Excerpt (Chapter 1 Opening):
The scent of blood was thick in the air.
Elias barely had time to register what was happening before his feet were shoved forward, forcing him out of the carriage and into the cold, unwelcoming courtyard of the Bloodfang Stronghold.
The first thing he saw was a man on his knees, his face swollen beyond recognition, his breaths coming in sharp, ragged gasps. The second thing he saw was the Alpha standing over him.
Tall. Unmoving. A presence that suffocated the air itself.
Caidren Thorne did not need to raise his voice to command fear. His mere existence was enough.
Elias' breath hitched as he watched the Alpha move, the blade in his hand descending like a god's judgment.
The traitor's scream ripped through the silence.
Elias froze. His body refused to move, his heart hammering wildly against his ribs.
Then, slowly, Caidren turned.
For the briefest moment, their eyes met—cold silver locking onto trembling gold.
And then the Alpha scoffed.
"Tch." His voice was devoid of interest.
"So this is the new one," he muttered, already looking away. "He won't last."
Elias swallowed hard.
Because in that moment, he believed it too.
