Shun… was nowhere to be seen.
Kai thought Shun had run away like a coward and charged at the beast.
Rex following him from behind. Kai jumped and directly slammed his body onto the hound, trying to injure it with his own body.
The Hound, not expecting such an attack, was pushed back.
However, it was not enough to injure it, as Kai expected to break its bones with that attack, but nothing happened except for a slight bruise.

Rex saw this as a chance and took out the same dagger he had used to kill the deer. He did not want to alert the hound, so he had hidden it for a surprise attack.
Unfortunately for him, the beast had started feeling uneasy, its alertness at a high point. Noticing the dagger, the hound started taking the party seriously.
The beast's horn emitted a white glow, and water poured out of it. Rex stood beside Kai, waiting for the right moment.
He couldn't charge carelessly; the glowing horn could do anything. He was ready to dodge at any moment.

The beast's horn shimmered, and the water finally solidified into sharp water daggers as the beast focused everything onto a single attack.
But then, it sensed something coming towards it from above.

Rex smiled; he saw Shun jumping from a tree and landing on the beast directly, using it as a cushion and, at the same time, smashing into it.
"Nice timing, Shun," Rex praised and darted forward while holding the dagger tightly.
This time, Kai followed behind Rex.
Shun had injured the beast after landing on it. It was currently on the ground, trying to stand up.
The water dagger it had prepared became normal water, splashing onto itself after losing its focus.

Kai leaped forward and held the beast in place. Shun, holding it from above, had the beast immobilized for a few moments with Shun's cunningness.
Yue was still unconscious after the impact.

Rex nodded towards both Kai and Shun. Without any second thoughts, he stabbed the beast's neck and removed the dagger, only to stab it again with full force.
It was a ranked beast; he could not show any hesitation or carelessness.
He aimed to be thorough, knowing from movies that being careless could cost him.
This never gets easier, huh? He grumbled.

"Huh... Taming?" Rex scratched his head.
"Right, I asked the system to tame it."
He was so engrossed in the fight that he had forgotten he had asked the system to tame it.
Man, I should get used to the system, Rex sighed in frustration.
Well, I'm not sure if it would obey me after taming it forcefully he speculated, as he and everyone dropped onto the ground after their fight with exhaustion.
The system's voice soon came. "Oh?" His smile widened. "Yes. Tame it."
As Rex agreed to tame its soul, small shiny particles flowed out from the dead beast's body.

"Wow—That was quick," he raised an eyebrow, surprised by its speed, as he saw an ethereal form taking the same shape as the beast walking towards him.
Rex narrowed his eyes and commanded it to Hide. The beast stopped and hid behind a tree.
Rex grinned mischievously Did I just use telepathy and ask it to hide?
He instinctively knew when he tamed the hound's soul that he could communicate with just his thoughts.
But he didn't think it would actually work.
"Now, how will I explain to them about this beast?" he pondered rubbing his chin.
"No way… New skill, and taming points?" he mumbled with sparkling eyes and quickly checked its description.

Rex grinned, "Just what I needed."
He later tried to check what taming points were but couldn't get a description as the skill gave.
He shrugged, putting the matter behind for another time.
System, store {Hydrofang's Soul} in the Sanctuary, he thought and looked towards the beast blurring out of existence.
Then he asked to show its status.
