Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: First Day At School

It is the beginning of spring. I got up from my bed after my mother screamed at me. It is the first day of school after a long vacation. I am now a senior and school is quite a drag.

I rushed to the dining room to have breakfast. It is 9:00 a.m. now, and I will leave for school at 10:00 a.m. My afternoon school starts at noon, but I have to leave early because my school is quite far away.

It takes an hour to get to school, and the doors close at 11:30 a.m. After eating breakfast, I got ready in my usual school uniform. I got my ID card first; otherwise, I would not be allowed to enter.

My name is Rinette, and I have always wondered what an old name it was. I suppose there are multiple people with the same name, so I let that slide. Not everyone is happy with their names. You see, my friends have much more modern names. I was the only one in my school with this name.

Thanks to the All Mighty, I never got bullied in my school for my name. My adoptive parents decided not to rename me and kept the name that was provided by the orphanage I was in.

I have spent almost 13 years with this family, they are quite supportive. I am 17 now, and doing decent at school. I am grateful for the life I have as of now. But despite my parent's love, I never felt belonged to this world.

Do not get me wrong, I love them with all my heart. However, there is something like a … invisible wall separating me from them.

I took my ID card and left for school.

Got on my bus, and there were some people from my school taking the same bus. I am excited for this day. I get to see my best friend, Chelsea!

We grew up together, and she lives near to me. I suppose she will get up to the bus in the next bus stop.

The bus stopped at the next bus stand, and Chelsea got up.

Chelsea, " Hi Rinette!"

"Hi!" I said.

She sat by my side in the last seat of the bus near the window. I have the window seat. The weather is not the best, quite cloudy. I took an umbrella, just in case.

We chatted over anime, manga, comics, webtoons, and songs. We both had this huge crush on a guy from a webtoon. Honestly, I am addicted to webtoons and web-novels. I do need to check on my addictions before my grades fall by.

I have a 4.0 GPA and have decided to apply to the top schools. Though I am not a huge fan of school, I take my studies and my side hobbies seriously.

Chelsea mentioned that she loves isekai tales. And I cannot deny it either. We talked about what we were supposed to do if we woke up in a royal custom. She says that she would walk around the palace to acknowledge the beauty of the place. While I said that I would just be confused.

Yes, that is the first thing that came to my mind. If I woke up in an unknown world, in a different body where everyone knew me but I knew no one, I would be more than terrified. However, I do think being terrified would not be the best option for survival

I would probably just go with the flow to understand the body I was in. Anyway, that was one of the best discussions I ever had.

Also, I would have probably fallen for every young man in the palace since they all seem to come out of a fairytale anyway, haha. Talk about fictional crushes!

The bus arrived near our school, we got down. We chatted till we reached our classes. We have our first lecture together on the top floor.

We took the elevator to the 7th floor. Now to give you an idea, my school is pretty big. It is one of the elite schools in the entire city. We have different buildings, the main building has eight floors. It was a large campus, with lots of activities and clubs.

My first period was Biology. Chelsea and I went to the room on the 7th floor of the main campus. I never expected my life to take such a turn…
