Chapter 1: Hero by Mistake
I thought it was just another normal day until I found myself sitting at the living room table with my parents, facing Keno Valtor, the director of the legendary Faith Hero Company.
Valtor wasn't just anyone. Before retiring, he was the legendary superhero the unique Valtor, the only one who could control thunder and lightning. A man of power, authority, and presence. But he wasn't here for a good reason I can feel it something is wrong in his visit this men didn't came to our house for years so why today ?
The moment he spoke, my world shattered.
"Sorry to announce you this but brenda is in a coma," Valtor announced.
My mother, Jane, collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. My father, Zack, gripped his head with one hand and the chair with the other, struggling to process the news.
And me? I sat frozen, unable to breathe. Brenda? Coma? How ?
My identical twin sister, Brenda, wasn't just my sibling. She was Glacia, one of Bravor City's greatest superheroes. She fought alongside Flame Boy, Tornado, and Hypnotica her acolytes famous superhero as well , protecting the city from villains. And now, out of all of them, she was the only one critically injured?
Dad's voice was hoarse when he finally spoke. "Will she survive , will my princess wake up again ?"
Valtor didn't answer.
Mom sobbed harder. "Please, Valtor, say something! I trusted you when you took Brenda as a child. You told me she was special. That she'd be the female version of you. You promised to protect her! , but you telling me now that she is in coma this is how you protect her ? "
Dad put a hand on her shoulder, his face tight with anger and grief.
That's when I stood up. My voice cut through the tension.
"Okay, old man, answer Now don't waste our time , Brenda will survive ?"
The room fell into stunned silence. Mom. Dad. Valtor. Even his men. All of them stared at me like I had just slapped a god in the face.
Let's get one thing straight—Brenda and I couldn't be more different.
She was kind, graceful, and powerful. She could summon ice and snow with a flick of her wrist. She was a true hero.
And me? No powers. No grace. Just a venomous tongue and no fear of consequences.
Dad scolded me immediately. "Bella, don't talk like that! Valtor is a legend!"
"Yeah, a legend who promised to protect my sister but failed," I snapped. "And now he won't even answer us."
Valtor finally turned to face me. His deep black eyes locked onto mine, unreadable. A chill ran down my spine.
Then, he chuckled. "You look exactly like Brenda. Same long brown hair, same deep brown eyes. But your personalities couldn't be more different. The only thing you have in common? You're both brave. In your own way."
His voice softened. "Don't worry. We'll do everything we can to wake her up."
Mom clung to his hand. "Please, Valtor, save my child."
He nodded.
For a brief second, I saw the man behind the legend—the one who had once been a hero himself. Despite my anger, a tiny part of me believed he was telling the truth.
But then, he spoke again.
"I didn't just come here to tell you this."
Dad tensed. "What do you mean, Valtor? There is something else ? "
The room grew colder.
Valtor took a slow breath. "No one knows that Glacia—Brenda—is injured. If the villain who did this finds out that Bravor City only has three active heroes… he will strike again. Harder. We are not ready for that."
Mom gasped, her eyes widening in horror. "No… No, Valtor, don't say it!"
Dad turned to her. "Say what?"
Her voice shook. "He wants to use Bella too."
Valtor smiled grimly. "Such an intelligent woman. But no… not use her. She will only act as Glacia until Brenda wakes up easy."
Silence.
Then, I screamed. "WHAT?! , act like glacia ? "
Dad slammed his fist on the table. "Are you insane, Valtor?! You already put one of my daughters in danger, and now you want to send the other?"
Valtor remained calm. "If you want to protect Brenda—and the city—this is the only option. If the villains find out the truth… they will destroy everything."
Mom's voice was desperate. "Bella is just a normal girl! She has no powers! How can she protect a city?"
Valtor nodded. "I know. That's why she won't fight. She will only act like Glacia. She will be safe."
Mom and Dad both screamed, "NO , it's No !"
But then, something inside me shifted.
I stood up. "okay I accept your offer , Valtor."
Everyone turned to me in shock.
But I had made my decision.
I wasn't a hero. I had no powers. I had no training.
But I had one thing: I wasn't going to let my sister down never ! , cause I know she will do the same for me .
