Synopsis

Prologue

Good morning, afternoon, or evening to those of you reading this.

The following book is the first—and I hope there will be many—in a series of journals I decided to write throughout my life in another world. That's right, you didn't misread what I just said. I am writing this collection from another world.

Like you, I was born on planet Earth. I grew up as a normal child in one of its many countries, studied a professional career, and even pursued some postgraduate degrees in various fields. I spent my days quietly working as a professor at a public university. I can't say I had the best life, but I was happy with it. However, at some point, for some reason, I died and ended up being reborn in another world.

Now, dear reader, you must be wondering: how did I die?

It was simple, to a certain extent. I was driving to work, as I did every morning, when a truck in front of me had a minor malfunction. One of its tires exploded, and this led to an accident that left me crushed in the driver's seat.

In my defense, I'd like to clarify that to get to my job—well, now it would be my former job—I had to take the highway. This meant that at the time of the accident, we were driving at a considerably high speed, which didn't allow me to stop or maneuver to survive the situation.

It's a sad case, don't you think?

I've always considered myself a fan of isekai-type stories, but I never imagined something like this could happen to me. I really don't know if I should consider my death a stroke of bad luck or not. What do you think?

Fortunately for me, this world I was reborn in is a fantasy world… no, wait, let me correct myself. Using the literary system to classify fantasy genres, this world would easily be considered "high fantasy." Magic governs the day-to-day life of this world. There are fantastical places that would be impossible to imagine or describe if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes. And, best of all, there's an RPG-like system in this world—a role-playing game system where you can level up and learn skills, for those unfamiliar with the term.

For the reasons mentioned above, and many others, I decided to start writing these journals. I don't know if these books will ever reach the hands of people living in my original world. However, magic exists in this other world, and I hope to find a way to share its wonders with you, dear readers, so you can understand how marvelous it is.

In this story, unlike many others of the same style, I don't possess special powers or legendary items that would allow me to kill the Demon King. In fact, I'm not even sure if something like a Demon King exists here.

What I can promise you is that, upon starting to write these journals, I decided to travel around the world and explore each and every one of its wonders while I remain alive. So, I invite you to join me and become my co-adventurers on this journey to discover this new world and, if we're lucky, meet fantastical people capable of defeating one or two Demon Kings along the way.

Without further ado, this is my story.
