*Chapter 14: The Chase*
Kaelin charged into the room, her guns blazing. Lilith retaliated with a blast of magical energy, sending Kaelin flying across the room.
Aria took advantage of the distraction to slip away, Elijah close behind. "We need to get out of here, now," he whispered.
As they emerged into the night air, Aria could hear the sound of gunfire and explosions echoing through the streets. Kaelin and Lilith were still fighting, and it seemed like the entire city was being drawn into the battle.
Suddenly, a figure dropped from the rooftops, landing lightly on the pavement beside them. It was a young man with piercing blue eyes and jet-black hair.
"Need a hand?" he asked, his eyes scanning the chaos around them.
Aria's instincts told her to trust him, but Elijah was more cautious. "Who are you?" he demanded.
The young man grinned. "My name is Ryker," he said. "And I'm here to help you take down Vraxxis."
Aria's eyes narrowed. "What makes you think we're interested in taking down Vraxxis?" she asked.
Ryker's grin grew wider. "Let's just say I have my sources," he said. "And I know that you two are in deep. But with my help, we can take Vraxxis down and bring some real justice to this city."
Elijah raised an eyebrow. "And what's in it for you?" he asked.
Ryker's expression turned serious. "Vraxxis killed my family," he said. "And now it's time for him to pay."
