Chereads / MCU X Ben 10 / Chapter 2 - Choices

Chapter 2 - Choices

Ethan remained silent for a few minutes as he thought about which aliens, he could choose. And this was no easy selection.

Undoubtedly, all the aliens had their own benefits and advantages as well as their own drawbacks. And thus, Ethan wanted to choose the aliens which, in combination, would minimise these disadvantages.

Also, as a whole, he wanted to choose the more stylish aliens and not ones with ugly powers.

Ultimately, he made his final decision.

Diamondhead/ Petrosapien

For the first alien, there was no doubt in his mind. Diamondhead was among his personal favourites and an alien with overwhelming attack and defence capabilities. The crystals produced by Diamondhead were extremely strong and durable. The moment Diamondhead had plummeted Vilgax in just a few short minutes, Ethan had been in awe of this powerful alien.

Waybig/ To'Kustar

After obtaining one cool and powerful alien with long-range attack powers, Ethan decided to go for a strength-type alien. Although his body would be strengthened by the other aliens—take Diamondhead itself, for example—he still decided to go for a pure strength-type alien. After all, it never hurts to have some extra muscles to pack your punches, does it? And what better than Waybig? Well, the other option in his mind was an alien with four arms, but Ethan decided to go with Waybig. Not only would he gain extra strength from Waybig, but he would also gain the additional ability to shoot cosmic rays. These rays, in themselves, were a very potent mode of attack.

Swampfire/ Methanosian

After the first two aliens, the next alien which Ethan chose was Swampfire. This alien would give him three unique advantages along with the added strength.

Firstly, without doubt, was the ability to shoot and manipulate fire. Fire was one of the most superior and powerful methods of attack.

Secondly, Swampfire had amazing recovery abilities—a bullet hole or a lost arm would be recovered in seconds.

Thirdly, was the control of vines and plants. Although Ben Tennyson never used Swampfire to control external plants, it was always hinted that he could do it. And Ethan surely wanted to check this out.

Brainstorm/ Cerebrocrustacean

Now, when you are going to the MCU world, people with extremely high IQs were a common phenomenon. And Ethan did not want to feel like a retard among geniuses. He wanted to be capable of developing advanced technologies and conducting difficult experiments. And for all this, he needed someone with a big brain… and Brainstorm had the biggest brain of them all. Well, grey matter with its small brain was no less than Brainstorm but Brainstorm had an additional power. He would also be able to electrocute people with this power.

Jet Ray/ Aerophibian

Now, after all these aliens, he lacked two things: speed and flight ability. And Jet Ray was best suited for this. Jet Ray was one of the fastest aliens in the Ben 10 universe. Not only that, but on one occasion, Jet Ray was shown making a space jump. In addition to this was the green beam that Jet Ray shot from his eyes.

Gravattack/ Galilean

This particular alien was believed to be the third most powerful alien of the Ben 10 universe, after Alien X and Clockwork. The abilities to manipulate gravity and create a black hole were insane. Although the alien did not look cool in appearance—making him not so famous—his powers were definitely cool and extremely powerful.

Big Chill/ Necrofriggian

Choosing the final alien was the most daunting task for Ethan. A lot of aliens with cool powers were left, and he wanted many of them. But his mind ultimately wandered between two aliens—Echo-Echo and Big Chill. Echo-Echo, no doubt, was a powerful alien. It would also give Ethan the ability to clone himself, albeit it came with its own disadvantages. But one particular power of Big Chill made Ethan choose it: its ability to phase out and pass through any solid material. It would allow him to enter a lot of places without causing any disturbances. And the ice element power was also an OP power to have.

After making up his mind, Ethan spoke out, "I have made up my mind."

"Huh?" asked the entity.

Ethan listed his choices, and a small chuckle escaped the entity's mouth, "You are quite cunning."

"All the luck," said the entity, and Ethan felt a force pulling him.

His consciousness was about to fade when he heard, "You will transmigrate into someone with the same name as yours. He died in a condition similar to yours."

With this, Ethan felt the darkness taking over him.

When Ethan next woke up, he woke up in a slightly dark place. He looked around to find himself in some kind of dark alley. Across the alley, tall buildings and skyscrapers were illuminating the sky.

A storm of memories rushed through his mind, and Ethan understood his situation. As the entity had said, he was currently occupying the body of a person with the same name as his own.

He was 20 years old and an orphan. He was less lucky than even his previous self, as Ethan of this life never had the chance to get an education. Basically, he had only attended school until the elementary classes. No scholarship or rich man's NGO supported him, and he was forced to work as a labourer from a very young age.

And as it is said, once you enter the workforce as a labourer, there is no turning back. Ethan had been a labourer for his entire life; working on construction sites, loading and unloading the heavy stuff from trucks, and working in scrapyards were all his professions.

Today had been an unusual day for him. He had finished his work, which included moving stuff from one apartment to another for a rich lady. He had found the job through a connection, and the lady was in a hurry, so the pay had been good. Not only that, the lady was particularly impressed by his hard work and dedication and granted him a generous tip. Ethan had been overjoyed and had been thinking about a small feast from a roadside cart for himself.

He was returning towards his cramped, small room when three thugs caught him in the alley. Having made a fortune, Ethan was not very willing to part with his money, and he resisted a bit.

The thugs panicked at his resistance, and they slashed their knives at Ethan. Unfortunately, one of the knives struck and slit Ethan's throat.

As a result, now, the new Ethan was in his place.
