Chapter 1 - Prologue: Thunder in the Jungle

Thunder rolled, dark clouds churned, and electricity flashed and thundered in the depths of the dense forest, as if everything in heaven and earth was being torn apart by thunder.

Wild winds blew against the ancient giant trees, the branches and leaves shook crazily, and the thick vines flopped in the air like poisonous snakes.

The night was thick and heavy, and the rainstorm was like a waterfall.

But in the centre of this intertwined rainstorm and lightning, there was an unusually quiet clearing.

A huge Thunder Qilin, its body wrapped in purple-gold lightning, was guarding something.

It was curled up in a circle, its scarlet eyes were unusually gentle, and its nostrils were spewing out scorching thunder qi.

Between the flashes of lightning, it revealed the centre of its guardianship - a baby wrapped in rags, its golden pupils faintly glowing in the dark night, as if it possessed the colour of lightning itself.

The baby gazed at the Thunder Unicorn silently, and was actually not afraid at all, instead reaching out its tiny hand to touch the thunder-twisted mane.

The Thunder Unicorn lowered its head and gently touched him with its forehead, like a soothing gesture.

In the distance, a group of young men and women clad in hunter uniforms were rapidly travelling through the jungle.

They were an actual combat team from the Monster Hunter Academy, and were on a dangerous mission to hunt down Lei Qilin.

Among them, the captain was a stern but experienced veteran hunter 'Carlos', and beside him was a gentle and intelligent female hunter 'Elena'.

Carlos frowned and whispered:

'Something's wrong, this Thunder Gryphon doesn't attack the human area, but stays here ... like it's guarding something ....'

Amidst the thunder and lightning, they quietly approached the Thunder Gryphon's habitat.

When they saw the golden pupil baby that was guarded by the Thunder Qilin, the entire team of hunters sucked in a breath of cold air.

Elena's gaze was complicated: ''This, this is ... the child guarded by the Thunder Qilin? Impossible ... how could a monster ...'

Just as the crowd was in disbelief, the Thunder Qilin slowly raised its head and looked at them, its eyes calm, even with sadness and ... pleading?

In the next second, the Thunder Qilin suddenly looked up to the sky, a thunder boomed down, the ground was blown out of a deep pit, while it did not attack the hunters, just a last look at the baby, leapt into the thunder, disappeared without a trace.

The rainstorm gradually stopped.

The hunters gathered around and looked at the baby lying in the rags - the pair of pale golden pupils, quietly looking at them, not crying.

Elena crouched down and carefully picked up the child, softly saying:

'Don't be afraid, child, it's alright ...'

Carlos' face was grave: '... Take him back to the academy, or, send him to a nearby village.'

But Elena shook her head gently and said firmly:

'I will personally look after him ... until he can decide, which path he wants to take.'

In the afterglow of the thunder and lightning, the baby leaned back in Elena's arms, and in her eyes, there was a calmness that did not belong to a baby.

'On that day, no one knew that the child who was guarded by the Thunder Gryphon would, in the future, take the entire world by storm.'

'They also couldn't predict that that seemingly silent and elegant young man would use the taijutsu in his hand to cut the shackles of destiny, thunder transforming into blades, and the sword cutting through the heavens.'

As the sound of thunder faded away, the image was fixed on the slightly open golden pupils in Elena's arms, reflecting the last trace of electricity.
