Talent Reborn
Episode 15: The Medical Duel
A Challenge is Issued
The news spread like wildfire.
A high-stakes medical duel.
Haruto Aizawa vs. Dr. Renji Kujo.
Two patients. Two doctors. One chance to save them.
It had started that morning when Renji approached Haruto in the hospital courtyard, his sharp eyes gleaming with challenge.
"You've been making a lot of noise lately, Aizawa."
Haruto sighed, sipping his coffee. "Not my fault people talk."
Renji smirked. "Then prove you deserve the hype."
Haruto raised an eyebrow. "What are you suggesting?"
Renji leaned in. "A duel. Two critical patients. You take one, I take the other. We operate at the same time."
Haruto stared at him. "You're serious?"
Renji's smirk didn't waver. "Winner gets full recognition. Loser admits they're second place."
A heavy silence.
Haruto could feel the weight of the challenge.
But instead of backing down, a slow grin formed.
"Fine." He met Renji's gaze. "Let's see who the real genius is."
The Duel Begins
The ORs were prepared. Doctors and nurses whispered about the event.
Renji was already known as a prodigy—a surgeon whose hands moved with inhuman precision.
But Haruto?
He was the wild card.
Two patients were wheeled in. Both had life-threatening internal bleeding.
Both required high-risk surgeries.
Renji took OR 1. Haruto took OR 2.
The moment they stepped into their respective rooms—the duel was on.
Inside the Operating Room
Haruto scrubbed in, slipping on his gloves.
His patient had a ruptured abdominal aorta—one wrong move, and the bleeding would become uncontrollable.
He took a deep breath. Stay calm. Trust your instincts.
The surgical lights flicked on. The countdown began.
"Scalpel," he ordered.
His assistant handed it over.
The first incision was smooth, precise.
The moment his blade touched skin, his mind cleared.
It was just him and the patient.
Nothing else mattered.
Renji's Side
In OR 1, Renji moved like a machine.
His hands never trembled. Every cut was flawless.
Nurses watched in awe—his talent was unnatural.
"Clamp," Renji ordered.
He sealed a leaking artery in seconds.
To an outsider, it looked effortless.
But deep down, Renji knew—he wasn't holding back.
Because if Haruto really was a genius…
Then he wanted to crush him.
Haruto's Breakthrough
Back in OR 2, Haruto hit a roadblock.
His patient's bleeding was worse than expected.
The rupture was spreading fast.
His assistant's voice shook. "Dr. Aizawa, should we call for backup?"
Haruto's mind raced. No. If he hesitated, the patient would die.
"Think, Haruto. What would Kuroda do?"
Then—a realization struck.
He wasn't Kuroda.
He wasn't Renji.
He was himself.
And in that instant—he saw it.
A way to reroute the blood flow without relying on traditional methods.
A new technique.
Something no textbook could teach.
His voice was steady. "Prep a vascular graft. We're doing this differently."
The nurses hesitated—but obeyed.
Haruto's scalpel moved.
His technique was his own.
Not copied. Created.
And then—
The bleeding stopped.
His patient's vitals stabilized.
Haruto exhaled. He did it.
The Aftermath
Both surgeries ended successfully.
Haruto and Renji stepped out of their respective ORs at the same time.
A tense silence filled the hall.
Then Renji smirked. "You won."
Haruto blinked. "What?"
Renji crossed his arms. "You didn't just copy someone else this time. You found your own way."
Haruto stared at him. Was this… Renji's real goal?
Before he could respond, Renji turned away.
"But don't get cocky." His voice was cool. "Next time, I won't lose."
Haruto watched him leave, a small smile forming.
Because for the first time—
He wasn't just chasing after others.
He was standing at their level.
And soon, he'd go beyond it.
