Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Rockefeller Charlot

"Whoosh! Whoosh!"

"Thirteen thousand two hundred and twenty - one!"

"Thirteen thousand two hundred and twenty - two!"

On the shore, there was a strong teenage boy who looked seventeen or eighteen, waving a dumbbell more than ten times larger than himself.

Each swing was accompanied by a whistling sound of the wind.

The boy had been doing this for most of the day.

Sweat dripped from his well - defined muscles onto the ground.

Standing at 1.95 meters tall with a strong build, it was hard to believe that this boy was actually only fifteen years old.

"Fourteen thousand!"

Thud!

When the boy reached fifteen thousand swings, his arms could no longer hold on, and the dumbbell in his hand dropped to the ground.

"Whew! So tired!"

The boy plopped down on the ground, gasping for breath.

The muscles in his arms were trembling slightly.

"I waved it three thousand more times than yesterday!"

The boy clenched his fists, his face full of excitement.

You know, this dumbbell weighed a full hundred tons, but he could easily swing it fourteen thousand times!

This was not something an ordinary person could do.

That's right, the boy had traveled to a world where strength was supreme.

Moreover, the boy was quite familiar with this world.

It was the world of the *One Piece* anime that he had watched since childhood in his previous life.

He had actually traveled to the world of *One Piece*.

However, it seemed that he had traveled too early.

Because when he was ten, he accidentally saw the Rocks Pirates in the newspaper.

And now, the timeline was only in the Year of the Sea Calendar 1480.

There were still forty years until Luffy set sail.

When Charlot learned this news, he was completely stunned.

Anyone who had watched *One Piece* knew that this world was not friendly. Maybe one day, pirates would invade.

Although there were far fewer pirates at this time than in later generations, there was no guarantee that a group of pirates wouldn't show up one day.

What made Charlot even more desperate was that he was located in the second half of the Grand Line.

That is, the place that later generations called the New World.

This made Charlot extremely nervous.

Traveling into the body of a ten - year - old kid and knowing that he was in the New World had already made the newly - traveled Charlot extremely panicked.

This made Charlot's sense of crisis explode.

Fortunately, after a short moment of panic, Charlot calmed down.

In his previous life, as a mercenary, he found all of this extremely strange, but he still endured the shock and accepted this reality.

As for why he became a mercenary, it was a bit of a strange story.

In his previous life, he heard that he could make a lot of money as a mercenary in the Middle East during the summer vacation. Somehow, after being introduced by a friend, he joined a mercenary group, perhaps due to a momentary lapse in judgment.

From then on, his mercenary career began.

As the saying goes, you're bound to get your feet wet if you're always around water.

During a battle with some gangsters, a melon - like grenade suddenly appeared beside him.

He didn't know who threw it.

It exploded instantly.

Before Charlot even had time to react, he felt his body being torn apart, and then he lost consciousness.

When he woke up, he had traveled to this world, into the body of a ten - year - old kid.

And this original host was quite unlucky. While loitering by the seaside, he was swept into the sea by a wave and then slammed onto the rocks, knocking him unconscious.

He usurped the original host's body (like a cuckoo occupying a magpie's nest).

The island he was on was very small. The whole island had only a little over a thousand people and just one small town. It was located in the first half of the New World, and there weren't many pirates here because not far from here was the Navy's G - 8 Branch.

Although it wasn't one of those well - known branches in later generations, it still gave the ten - year - old Xia Luo a sense of security.

After getting familiar with his surroundings, Xia Luo began to slowly recall his memories of watching *Pirate King* in his previous life.

But this recollection amazed Xia Luo.

You know, although he had watched *Pirate King* since childhood, he didn't have much time to watch it when he was a mercenary. He had almost forgotten the early plot.

But unexpectedly, he could now remember it clearly.

This got Xia Luo all excited.

With these memories, as long as he played it extra - cautious, he could survive until the end of the story.

Of course, Xia Luo didn't want to just play it safe.

He also wanted to have adventures and leave his name in this world.

Being content with the status quo was not Xia Luo's style.

His name in this life was Rockefeller Xia Luo.

Having watched *Pirate King*, Xia Luo knew that this world was extremely dangerous, especially after the onset of the Great Age of Pirates, which was fraught with perils. Pirates on the sea were as numerous as ants, covering the entire ocean.

He didn't want to die in a muddle - headed way one day.

To live a wonderful life, Xia Luo started his own training.

He knew the cultivation systems in *Pirate King*.

Swordsmanship, hand - to - hand combat, the three kinds of Haki, Devil Fruits, and marksmanship.

All of them could make a person powerful.

Xia Luo seriously considered his next path.

As a former mercenary, his first thought was marksmanship.

The problem was that he didn't have a single gun at hand!

Moreover, the guns in this world were flintlock guns, which instantly made Xia Luo abandon this idea.

Then he considered other methods.

Devil Fruits?

Xia Luo directly ruled it out. There was no way he could get a Devil Fruit since the original host didn't leave him any.

The three kinds of Haki.

His ten - year - old physical condition wasn't good enough for Armament Haki.

Observation Haki was something he could practice.

Conqueror's Haki.

Only one in a million people had Conqueror's Haki. He didn't know if he had the aptitude for it.

After ruling out these three systems, only swordsmanship and hand - to - hand combat were left.

Xia Luo knew something about these.

He could give it a try.

After setting his goals, Xia Luo made an arrangement for himself.

His first goal was to train his hand - to - hand combat skills.

And his reference was Zoro. In the anime, it was clearly recorded how Zoro trained.

For example, for lower - limb explosive force training, he jumped while carrying dumbbells.

For upper - limb explosive force training, he waved dumbbells with both hands.

And so on.

Combined with his own training methods from his mercenary days to train his hand - to - hand combat skills and physical fitness, it was very doable.

When it came to swordsmanship, Xia Luo was completely at a loss, but he just needed to know how to swing a sword.

He just didn't believe that he couldn't achieve anything by constantly swinging his sword.

Taking Zoro as an example gave Xia Luo great determination.

He just didn't believe that he, a time - traveler, could be inferior.

After having these thoughts, Xia Luo stayed in his thatched cottage for two days to recover from his injuries. After his injuries were almost healed, he started his training.

Even Xia Luo himself didn't expect his injuries to heal so quickly. In just two days, he could get out of bed and be lively.

You know, when he was rescued from the beach, he had several broken bones.

After having several meals of meat, he miraculously recovered in two days.

And the others were not surprised when they saw it.

It seemed that all this was very normal.

And he also found out what kind of meat he had eaten.

It was the King of the Near - Sea, which took a bite and severed Shanks' left arm at the beginning of the Pirate King story.

It belonged to the Sea Kings.

This made Xia Luo think of another way to become stronger, which was to eat.
