Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Lu Xiaofeng Appears

Matt Murdock's Escape

"Not good."

Matt's expression darkened as he listened from the shadows, realizing he had overstayed his welcome.

He immediately turned on his heel and sprinted away.

For the past few days, he had been keeping an eye on Madame Gao, sensing something off about her activities.

But this?

This was way worse than expected.

"A mysterious man in blood-red robes… wanting vampires for a sacrifice? What the hell is happening?"

Matt's mind raced as he darted through the alleyways.

"I need to stop this—whatever it is."

Usually, he could easily handle Madame Gao, but with the remaining four Hand leaders and this blood-clad monster in the mix?

No way.

This was a fight he couldn't win alone.

---

The Hand's Response

Outside the factory, Madame Gao watched Matt's retreating figure with an unreadable expression.

"Send the ninjas."

"Yes."

Without hesitation, brainwashed Hand ninjas leapt into the shadows, vanishing in pursuit.

As they disappeared, the tension in the air thickened.

The other Hand leaders glared at Madame Gao, their expressions stormy.

"You didn't say anything about a monster like Bai Yifei being involved."

"I had no choice," Madame Gao replied, her tone eerily calm.

Then—she smirked.

"But… perhaps this is an opportunity."

The others exchanged glances.

"Explain."

Madame Gao's wrinkled face took on a calculating look.

"The current Iron Fist has returned from Kunlun."

The room fell silent.

"If we use this blood-robed demon to force a confrontation, the Iron Fist will intervene."

"We wait for the right moment—strike them both down—"

"And then, we seize the Iron Fist's power for ourselves."

The others hesitated.

Murakami narrowed his eyes.

"And the Gu worms inside us?"

Madame Gao's jaw tightened.

"...I have a small supply of dragon bone dust left."

"It's enough for one resurrection each."

Matt vs. The Hand Ninjas

Deep in the labyrinthine alleyways, Matt twirled his batons, deflecting a ninja's sword strike before delivering a devastating kick.

BAM!

The ninja slammed into a brick wall, vanishing into white smoke.

"Again…"

Matt gritted his teeth, fending off more attacks.

The Hand's foot soldiers always disappeared upon death, as if they were never truly alive to begin with.

And tonight—

"Why are there so damn many of them?"

A sudden sharp pain flared in his shoulder.

A blade sliced through his suit, drawing warm blood.

"Damn it!"

Breathing heavily, Matt tightened his grip on his batons.

The ninjas were closing in.

There was no way out.

Then—

A calm, almost amused voice floated down.

"Looks like you're in a bit of trouble, my friend."

---

The Arrival of Lu Xiaofeng

Matt froze for a split second.

From above, a white-robed figure perched casually on a rooftop.

The man's long, neatly trimmed eyebrows gave him the illusion of four eyes, and his lips curled into a lazy, knowing smile.

Even in the middle of this dangerous battle, he looked completely at ease.

"My, my… what a lively night," the man mused.

It was Lu Xiaofeng—

A clone sent by Lu Cheng.

---

Matt didn't recognize him.

But something about this man's presence felt… different.

"Sir," Matt panted, keeping his guard up.

"This is dangerous. You should leave."

Lu Xiaofeng tilted his head.

"Leave?"

His smile deepened.

"But I, Lu Xiaofeng, happen to have a terrible habit… I love meddling in things that aren't my business."

And with that—

He leapt from the rooftop, landing effortlessly on the ground.

---

Matt's ears twitched, sensing his movements.

"This guy is… fast."

Not normal fast.

He had fought countless warriors before, but this man's movements were unreal—graceful, unpredictable, effortless.

"What's going on tonight? One strange person after another…"

Still, Matt didn't have time to question it.

The Hand ninjas saw Lu Xiaofeng intervening and immediately swarmed him.

But—

They never stood a chance.

Lu Xiaofeng's figure flickered, weaving through their ranks like a phantom.

With each strike—

A ninja vanished into white smoke.

One.

Two.

Three.

Within moments, the entire horde had been wiped out.

---

Matt exhaled deeply, pressing his hand against his bleeding shoulder.

"…Thanks."

"No need," Lu Xiaofeng replied smoothly.

He grinned, folding his arms.

"I, Lu Xiaofeng, enjoy making friends. What should I call you?"

Matt hesitated for a moment, before replying:

"…You can call me Matt."

Lu Xiaofeng's eyes twinkled with amusement.

"Matt."

His gaze flickered to the red mask covering Matt's eyes.

"Your eyes?"

Matt nodded.

"Lost them in an accident. But gained… other advantages."

Lu Xiaofeng's expression softened slightly.

"You remind me of an old friend—Hua Manlou."

"Blind, yet more in touch with the world than most people ever will be."

"He used to say—'Even if I can't see, I can still hear, still feel, still experience life in ways others can't. In some ways, I see more than they do.'"

For a moment—Matt was silent.

Then, he smirked faintly.

"Sounds like someone I'd get along with."

---

The Mention of Bai Yifei

As Matt adjusted his stance, he finally took in Lu Xiaofeng's appearance properly.

His outfit…

It looked ancient, almost like a relic from another time.

But more importantly—

It resembled the attire of the blood-robed man he had overheard at the factory.

His brows furrowed.

"Lu Xiaofeng…"

He hesitated before asking, "Do you know Bai Yifei?"

Lu Xiaofeng's playful expression vanished.

His eyes sharpened.

"Bai Yifei?"

A strange mix of emotions flickered across his face—excitement, frustration, nostalgia.

"I came to New York looking for him."

"He was once my friend… but now, he has betrayed Shushan."
