Chapter 1 - Hunt and Evolve.

I felt so small, so weak, I am hungry, I want to eat and eat until I can grow. I wondered to myself, questioned to myself, What am I?. I felt so small that it felt I could be a part of an organism that just began it's life cycle.

Who am I, what am I...I realized, I was single cell floating somewhere in the vast emptiness, surrounded by an ocean of darkness. Yet, I wasn't alone. Tiny particles drifted around me, some colliding softly against my fragile form. I reached out—if reaching was even the right word—to consume, to absorb, to grow.

The hunger was overwhelming, a deep, insatiable craving. I devoured what I could, and with each tiny morsel, I felt something change. I expanded, divided, reformed. A strange warmth filled me, as if I was becoming more than just a drifting speck.

Was this how life began?

Time passed—though I had no way to measure it. I multiplied, I changed. Soon I felt something change, it felt like I became encased in a hard shell with a warm liquid on the inside. Some more time passed and I multiplied again and again not caring enough to count how many times I did.

And then, I felt full but at the same time I became hungry. Some more time passed and it seemed I stopped multiplying rapidly. I now had a body that was floating inside of the prison I call an egg, My three tails felt tight in the enclosed space, my six legs couldn't move. I had a vision but I did not have any eyes. I had a mouth but it didn't open unless it was needed. My skin felt leathery even if it was surrounded by sticky liquid.

Suddenly, I felt something form inside of my skull and my empty body, Organs began to take shape—coiling, pulsing, filling the once hollow space within me. I felt three hearts forming in my chest, each one beating in a strange, synchronized rhythm. The sensation was overwhelming, like a drum echoing through my body, reminding me that I was truly alive.

And yet, the hunger remained.

I twitched, feeling the sharp tips of my legs pressing against the inside of my shell. It was too tight now, suffocating. I needed to break free. Instinct guided me—I clawed, pressed, and pushed. My head,. My tails curled and unfurled, straining against the confines of my prison.

Crack.

A thin fracture split through the shell. A rush of new sensations flooded in—something cold against my skin, something sharp in the air. I struggled harder, desperate. The shell crumbled, and then—

I was free.

For the first time, I saw. Not with eyes, but with something deeper. Shapes, movements, pulses of sound surrounded me. The world was vast, stretching beyond anything I could comprehend. I sniffed the air smelling a faint scent that made my hidden mouth water, I walked and then I heard a crack, my shell was making me feel hungry?.

The sound of the cracking shell echoed in my mind, a primal whisper calling to me. Hunger surged through my body like fire. I turned, my six legs trembling as I took another step, drawn toward the fragments of my own prison.

Instinct guided me—I opened my mouth for the first time. My jaws were unfamiliar yet powerful, lined with rows of sharp, jagged teeth. A single bite sent a rush of warmth through me. The taste was rich, almost sweet, and as I chewed, something stirred within me.

I was absorbing it. Changing again.

Each piece of the shell I devoured made me feel stronger. But that was it, It was just something that empowered me so I won't die in whatever environment I am in, I couldn't see but I couldwhat I would assume to be some kind of optical adaptation I can 'see' the coldness and heat of objects and creatures.

I still feel the hunger in me increasing.

I needed to eat something, hunt prey and devour them whole. Looking at my surroundings, I am in a cave with multiple entrances and tunnels. I hissed and made my way towards the cave that had multiple heat signatures.

My feet running above the ceiling felt exhilarating, the thrill of running was great but what is much greater id the thrill to slowly hunt down my prey and completely devour them, all six of my claws ran across the cave moving swiftly until they arrive at the destination.

The more I moved the more I could feel vibrations and the distant sounds of screeching, they were delightful...yet inferior, at most this prey can be considered a snack I can devour to satiate myself for a few minutes. My existence is vague so I can't differentiate feeling but I can differentiate instinct.

This instinct—the raw, unrelenting drive to hunt—guided my every movement. I clung to the ceiling, my three tails coiling and swaying with anticipation. My hidden mouth ached to tear into flesh, to taste something living.

As I crept closer, I saw them. Small creatures, their bodies pulsating with warmth. Their fragile frames trembled with each screech, oblivious to the predator lurking above. I felt a strange satisfaction knowing they had no idea death loomed over them.

With precise movements, I descended. My claws barely made a sound as they found purchase on the cold stone floor. The creatures huddled together, their warmth merging into one large, tantalizing mass.

I waited.

Patience.

The moment one strayed too far, I struck.

My legs coiled, launching me forward in an instant. My claws sliced through the air, latching onto soft flesh. The creature shrieked, its small body thrashing in my grip. My mouth unhinged, splitting open into a maw of writhing fangs. I bit down.

The warmth. The rush of life being absorbed.

It was intoxicating.

The creature's cries ceased as I swallowed, my body shuddering with satisfaction. The hunger ebbed, but only slightly. I needed more.

The others had scattered, their screeches turning into frantic echoes bouncing off the cave walls. But they couldn't run far. I could sense them.

Feel them.

I grinned in thought.

…

The church of Trinity that worships the goddess of trinity, a devote religion which formed it's own nation protected by beings who slay the evil horrors of the outside world. The holy knights of the three grand divinities were all lined up in different positions looking at one another with a competitive look in their eyes.

"Captain of the first trinity, the trinity of Nature, Walk forward"

The knight had a serene look on her face but her eyes burnt with an intense light, the green cloak behind her flowed like the leaves of a great old three and her silver armor that carried the trinity of nature gleamed under the glow of the burning sun.

"Captain of the second trinity, the Trinity of Order, step forth."

The trinity of order step forward, a large thin sword was strapped to his back, he had a dignified yet commanding presence around him, he kneeled at the orders of the high priestess before he stood and glared at the trinity of nature.

"Captain of the third trinity, the Trinity of War, step forth."

The trinity of war laughed wholeheartedly, The greatsword on his shoulder seemed to let out a low noticeable screech as if the weapon was alive and wanted to taste the emergence and the end of war.

The three captains stood before the high priestess, their presences clashing like opposing forces of nature. The gathered knights, clad in pristine silver armor, watched in reverent silence as the ceremony of the Grand Hunt began.

"Today I brought you here is because of the current situation with the cult of Simseil, the cult that worships the Demi-God of Pollution."

The high priestess's voice rang through the grand cathedral, her words filled with both solemnity and urgency. The mention of the cult of Simseil caused a ripple of murmurs among the gathered knights, for this was no ordinary enemy. The cult was infamous, their beliefs twisted, their practices abhorrent. They worshipped the Demi-God of Pollution, a being whose very presence tainted the land, corrupting nature, order, and war alike.

"They have grown bold," she continued, her piercing gaze scanning the three captains before her. "The goddess spoke to me that soon their Demi-God may ascend into the position of a God and to do that, they would have to sacrifice the lives of ten million innocents, ten million souls to feed their abomination's apotheosis. A ritual of rot and despair, one that would plunge our world into an eternal cycle of decay."

Gasps echoed through the cathedral. Even the most battle-hardened knights clenched their fists at the revelation. Ten million lives—an unspeakable cost for the birth of a god of filth.

The high priestess stepped down from the altar, her radiant robes trailing like threads of light. Her voice dropped into a whisper, yet it was heard by all, a divine resonance dancing along the pillars of the sacred hall.

"This cannot be allowed. The goddess of Trinity demands balance. Nature, Order, and War must move as one. For the first time in centuries... a unified Grand Hunt will be sanctioned."

The knights stirred. The captains exchanged glances—Nature's calm gaze meeting Order's calculating stare and War's grin that hinted at a love for the chaos to come.

"Do not mistake this unity for peace," the high priestess warned. "You three are to lead your battalions, but the path ahead will demand more than strength. It will demand sacrifice. Also I would advise you to go around the Maw of Falicrs, It is a dangerous underground cave system as you know and it is filled with unknown creatures and aberrations"

The captains gave curt nods as the high priestess concluded her divine decree. The weight of their mission pressed on them like the very sky itself, but none would waver—not in the face of such abominable heresy.

Outside the cathedral, the horns of the Grand Hunt were sounded. Their echo rolled across the holy capital like a storm, stirring even the leaves in the sacred groves and rattling the armor of statues carved in the image of the Goddess of Trinity.

As the knights dispersed to ready their legions, the captains remained, momentarily silent in the emptying hall.

…

I stood as I smelled blood quickly taking the space of air in the cave, My prey was delicious, I consumed them all leaving only their spilled blood, I felt full for a small moment before my cells started to twist and change, I felt my tails harden and felt something sharp ripping through the tip, a new appendage or perhaps a weapon born from my hunger. A barbed stinger, glistening with a translucent fluid that sizzled as it dripped onto the stone floor. Poison, maybe. Or something worse.

I reveled in the pain. It meant growth. It meant I was becoming something more. I was evolving.

My shell cracked further along my back, my skin shedding like dried bark, revealing newer, darker flesh beneath, slick and pulsing with unseen veins. I felt something form in the middle of my three hearts, it felt like a small burning warmth that stayed there. I breathed slightly and I felt something warm come out of my mouth a flicker of heat that danced along my throat before escaping into the cold air in the form of smoke. Not just heat. Fire.

I grinned thoughtfully.

I found a new way to eat prey. The flame was weak and it seemed barely enough to burn the stone here. It was still useful since it is weak I would just have to make it stronger, but now...I still had that crushing sense of hunger still stirring deep within my stomach.

hissed, slightly annoyed by the discomfort, the hunger was endless but I did not need to continuously devour to live, It was just an Instinct I had which I should give into until it is satisfied for some time.
