Chapter 1 - School Reopening

Early Morning at Home

It was early in the morning when Kayla's mom came to wake her up for school. Today was her first day at St. Alexander Havens High, a prestigious boarding school.

Theresa (Kayla's Mom): Kayla, Kayla, wake up!

Kayla: (Yawns) Mom, isn't it too early to get out of bed?

Theresa: What are you saying? Have you forgotten that today is your first day at school? And remember, it's a completely new environment for you.

Kayla: Oh no! I totally forgot! (Hurriedly gets out of bed and rushes to the bathroom.)

Theresa: (Shaking her head with a sigh) I wonder how you're going to cope with this new school.

Arrival at St. Alexander Havens High School

St. Alexander Havens High wasn't just any school—it was one of the most elite boarding schools in the country. The massive gates, adorned with golden accents, swung open to reveal a breathtaking campus. Neatly trimmed hedges lined the walkways, and a large fountain with a golden eagle statue stood at the entrance, symbolizing the school's motto: Soar Above All.

The classrooms were nothing short of luxurious. Each had polished marble floors, large glass windows, air-conditioning, and state-of-the-art smart boards. The dormitories were equally impressive, resembling five-star hotel rooms with bunk beds that had velvet curtains, private wardrobes, and personal study desks for each student.

---

The Upper Sixth boys sat in front of their classrooms, casually observing the new Lower Sixth students. It was the final reopening day for the lower class, and the seniors were always entertained by the arrival of fresh faces.

Among them was Jayden, the most talked-about boy on campus. Tall, broad-shouldered, with piercing gray eyes and naturally wavy dark hair, he was the definition of effortless charm. His uniform was always crisp, his confidence unmatched. Girls swooned over him, but he barely paid attention.

Alez: The girls this year are way prettier than our batch. What do you think?

Lorenz: Yeah, you're right! I was just about to say the same thing. Some of them got Brazilian curves—so damn stunning!

Alez: Jayden? What's your take?

Jayden: (Eyes locked on Kayla as she walked by.) Yeah… sure. You're right about that.

---

Kayla was undeniably beautiful, with long, silky dark hair, honey-brown skin that glowed under the sun, and big, expressive hazel eyes. She had an effortlessly elegant aura, her new school uniform fitting her slender yet curvy figure perfectly.

As she walked toward the administrative block, a voice called out excitedly.

Leila: Oh my goodness! I've finally met you in person!

Kayla: (Smiles warmly) Yeah, finally! It shouldn't always be just chatting on IG.

(Both laugh.)

Kayla: Are you also new here?

Leila: Nah, I've been here since Form One.

Kayla: Wow, nice! I just know I'm going to find it hard to cope here.

Leila: Nah, you won't. As long as I'm around, you'll be fine.

Kayla: (Touched by her kindness) You're such a sweet soul. Thanks!

Leila: Now let's head to the dormitory. Preps time will start soon, and we need to find our lockers.

They walked together, chatting excitedly as they arrived at the dormitory, which looked more like a luxury suite. The walls were painted soft gold, chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and each bed had silk sheets.

---

Later that night, as they were heading to class for evening preps, Leila stopped.

Leila: Kayla, go ahead. I need to grab something from a friend.

Kayla: Alright, but don't take too long.

Leila: I won't!

Kayla walked alone down the hallway, but as she turned a corner, she accidentally bumped into someone—hard. A splash of water spilled from the bottle she was holding, drenching his perfectly ironed shirt.

Jayden (furious): What the hell? Can't you watch where you're going? Are you blind?!

Kayla (shocked but annoyed): Hey! Watch your tone!

Jayden: Are you insane?

Before Kayla could respond, Alez and Lorenz appeared.

Alez: What's going on here?

Jayden: She spilled water on me and doesn't even have the decency to apologize!

Lorenz: (Scoffs) Do you even know who you just messed with?

Alez: That's Jayden—the senior prefect of the school!

Lorenz: Now, get to the Upper Sixth classroom right now!

Kayla, confused and slightly intimidated, didn't move. Just then, Leila arrived.

Leila: Kayla! What happened?

Alez: You know her?

Leila: Yeah, she's—

Before Leila could finish, Jayden raised his hand, stopping her from speaking.

Jayden: (Coldly) Alez, Lorenz, take this dumb girl to class. I'll be there soon.

Alez and Lorenz grabbed Kayla by the wrist, leading her away.

Leila (frustrated): Jayden! She's new and didn't mean to—

Jayden (cutting her off): Enough. No more words from you. Now, get yourself to class.

Leila clenched her fists as she watched him walk away.

Leila (grumbling to herself): Ugh! This brother of mine! What am I going to do now?!
