Great! Here's Chapter 19 of Tangled Fates b
The storm had officially begun.
Mei Xing returned home that night with Anya's words echoing in her mind. Zhang Wei wasn't just a ghost from the past—he was the puppet master behind the chaos unraveling her life. And now that she had a glimpse of the strings he was pulling, she was more determined than ever to cut them.
She sat in her study, compiling everything she had: financial records, payment trails, falsified documents, and now—Anya's firsthand testimony. But it wasn't enough to bring Zhang Wei down. He was too clever, too well-hidden behind layers of proxies and fake identities.
What she needed now was irrefutable proof—something that would tie him directly to Madam Lin and Mei Li.
And for that, she needed a plan.
The next morning, she met with Zhao Chen again.
"We need a direct link," she said. "If we can get Zhang Wei to communicate directly with either of them—even one email, one phone call—we can expose him."
Zhao Chen tapped his fingers on the table thoughtfully. "I know someone who might help. A cybersecurity expert—goes by the name Kai. He's discreet and brilliant. He might be able to trace their communication or hack into Zhang Wei's proxy accounts."
"Then let's bring him in," Mei Xing said firmly. "The longer we wait, the stronger Zhang Wei becomes."
Later that afternoon, Zhao Chen arranged a meeting with Kai—a wiry young man with sharp eyes and a mischievous smirk.
"I've heard of you, Miss Mei Xing," Kai said as he took a seat. "The woman shaking up the Lin Empire."
Mei Xing smiled faintly. "I need your help to shake a little harder."
She explained everything—Zhang Wei, the proxy accounts, the forged media leaks, and the subtle destruction from within. Kai listened intently, nodding as his mind worked through the puzzle.
"I can do it," he said finally. "But I'll need access to their personal devices. Even one moment with Madam Lin or Mei Li's phones or laptops, and I can plant a backdoor."
"Consider it done," Mei Xing replied, determination blazing in her eyes.
Later that week, during a company event hosted at the Lin estate, Mei Xing seized her moment. While Mei Li was distracted posing for pictures with investors, Mei Xing managed to slip her phone away for less than two minutes—just enough time for Kai to work his magic remotely.
That night, he called with an update.
"I'm in. And guess what? Madam Lin's emails are full of surprises."
He sent her screenshots—confidential threads between Madam Lin and an anonymous contact, discussing internal sabotage strategies and coded phrases that matched Zhang Wei's usual style. But more importantly, one email carried a digital signature traceable to one of Zhang Wei's shell companies.
Mei Xing's heart pounded.
They had him.
The puppet master was finally exposed.
Now… it was time to cut the strings.
