Chapter 7 - Unexcepted Mission

My brother and I lost our memories 9-10 years ago, I maybe was 13 or 14 years old. my brother is two years older than me. Everything before that is blank for me; everything, except for her. My mother is the only piece of the past that hasn't faded, the only face I can still see in my mind is her.

I may not show it, but Andrew is the only person I trust in this broken world. He's more than just a brother; he's my only friend. We've fought side by side through hell to become the fighters we are today, and every battle only strengthens the bond between us.

But the most mysterious thing for now, is this necklace… I can't remember where it came from. Is it hers? Or did it just belong to someone else? Or it belongs to the girl in my dreams? I don't know. What I do know is that it feels important to me, like it's tied to something, or someone. Whatever its origin, I can't lose it. It's the only fragment of my past I have left and one day I'm sure I'll discover this mystery.

The morning started with loud shouts from the camp officials, echoing like alarms. Andrew was up in a flash, rushing to the door. He opens it and asks,

"What's going on?"

One of the officials replied urgently, "Emergency meeting. Everyone to the hall now."

Andrew shut the door and turned to me with a serious look. "Let's go Roy. It looks like something big is happening. What do you think?"

I grabbed my shoes and clothes and replied. "If we hurry, we'll know."

We got ready and headed to the meeting room. The room wasn't big, and it felt cramped with so many people inside. There were a lot of faces I didn't recognize, new recruits or people from other divisions, maybe...

Andrew and I found seats near the back. Sophia joined us, sitting beside Andrew. She gave us both a quick nod, looking calm and focused as usual.

My attention shifted to the front, where 15 people sat in a line. These were clearly the leaders of the camp. Among them was Yuri, who spotted us and gave a small wave with a smile. I think this is typical Yuri calm in the middle of the storm.

The room went quiet as one of the leaders stood up and stepped forward. He had a commanding presence, his bald head and a short beard added to his sharp features, and his eyes are green. His deep voice echoed through the hall.

"My name is Daniel, and I am the supreme leader here, and I will be direct."

The room fell silent. Daniel pulled out a map so everyone can understand what's happening, we are located in the Devotion lands, in the northwest of what was once called Asia. We occupy a strategic location, surrounded by enemy forces and other camps, making us a target from all directions. Our camp is positioned in the southwest, carefully placed for both defence and covert operations.

Daniel's voice brought my focus back to the front.

"The Drayton Empire," he said, pointing to their territory on the map. "Our intelligence suggests that their princess is planning a meeting with the Ingocia Empire. If this is true, it could shift the power in these lands. We've received a word from our spy, that the convoy will be moving soon, and to be prepared if this is a trap I will not send an army there."

He paused, his eyes scanning the room.

"This is where you come in, the Special Forces. The elites. I need a team of four to lead a small group of additional soldiers. Your mission is to intercept the convoy and bring the princess back alive. She should not be harmed under any circumstances. If we succeed, we'll have the ability to negotiate the release of our prisoners held by the Drayton Empire."

The weight of his words settled over the room like a heavy blanket.

Yuri stepped forward, his calm voice cutting through the tension. "You've trained for times like this. This mission isn't just about strategy and skills now, it's about shaping the future. If you choose to volunteer, you need to understand the risks."

Andrew leaned toward me.

"This seems like a big deal Roy. What do you want us to do?"

I stared at the map, a cold determination settling in my mind. This wasn't just a mission. This was, a war, and it was about to change everything.

I nodded to Andrew and Sophia, keeping my tone steady and calm. "Let's be the team that takes this mission. It's our chance to move forward."

They did not hesitate to agree to my request. Their confidence in me was unshakable. I stood, the weight of every gaze in the room pressing on me. I raised my hand slightly in agreement and said with a confident voice, "Sir, I'm Roy Celgius. I would like to volunteer for this mission with a team."

Andrew and Sophia immediately stood up and introduced themselves. Their unwavering support gave me strength.

Daniel's expression changed briefly, a hint of surprise appearing on his face at how quickly we had made the decision. "Roy, I've heard your name before. Your history is… remarkable. I'll approve your volunteer request and expect results. From what I've been told, you've never failed in a single mission. I trust you'll handle this one well. And you two behind him."

Andrew said with his confident voice, "I'm Andrew Celgius. I would like to volunteer for this mission".

Then Sophia followed, "I'm Sophia Vila, I am ready to volunteer in this mission."

Daniel nodded, "Perfect. Andrew and Sophia will be under your lead Roy".

That last part caught me off guard. My lead? I hadn't planned for that. But I held my reaction. If it was going to be like this, so be it.

Daniel continued, "However, you'll need one more member to complete your team. Please, if anyone wants to participate, raise your hands."

He scanned the room, and what surprise me, several hands has raised. But the one that caught my attention most was Crimzo's.

The sight of him volunteering was unexpected. I wasn't about to waste this opportunity. I said, Calmly, "For this mission, we need someone skilled in sniping and long-range support."

Daniel turned toward the others, addressing the snipers in the room. "Anyone else interested?"

Every other hand lowered except Crimzo's. Daniel gave him a nod of approval.

Crimzo stepped forward with a confident voice. "I'm Crimzo Lee, I'm ready to join the team. And I believe that my experience in long-range combat will be very useful."

I was surprised by his sudden willingness. What changed his mind? Was it because of the mission, or did he have his own reasons? Anyway, I'll find out by time.

Daniel seemed satisfied. "Great. With four members confirmed, the rest of the members will be dismissed to continue their normal duties. As for you, stay here. We will discuss the details of the mission now."

I looked at Crimzo briefly as he approached. He offered nothing more than a neutral expression. Whatever his reasons, this mission just got a lot more interesting…
