Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: First Love

Amais ran further and further. His tanned skin glistened with sweat, and his tattered clothes and bloodied self weren't good either. He muttered under his breath, wondering what kind of situation this was and wondering if it happened everywhere on Earth. He continued to run, but those things were faster than him, and he looked back and tripped, and he fell face-first into the dirt, as he thought.

'Welp, I'm dead.'

He waited for his eventual demise, closing his eyes and waiting. 1, 2, 3, eventually he had counted to 100 and then looked back and found the monsters gone. A woman stood there; her white hair shined, and her lithe figure was transcendent, and damn, was she beautiful. the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

"I don't want to say this is heaven; that would be kind of cliche, but um, well, who are you?"

He asked curiously, quickly composing himself and looking at her as she met his gaze. Her scarlet eyes met his grey eyes as she smiled, stepping close right against him, which made him flush red and nervous.

"I-I won't say no, b-but don't be playing a trick now."

Amias said unsure if this was what he thought it was; looking at her closer, he could see her face clearly, and goddamn, was he lucky, no, the luckiest man on earth, maybe? No, yes, no, yes, repeated in his head, and eventually he stepped back, unsure why himself, as then regret quickly took over his thoughts.

'WHY DID I DO THAT?'

He screamed to himself in his head; meanwhile, the girl was laughing. Even her laughter made his heart skip a beat. He was head over heels for the girl he had just met.

"Your a very interesting guy."

She said with a laugh, looking at him, and sat on a tree stump, which she conveniently made herself, then sat down and kicked her legs.

"So what's your name?"

She asked as he looked at her agape; she just cut a tree with one swing of some magical sword. It glowed with an ethereal light and looked divine, but not as divine as her; at least that's what Amais thought.

"Amais walker"

He responded as she looked at him with a soft and friendly smile, then cut another tree for him to sit on, which he did, so giving a tiny nod of thanks.

"Well, Amais Walker, my name is Elentera Lockeheart."

She said, looking at him closely as if peering into his very soul, and he loved it.

'Lucky'

Amais thought to himself, glad that the girl seemed to be interested in him.

"Oh well, hi Elentera Lockeheart."

He said awkwardly and nervously, looking at the girl who just saved his life.

"Th-Thank you, Elentera."

He muttered, and she smiled and threw back her hair, making him admire her for a moment before quickly looking away once her eyes flicked open once more.

"No problem really, besides your the first human I've met while hunting."

She said honestly while she fiddled with her sword

"Hunting? Human?"

He asked, confused about what she meant.

"Yes, hunting After all, I am a vampire."

She said with a smile revealing her bright white teeth and long fangs, and while Amais should have been worried or scared, he was simply gazing at her and thought.

'I'm going for it.'

"Have you ever thought of going on a date, perhaps?"

He asked casually; meanwhile, his heart raced, and he wasn't even sure if she was playing with him this whole time or not, but he'll be damned if he wasted this opportunity.

"A date, really?"

She asked curiously and stood, sauntering to him, and sat next to him, gently leaning against him, which only made him more nervous and unsure if she was teasing him or not.

"Entail me what kind of date besides your cute but not exactly the kind that most girls like."

She told him bluntly and teasingly, seeming to have at least some interest towards him, which he was thankful for.

"I'll change."

He said honestly and readily he wasn't the fittest or anything, but hell, he'd try; after all, this was the first time anyone had shown some interest in him.

"Hmmm, ok then, but just so you know, those nightmare creatures are all over Earth because right now the gods really hate humanity, but I believe in you, so don't die K and we'll see again."

She said honestly and disappeared; his heart raced as he celebrated for a while before her words registered in his head.

'The gods hate humanity. What the hell does that mean?'

He thought and was extremely confused, and just then a huge rumble hit the ground as he looked; a being of pure light stood there and faced him, and he faced it, and he simply curled in a little ball and accepted his death. At least that's what would have happened, but now things have changed; someone wanted him alive, like this vile piece of shit was going to end him. He wouldn't allow that he just got a date, and he'd be damned if he lost that, so he stood ready and got kneed in the gut, immediately flying.

'Huh?'

He thought confusedly and gasped as he clutched his stomach in deep pain. This was the worst thing he had experienced in his life, and it wasn't over. Amais knew he stood no chance, but the being of light wasn't finished; it grabbed him, pulling him close in a hug, and Amais screamed in agony. This being wasn't of light; it was flame, and oh lord, have mercy, it was hot.

The fireman suddenly got hit by a rock thrown by another who would undoubtedly change Amais's life forever.
