supposed to be the perfect heist.

Then that monster showed up.

With just a single flash of his eyes, a crushing wave of psychic energy had reduced their armored getaway vehicle to dust.

Even their Pokémon had been flattened in an instant—rendered completely immobile before they could react.

That thing… That thing wasn't human.

That was a Psychic-type Pokémon wearing human skin!

Even as Officer Jenny hauled them away, the robbers remained in a dazed, broken state, as if they had just witnessed an eldritch horror.

"Elias, thank you for your help!"

Officer Jenny, radiating confidence and authority, smiled at him. She was well aware of the orphanage's prodigious little genius.

Now, seeing his incredible psychic power firsthand, an idea crossed her mind.

"My place is pretty spacious, you know. What do you think—want to move in and become my personal assistant?"

"Together, we could take down crime!"

T/N: poor system...
