Talent Reborn
Episode 6: The Prodigy's Suspicion
The hospital was buzzing with rumors.
Doctors, nurses, and students whispered in hallways. The video of Haruto's emergency roadside procedure had spread like wildfire.
Some called it genius. Others called it reckless.
But one person was more intrigued than anyone else.
Renji Kujo.
A Confrontation
Haruto sighed as he walked into the hospital's study lounge. His plan had been to lay low, to avoid suspicion—but now, he was the center of attention.
And waiting for him inside the lounge was Renji.
The prodigy doctor leaned against the table, arms crossed, his sharp eyes unreadable.
"You're getting famous, Aizawa," he said coolly. "Or should I say… infamous?"
Haruto kept his face neutral. "I didn't ask for the attention."
Renji tapped his phone screen. The viral video played silently. The moment Haruto had performed the emergency procedure, stabilizing the patient with nothing but a straw.
"You saved a life. Impressive. But there's something bothering me," Renji continued.
He stepped closer.
"No medical student should be able to do what you did."
The room felt colder.
Haruto forced a small smile. "I studied hard. I've seen plenty of trauma cases."
Renji's expression didn't change. "Plenty of trauma surgeons struggle with that procedure. You did it perfectly. No hesitation. Almost like you've done it before."
Haruto's fingers curled into a fist.
This was exactly what he had feared.
Renji was too smart. Too observant.
If he kept pushing, he might figure out the truth.
Haruto met Renji's gaze evenly. "Are you accusing me of something?"
Renji didn't blink. "Not yet. But I will find out how you're doing this."
The tension between them was thick. Two geniuses—one born, one reborn—locked in an invisible battle.
But before Renji could press further, the door swung open.
"Haruto!"
Dr. Arata strode inside, his expression urgent.
"A patient just came in—and we need you in the ER. Now."
Haruto's pulse quickened. "Me? But I'm just a—"
Dr. Arata cut him off. "You're the only one available, and we don't have time. Move."
Renji narrowed his eyes.
"Another test?"
He followed without a word.
A Race Against Time
The ER was chaotic. Doctors and nurses rushed back and forth.
And in the center of it all—a young boy lay unconscious on the bed.
Haruto quickly assessed the situation.
Pale skin. Weak pulse. Rapid breathing.
Symptoms of sudden respiratory failure.
He had collapsed just minutes ago.
A nurse handed Haruto the patient's chart. "He was fine this morning. No history of illness. But he suddenly collapsed."
Dr. Arata looked at Haruto. "I want your opinion. What do you think is wrong?"
Haruto's mind raced.
He had copied countless diagnostic techniques, watched masters unravel complex cases.
But this was his patient.
He stepped forward, examining the boy carefully.
Something was off.
"Think, Haruto. What would a real doctor see?"
He checked the boy's lips—slightly blue.
His fingers—cold.
Then he noticed something strange—tiny puncture marks on the boy's arm.
His breath hitched.
"This isn't just an illness. This is…poisoning!"
Haruto turned sharply to the nurse. "Get me an epinephrine shot and activated charcoal—now!"
The nurse hesitated. "Are you sure? We don't even know if—"
"Now!" Haruto barked. "Every second we waste, his organs are shutting down!"
Dr. Arata's eyes flashed with something unreadable. But then he nodded.
"Do as he says."
The nurses rushed to work.
Renji watched from the side, his expression unreadable.
"He figured it out before the senior doctors did."
Breaking the Mystery
Minutes later, the antidote was administered.
Haruto held his breath. If he was wrong…
But then—the boy's breathing stabilized.
The heart monitor steadied. The color returned to his cheeks.
Haruto's shoulders finally relaxed.
He had been right.
A nurse gasped. "Unbelievable… We might have lost him if we waited any longer."
Dr. Arata turned to Haruto, studying him carefully.
"You saw the signs no one else did. How?"
Haruto wiped sweat from his brow. "I… just trusted my instincts."
Renji's sharp gaze didn't waver.
"Instincts? No. That was something else. No ordinary student could diagnose that so fast."
As the boy was wheeled to recovery, Dr. Arata sighed.
"You saved another life, Aizawa. You're proving to be more than just a student."
Haruto gave a small nod. But inside, his thoughts were racing.
The more people saw his abilities, the more questions they would ask.
And the more Renji would suspect him.
As Haruto left the ER, Renji's voice stopped him.
"You're hiding something, Haruto."
Haruto froze.
Renji smirked slightly, his gaze unreadable. "But I'll figure it out soon enough."
A chill ran down Haruto's spine.
His greatest rival wasn't an illness.
It wasn't even another doctor.
It was Renji Kujo.
And the battle between them had only just begun.
